School Boards Promoting Homosexuality?
Zeitgeist replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
You equivocate to rationalize your immorality. I consider your views bad and don’t want people with your views educating my kids unless these particular issues aren’t discussed. I don’t care whether you agree. I don’t seek your agreement. I think you’re lost because I don’t think you know right from wrong.- 479 replies

Yes ideally no premarital sex, though people make mistakes often. Sex is primarily open to the possibility of children (resulting naturally from sex) according to Catholic teachings, so homosexual sex is forbidden.- 479 replies

You can be gay and not engage in homosexual acts, which is what the Catholic Church supports. Don’t pretend you don’t know what woke is, especially when you’re woke. Imagine how much easier it would be for you if you could educate your kids in wokism apart from the non-woke. You could have your school and I could have mine.- 479 replies

School Boards Promoting Homosexuality?
Zeitgeist replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
So I expect a fervent battle between the woke and the rational in the months and years to come. Since it appears that not even the Catholic publicly-funded schools are safe from wokism, maybe it’s time to divide the public schools along the lines of those who choose to sexualize young kids and tell white kids they’re racist while offering special treatment to favoured groups (racism) versus those who want to keep racism and fringe lifestyle education out of schools.- 479 replies

School Boards Promoting Homosexuality?
Zeitgeist replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
No, they’re talking about sexuality to kids at a young age and making the edge of the bell curve appear to be in the centre. Also, not everyone thinks homosexual acts are fine. I’m of the mind, Live and let live, on the most part, but I don’t think the variety of sexual preferences needs to be discussed in elementary schools, certainly not in primary classes. It raises the question, What kind of education should we expect from our tax dollars, especially when it’s delivered by people we don’t know whose values we may not share? Outside of math, literacy, science, the arts, phys ed, and health, how deep should publicly funded education delve into sexual lifestyle choices and when? Some might say never. Others might say they can be factually described in a brief way to older students. I certainly don’t think these topics should be discussed with young children and I’m not sure it’s worthwhile giving much attention to them with older students. Not what I value about child education. If the state is going to insist that enough people support teaching these themes to young children, I can see new divisions emerging between the permissive schools and the ones that don’t get into discussing these lifestyle choices. I think many parents would choose the latter. I certainly would.- 479 replies

Plea deals are admissions of guilt. People under duress take them because of fear of financial ruin and other legal consequences. The US justice system has used them against economically fragile people for decades, including people of colour. Refusing a plea deal to take a riskier position on principle is very admirable. Unfortunately we’ve learned these past several months that our justice system in Canada is a lot more politicized than we thought, much like our legacy journalism. Our current government’s opinions seem to carry more weight than our constitution. I think this is because a culture of favouritism and quid pro quo media funding for political support has taken hold like never before in Canada. What’s worse is that it’s very hard to prove, but we can see that there’s one prevailing viewpoint with which we’re expected to fall in line or cancellation, unemployment, and deplatforming are real possibilities. This shouldn’t be a left versus right issue either, because people on the left have also been canceled. Protecting rights for everyone is critical, including for political opponents.

I agree that is how it should be, but instead there’s a push towards affirming whatever possibly transitory gender identity feeling a student has and a quasi-promotion of non-traditional sexual lifestyles. I don’t think most parents signed off on this.- 479 replies

I just know too directly what’s happening for reasons I can’t really share. Suffice it to say that people in the workplace don’t feel they can express their concerns to management without reprisal, because directives have simply come down from on high, Covid restriction style.- 479 replies

Conservative Leadership September 10th
Zeitgeist replied to Jack9000's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I agree that civility is paramount (including towards journalists and politicians we disagree with). However, we need a big move back to centre to reassert Canadian interests, freedoms, prosperity, and sovereignty. The money-sucking climate scare rhetoric has to go. The focus on identity politics in government, education, and business must go. The unnecessary and costly endless war in Ukraine must end with a clear and enforceable, realistic agreement. Government must focus on reducing the cost of living and raising the prosperity and freedom of all Canadians. If people feel that hard work pays off, their lives are improving, and they are free to speak their minds to accountable leaders who will listen, everyone will win. Accountability is key Leave the elites from global, unaccountable organizations who pretend to know better than citizens out of the equation Keep government as locally accountable as possible. -

We’ve had that right for a long time in Ontario. The discussion of woke issues is quite recent. George Floyd was understandably the powder keg that has institutionalized anti-Black racism training and a much more militant movement for social change that’s more about favouring certain groups than equality. I understood the initial reaction, but CRT is a certain kind of Marxist thinking that isn’t really Marxist and doesn’t really aim for equality. The term equity allows for a lot of interpretation about what rights historic injustice, but race-based hiring will always be racist and wrong no matter which race is favoured. Much of what’s afoot is wordplay, saying the right things that are deemed as such by the Vanguard this week. When the wrong people start saying the right things the language can simply be changed. On gender and sexual orientation there’s a lot we’re learning the hard way Britain and Sweden have reversed course on gender reassignment surgeries after a slew of post-op complaints Also, in an effort to make everyone feel welcome and safe, we’ve brought the discussion of sexual identity and orientation to young children Why? No doubt some people really think it’s a form of social justice, but I think mostly it’s because the leaders within organizations are petrified on pushing back on any identity politics issues for fear of social media reprisal and canceling Their fears are well-founded. There are very few leaders willing to risk saying what they think, even when it’s fair and reasonable The answer I think is a major cultural realignment to the centre Kids are confused and many people still feel beaten down and lost after the pandemic restrictions We need a reaffirmation of citizens’ rights and a depoliticizing of schools and organizations Governments and institutions need to get back to presenting ideas and letting people discuss them openly without fear of taking the wrong political side. Many people don’t feel they have a voice or that government wants to hear what they think. It’s a very top-down society now Much was lost during the pandemic- 479 replies

School Boards Promoting Homosexuality?
Zeitgeist replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I agree that public education involves consensus, but I don’t think there has been open discussion and approval of CRT and questions of discussing gender and sexual orientation in schools. Much of what I mentioned is currently supported. Often the issue is the age when this is taught. I think teaching the science is what’s most critical, how reproductive systems work and what can happen under different circumstances. It’s about presenting facts and risks. Sensible opinions are naturally formed by informed people. Primary grades are probably too young to get into this. Let’s get basic literacy down first. Parents have the right to withdraw their kids from sex education.- 479 replies

You’re a well-grounded person, so such trolling doesn’t work on you. I figure eventually the trolls play themselves out.

School Boards Promoting Homosexuality?
Zeitgeist replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
What’s often missed is the sensible middle ground. Kids do need to learn about reproductive cycles, including ovulation and menstruation. They need to know how females become pregnant and learn about the risks of STD’s, the responsibilities of raising a child, etc. They need to learn about consent and the level of responsibility required to manage sexual behaviour, which is why many social teachings, religious and otherwise, promote abstinence for young people and people who aren’t in committed relationships. To me this is obviously important learning in public education. However, those schools, including most Catholic schools, are now talking to children about sexual lifestyles that fall well outside the normative range. Parents have a right to question and take issue with teachings that don’t agree with their morality. Our education systems have been somewhat hijacked by a vocal minority that have become very good at lobbying governments and organizations. This is where inclusivity turns in on itself, when the attempt to normalize the fringe alienates the majority. I think we’re there now.- 479 replies

I wonder if there will be effective resistance to educating children about fringe adult lifestyles in Canada. https://apple.news/A3G9UK79wTLmJpthswPagug- 479 replies

Oh yeah I keep a variety of styles in my closet. The tinfoil hat is another way to denigrate and dismiss people who don’t agree with government policies. If you question government approaches you’re a conspiracy theorist, tinfoil hat wearing Trump supporter misogynist-racist with unacceptable views.. It’s just more self-justification from a weak government.

But all our provinces quickly dispensed with constitutional rights. It was more understandable early on in the pandemic, but the persistence of mandates and restrictions were a problem. Our federal government still maintains absurd rules. Don’t forget your mask when you go to renew your passport and don’t wonder why federal services have fallen apart.

You keep revealing your amoral nihilism. You’re dishonest and won’t call a spade a spade because doing so reveals your lack of values. In your false world killing isn’t killing because only select individuals are people and the people who you favour should have the absolute freedom to dispense with the lives of others, even if it’s only for reasons of convenience. You have no moral authority. He who stands for nothing falls for everything. You’re a weathervane that shifts in the wind with nothing solid to guide you.

Federal Government in a Surplus
Zeitgeist replied to Queenmandy85's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You constantly reveal your idiocy and total subservience to flavour of the month identity politics trends. Just know that I consider your views to be the basis of much of what is destroying the social fabric of our society and our democracy. You repeat recycled sound bytes that we’ve already heard a thousand times and know are just more shrill whining from the victimhood club. You attack what’s left of the strengths that maintain anything of real value, yet you don’t have anything to offer instead except vapid nihilism and communist tropes. Calling me a liar is your last gasp at a pitiful retort, but it rings hollow because I have no reason to lie and nothing to prove to someone I don’t respect. -

I can’t inject you with brain cells. You don’t understand subject-pronoun agreement. It’s grammatically incorrect to say of a person touching her own ear, “Shirley touched their ear.” You can make believe anything you want though. Lol. I have a graduate degree in literature, but I’m sure your English language skills are unparalleled.
