Evan Solomon Radio Show ends today - phew !
Zeitgeist replied to JohnnyCanuck's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
CRTC is the regulatory arm of the LPOC. CBC is the propaganda arm of the LPOC. CRTC constantly seeks to reduce competition and reinforce monopolies in the name of “Canadian Content”. It just makes everything more expensive and there’s no longer a need to protect Canadian content except in minor ways such as the Canada Arts Council. DJ’s get shut down for saying controversial things in Canada. Newspapers are heavily funded by the Liberal government as well. Free press? It’s really gotten obvious. If the bills regulating internet content go through, it will get even worse. Iron curtain stuff. -
Well I do think Canada is straddling the fence between being a client state of China and a vassal protectorate of America right now under Trudeau. Junior Trudeau is trying to make it seem as though Canada is a utopian state, but it’s actually become a quasi left-wing woke green dictatorship. It doesn’t have the healthcare system promised to make it safe and yet free, so when the pandemic hit hard we got draconian lockdowns, restrictions and mandates rather than front row access to vaccines and anti-virals. The healthcare system simply couldn’t absorb the needs without totalitarian dictates. We see similar problems with the attempt to appear perfectly feminist and anti-racist. It plays out as loss of free speech and new forms of racism, such as discriminatory hiring based on preferred designated victim groups. It’s an entirely Bolshevik form of oppressing those who are designated as privileged on the basis of race. This discrimination is being upheld by our Liberal dominated court system and far left human rights tribunals. They are oppressive and unscientific, affirming activist statements such as a teacher telling a girl she isn’t a girl. The green subsidies, carbon (human existence) taxes, and crushing regulations on resource development are economic oppression. There’s very little evidence if any to say whether any of these policies are making any measurable improvements to our world, but there’s plenty of evidence that people are struggling financially, are unable to get effective healthcare, and are feeling made to publicly present viewpoints that they know are unjust in order to keep their jobs and reputations. This is Justin Trudeau’s Canada. With regard to Hegel, his was actually a religious philosophy about the working out of Spirit in the world. Teihard de Jardin, the Christian philosopher, held similar views. Where it becomes dark is the way in which Marx turned it upside down, made it materialist, and replaced Spirit with what would become the Vanguard of the Proletariat, a kind of politician god like Mao who tells us all how we should live. Clearly that’s a recipe for dystopia. Humans must have checks and balances to their authority because human nature tends towards abuse of power. I’d say that J. Trudeau entered that authoritarian zone from late 2021, perhaps much earlier. He certainly didn’t respect MP’s voting with their conscience or the individual rights protected by our Constitution. People who don’t see that are a threat to liberal-democracy. Unfortunately many Canadians don’t see the damage he has done to democracy in Canada. I was never right wing. I was a member of the Liberal Party for years. I can tell you this is not Chrétien’s Liberal Party anymore, not even close.

What right wing pundits? No such thing in Canada. They are banned by the one-party Liberal-CRTC. -
Do you suffer from dementia or Alzheimer’s? I promoted acquisition of vaccines. I changed my tune when I saw the evidence of their in-efficacy and the extreme coercion of our government to mandate vaccination. I remember what a total sellout and apologist for bad government you have been. Hardner almost in lockstep with your unconstitutional ideas. I think our moderator Hardner is basically a left wing radical. This forum affirms unscientific and immoral views right from the top. I’m losing interest. It’s worse than NDP-Liberal. This is why the prosthetic teacher gets a pass. Canada is in serious decline because of the nonsense you purvey. I’ve decided that I identify as a talking cabbage and I expect the same respect and rights you afford to your mother — I mean your birthing parent.

Don’t worry, you and your irresponsible ilk have ensured that this cultural and economic collapse is well underway. Now you can use government funds to get sex changes for your kids, hand billions more in taxes to people who don’t pay them or like Canada, and you can collect your welfare cheque to cover part of the cost of the high priced goods your tax and spend green woke friends ushered in.

It’s all about empowering the fringe at the expense of the vast majority of people. It’s not about being open minded or compassionate anymore. It’s a form of child abuse, but now the institutions we pay to raise our kids are openly supporting this teacher’s right to identify as trans Chesty Morgan role playing with power tools over the rights of children to learn in an environment without distraction or moral turpitude. It’s gone past the point of tolerance to corrupting the young. We’re just now seeing the effects of the past several years of moral collapse. Add the impact of the pandemic and you’re getting a front row seat to the real time collapse of civilization.

Free vote isn’t partisan, but much of the health regulation around trans issues is provincial, such as funding of surgery. The Liberals and NDP added to the original bill: “Two bills—C-276 and C-279—on the subject have been introduced in the 41st Canadian Parliament, by the Liberals and the NDP respectively. The NDP's Bill C-279 passed second reading on June 6, 2012.[74] However, the bill again died on the Senate order paper when the 2015 federal election was called. In May 2016, An Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code (C-16) was introduced to the House of Commons of Canada, to add and include "gender identity or expression" in the Canadian Human Rights Act.[75] In June 2017, the Parliament of Canadapassed bill C-16 and received royal assent a week later. The law went into effect immediately as Bill C-16.” Wikipedia

You’re the most ill-informed knee-jerk radical left activist I’ve seen on here in a long time. Absurd and destructive. Your positions are ridiculous and hypocritical. I think you would’ve been one of the biggest cheerleaders of the implementation of residential schools. I can see the banners: “End illiteracy among Indians! Clothe and house the children in proper homes away from the ravages of natural exposure!” Lol

That teacher is the logical conclusion of over the top policies that affirm all forms of self-identification against scientific reality. This government is reaping what it has sown. Rather than the norm of children getting to know and become comfortable with the opposite sex, being referred to by their biological gender, and being raised by role models representing both genders, kids are being told to follow what they feel at the moment and that imagined labels like non-binary are biological facts. Transition surgery that has major life changing impacts is being affirmed and funded with short notice. Thanks for helping to create this insane false reality that is confusing children and breaking down society. So progressive. This teacher illustrates why I can’t support left wing parties and the weak-minded unscientific and unscrupulous fools who defend such policies.

The Indigenous are the most privileged segment of Canadian society: free land, free education, free healthcare, no taxation, free higher education. There will never be enough benefits and payments to the “original peoples” who warred against each other, invaded each other’s territories, and interbred with settlers while enjoying the advances of settler cultures. The take over of Canada by immigrants was always underway and continues. No human or group has a monopoly on morality or justice. People are people. How much is owed to today’s Indigenous? Who should pay? It’s a disingenuous call to victimhood for political gain and everyone with a brain knows it, including and especially many Indigenous. Injustices occurred. How far back do we ascribe blame? Every culture I can think of can point to past injustices towards them. It’s what people do about their circumstances that counts.

My point is that you don’t see the parallels between how they judged the world and how you do. You’re just as biased towards your own viewpoints. The difference is that some of us don’t pretend that we’re superior to past generations. You will be judged and disposed of with the same puritanical fervour with which you now judge the “settlers.” Those settlers were no worse than you. In fact they had less and worked harder.
-
Agenda? The educators and people setting up public education were English and French speakers. Did they generally have biases against promoting cultures that seemed primitive and harsh by comparison with their own? Yes, just as you’re in no rush to live as an Indigenous Madagascaran or New Guinean. Is that “cultural genocide”? Would it have been more “noble” not to provide public education to Indigenous? All that this whole revisionist history movement is teaching me is to stick to your own and support your own, because anything that you do to help can and will be held against you once your progressive values are deemed retrograde by future generations. It’s called presentism. Yet even today very few people really believe it’s better not to educate children than to educate them. Today’s education is no less a form of indoctrination than the education of a century ago. Our textbooks will be ridiculed and revised. The power brokers who run our institutions define the truth, yet few people would propose anarchy. Anyone who actually reads Thomas King or Talaga or any of the most current Indigenous accounts of the Indian Act learns quickly that the problems in residential schools were actually pretty human and pedestrian: Stretched and poorly advised managers didn’t listen to Dr. Bryce’s report on the spread of disease due to crowded spaces. Indigenous kids weren’t murdered, or rather, if anyone abused someone to the extent of causing death, that was never allowed or acceptable. Abuses took place in all schools, more so in residential schools. Certainly racism was more prevalent. Separating kids from parents was harsh. Boarding kids from remote communities was done harshly, but life was harder then in general. We need rational and honest commentary or we get politicization instead of fairness and justice.

The Republicans and Democrats fight a proxy war through Iran and the Saudis. I guess the Saudis get more of a pass because of oil. Sad but that’s how power gets brokered in the Middle East: Israel gets arms. Saudi Arabia gets military protection and a U.S. base in exchange for predictable oil supply. Iran is hemmed in by the Sunnis, well, sort of. Obama propped up a Shia minority government in Iraq. So much mess we can’t keep track. The victims are the regular citizens just trying to get by and take care of their families. Canada did close the embassy after the murder of that dual Canadian citizen journalist. Sad to think what a shadow Iran is of the once great Persian empire. That theocracy demonstrates the importance of separating church and state.

I agree, but then we have to stop electing petty tyrant fops. We spend a fortune maintaining all sorts of “Canadian” regulatory bodies, but much of it is basically US standards with a maple leaf and all sorts of cultural protections that often make programming expensive and less interesting. Not always. Lots to love about Canadian content. I just don’t think we need to subsidize or protect it with regulations anymore. It stands on its own merit. If it doesn’t then it’s usually not worth much. What the Liberals are trying to do controlling the internet is gross. We see this across industries with our high cell phone charges and lack of competition. They create maybe two strong Canadian companies that then share the business like monopolies. What’s the point? We need free markets and wide open competition.

Well I would be interested in a revised union with the US where Canadian and American citizens could live and work in both countries. I’m okay with keeping the border as a security checkpoint. I just don’t want to see Canada become some Puerto Rico type protectorate without representation. Better to be masters of our own destiny, even if it’s already compromised. Also, American violence and homicide rates are a worry, especially if shit hits the fan.
-
Well you were right about Payette. She was terrible. Thank God we had ELizabeth 2. If we had a republic and Justin was head of state? Yikes.
-
I hear you, but we have to get out and join the land of the living, rub elbows with a variety of folks and opinions, and be in nature for restoration. The computer only takes us so far.

The Crown is largely symbolic in the lives of Canadians, but if the shit hits the fan I want to be on team Britain. They have the strength, independence, and institutions that have stood the test of time. When Britain was almost a quarter the size of France the Royal Navy ruled the seas. They were the first to declare war on Hitler and the fastest out of the gate with vaccines. I’m proud of the Commonwealth. Let’s not forget that America also shares that legacy. Canada started to define her own identity in WW1 and a series of events from the Suez and peacekeeping through Pearson and Trudeau Senior, but this last year under Trudeau the Lesser has illustrated that our government still won’t assert Canadian interests above foreign influence. Well as long as that continues to be the case, I’d far rather stick with the Yanks and the Brits than China and the UN.

The FBI literally gave Zuckerberg an award. They basically turn everything over to the FBI. What’s more, Zuckerberg is trying to profit off locking everyone down through Meta. You get a virtual office and an avatar so you can sit in front of a computer and live your life apart from the other biohazards and carbon footprints. He also wants education in this format. Stop exercising, watch a screen, stay away from humans, take pharmaceuticals to cope, and die.

Sadly surveillance was already underway with Facebook. Creepy stuff.
