Should Canadian citizenship be revoked?
blackbird replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Revoking citizenship of a convicted terrorist who holds dual citizenship would send a message to other would-be terrorists in the country. Keeping someone in prison in Canada is very costly. If we have a simple way of avoiding that expense that might be over 100,000 dollars a year, it might be worth doing. Many countries in the ME and Africa have so many terrorists that one more wouldn't make any difference. -

Our soldiers suffer while caught in the middle.

I don't see sending soldiers as globalism. I see globalism as a country being controlled by some international group or political power. Soldiers are sent to defend other people from terrorism or aggression. -

I wouldn't say so. Older, yes. But richer? How do you define richer? Canada's and U.S.'s culture was taken with them when they came to the new world don't forget. We have the best of both the old world and the new world. We have the culture of Europe if you want to call it that or for lack of a better word, and we have the beauty, wealth, geography of the new world. We are better off than Europeans in so many ways. -
Another example of Religion in Public Schools
blackbird replied to Boges's topic in Religion & Politics
The inherent weakness in giving special privileges to the Catholic schools in some provinces is that some other religion will make the same demands where their numbers are sufficient. We need to find a way to change that. No religion should receive special privileges. I would rather religion be banned from being taught in public school. People who want religion taught, can send their kids to private religious schools. We could have a voucher system for everyone. -
Trumpism vs Globalism
blackbird replied to Cum Laude's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I don't think Trump is going to want to change NAFTA with Canada much. His concern is with the thousands of jobs that have gone to Mexico and China. -

I edited my comment just at the time you replied to the original. That's why the slight difference. The genocide in Rwanda was a disaster. -
Trumpism vs Globalism

I agree. The main international organization for globalism is the U.N. The U.N. has a Human Rights Council made up of about 41 countries. A lot of the countries on the Human Rights Council have a questionable human rights record, countries such as Cuba, China, Saudi Arabia, etc. The U.N. has put a lot of energy into condemning Israel, which is the only democratic country in the middle east. -

I agree. The system is in need of a massive overhaul. I disagree with the comments saying we shouldn't be sending our soldiers to other countries. They don't understand what is going on in the world. They are to be pitied as lacking in basic knowledge about world affairs. Soldiers should be given the respect they deserve for putting their lives on the line and serving their country and the cause of freedom in the world. -
A quote from a left wing newspaper columnist working for the Star. Others would beg to differ. If it an innocuous motion, why even bother with it? Why don't they define what Islamophobia means? They were offered a chance to replace the word Islamophobia with a motion which explicitly refers hate crimes against all religions but refused to change it. Does it refer to hate crimes such as vandalizing a mosque or insulting muslims on the street? I think we already have hate crime laws to deal with that? Or does it have a more sinister purpose, such as to restrict freedom to criticize Islam further down the road? Everyone knows and agrees it is not a law; No need to keep reminding us, we are not that dumb, but it is a referral to the Heritage Committee who will be required to come back with some recommendations. What will they come back with? We will have to wait and see if M103 is a benign motion as many supporters of it claim or if the government has more in mind.

Yes. If I could become a servant, baker or maybe a chauffeur for Her Majesty, I would be satisfied.

LOL. Now now. The Americans have many that are thought of as royalty just the same. Such as the First Lady, or maybe Ivanka Trump will be considered a Princess. The wife of John F. Kennedy was like royalty. Jacqeline Kennedy. Not to mention movie stars. I think of Elvis Presley, as he was close to royalty.

The problem in England is the Queen is both head of state and head of the Church of England. So whatever the hierarchy in the COE says, the Queen must obey. There should be a separation of church and state.

That is the text of the Email I received, except for the last sentence which is not relevant. There is no link because it was info in an Email. I posted it because it is not private information and is part of an important political issue which should be discussed. Whoever gave me a thumbs down, If you want to give me a thumbs down, at least have the courtesy of explaining why. Don't want it brought out in the light or what?

Text of an Email I received. (not from a website) In 2009, our Conservative government introduced the Visa policy to stop the flow of increased bogus refugee claims by Mexican citizens. But in late 2016, the Trudeau Liberals reversed that decision. This was an early Christmas gift for Mexico’s drug cartels. A Canada Border Serves Agency report says lifting the visa makes it easier for Mexican drug cartels to do business right here in Canada: “In the next three years, Mexican drug cartels are expected to expand their presence in Canada by sending operatives and recruiting local airport or marine port workers with ties to Mexico,” the report states. In other words, Justin Trudeau has put the lives of all Canadians at greater risk. With the lifting of this Visa policy, Canada has now been forced into combating an onslaught of new asylum seekers. The Canadian Border Services Agency has already detained almost 450 Mexican migrants this year. That number is already higher than the entire total for all of last year. And when asked about what actions the Government intends to take, Trudeau’s Immigration Minister said “it would be premature to speculate.” >> Help us protect Canada’s borders << Fact: there was no formal review of the Mexican visa policy reversal. The decision to lift the visa requirement is short sighted and poorly thought out. And it also comes with a hefty price tag. Canadians could be on the hook for hundreds of millions of dollars in the coming years to cover the costs of this decision.

I watched the full series movie "The Crown". Very enjoyable. I am a fan of the constitutional monarchy and think it has been a very good system for Canada. It helps to ensure Canada is not taken over by a dictator because the fact the Armed Forces and RCMP still swear allegiance to the Queen means it would be difficult for a renegade PM for instance to cancel elections and set up his own dictatorship. Secondly we are part of a Commonwealth of Nations which automatically makes them our allies.

You don't seem to be aware of the facts. 9-11 killed around 3,000 people. Since 9-11, more than 30,000 people have been killed by jihad terrorist attacks around the world, including a lot of Muslims. They don't seem to care if Muslims are killed as well, but many christians are killed every week in some parts of the world. Hundreds of people are killed every week or month by jihad terrorists. The west cannot just sit back and do nothing. That is not a sensible approach. The truth is these jihad terrorists believe they will go to heaven right away and receive 72 virgins if they die fighting for Allah. That is the simple fact. That's why we see often that lone wolf attacks are often perpetrated by unstable, individuals with mental issues and who may have a criminal record, but who believe they can escape all their problems by dying in jihad and get those 72 virgins.

Should Canadian citizenship be revoked?
blackbird replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It's a well known characteristic of Liberals/NDP to put the rights of criminals ahead of the rights of victims and the safety of citizens. This is proven by the fact the NDP/Liberals voted against laws the Conservatives put forward to toughen up the criminal laws to protect citizens. The law the Conservatives brought in to deport convicted terrorists with dual citizenship was opposed by the Liberals and NDP. Since Trudeau was elected, he changed the law to allow a convicted terrorist with dual citizenship to allow him to retain his Canadian citizenship and remain in Canada, not only putting Canadians at greater risk but costing taxpayers 100,000 dollars a year or more to keep people like that in prison. The law the Conservatives brought in to give more power to the RCMP and CSIS to protect Canadians from terrorism was opposed by the NDP and Liberals. They made the phony claim that citizens rights would be infringed on. They also claimed protesters of oil pipelines would have their rights hindered. More Lefty propaganda. If people are protesting legally, they would not be affected. Liberals promised to change that law. Not sure if they have changed it yet. -
64 Ways Obama is Sabotaging Trump
blackbird replied to blackbird's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
A good example of the behavior of some that oppose Trump is the thugs the operate among protesters. In Berkley, California they banned a pro Trump speaker from speaking on campus by rioting and destroying some property. How many cars have been burned since Trump was elected and how many streets have been illegally blocked and people intimidated by these masked thugs. Ask yourself why so many are wearing masks? -
President Erdogan: "Lets make average 5 children"

I would think many people in Europe might disagree about becoming Eurostan. It has not happened yet, although some countries are nearer than they were 20 years ago.. Maybe people in Europe will finally wake up but I'm not holding my breath. Europe is full of liberals who don't have a clue and could care less about their freedom. We have the same kind of liberals in Canada who are taking us down that path.
