  1. No, it's about Canadian's prioritizing. If any policy is based on Canadian's being too stupid, it's the policy of the left. Thinking that government can best look after people's lives then they can themselves. Thinking that government can best provide for them, and spend their money more wisely and efficiently. Look in the mirror.
  2. I'm not coming to the defense of prorogation. I'm simply stating the truth. That anyone who describes this activity as 'undemocratic' is completely and utterly wrong. It's an instrument provided for under the Canadian constitution, in which the GG has to agree. Calling parlaimentary acts undemocratic is hyperbole, and more importantly, unintelligent, and dishonest.
  3. Really? Since when is Adscam an instrument provided for under the Canadian constitution? Please think before you speak. Or in this case, type.
  4. There's been a lot of firsts. Like the way the Liberals and NDP teamed with the Bloc to try and take down the government. That was also a first. In the past, no one had invited seperatists to be included in a possible government.
  5. This is a complete non-issue. Canadian voters have no confidence in any of the other party leaders. And what Canadians care most about right now, is jobs and the economy. So if the Liberals and NDP wanna go around complaining about Harper's prorogue of Parlaiment, I say, go for it. Because the average citizen will just stare back at you with a glazed look over their eyes. You're arguing over procedure not policy. Canadian's don't care.
  6. How do you figure? I'd say if anything, Obama's a lot dumber than Cheney. Everything Obama criticized Bush and Cheney for during his campaign, he's done a 180 on.
  7. If the instruments he's using are provided under the Constitution, by definition it isn't undemocratic. If you don't like his behavior, vote him out. Unfortunately for you, Canadian voters don't feel the same way.
  8. Here's some real analysis, unlike the claptrap some of my colleagues like to post from fair and balanced sources such as Talking Points Memo and The Huffington Post. Democrats' rough year is just beginning As the midterm election year opens, the euphoria among Democrats that accompanied President Obama's inauguration has disappeared. Even the least pessimistic Democrats fear sizable losses in November Link And... The Byron Dorgan Thunderclap A politically shrewd Senate Democratic staff member chatting about the future of health care negotiations stopped in midsentence late Tuesday afternoon as news flashed across his computer screen. "My God," he said. "Byron Dorgan is retiring." It was a thunderclap moment in the politics of 2010, an unfortunate twist for Democrats already looking at a difficult election year. Dorgan, a veteran of three decades in Washington, suddenly turned his North Dakota Senate seat from one that Democrats had a reasonable chance of holding into a likely pickup for the Republicans. Link Seems like some of you still have your rose coloured glasses on! Probably the same rose coloured glasses you complained about when Cheney dismissed the insurgency in Iraq. It's funny to watch you in total denial.
  9. The number of so-called uninsured Americans is inflated. It's counting people who switch jobs as uninsured, even though it might have been only for a day before their insurance kicked in again. It's also counting illegal aliens as uninsured Americans, when they have no legal right to health insurance. And, it's counting people who already qualifty for medicare, medicaid, and/or the children's health insurance program, but haven't signed up as uninsured. Plus, the Bush-Cheney website hasn't existed in a long time. What's your real source? Regardless, how is describing something Bush and Cheney said or did justification for Obama breaking his promises?
  10. Here's Obama's stooge Robert Gibbs trying to dodge the question from the press. Video These guys are in waaaaaaay over their heads. It'd be funny if their incompetence wasn't so significant.
  11. Uh oh! Connecticut Sen. Christopher Dodd won't seek reelection, will retire at end of term Embattled Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.) has scheduled a news conference for Wednesday at which he is expected to announce he will not seek reelection, sources familiar with his plans said Tuesday night. Word of Dodd's retirement plans comes after months of speculation about his political future, his faltering poll numbers and a growing sense among the Democratic establishment that he could not win a sixth term in the Senate. The news also came on the same day Sen. Byron L. Dorgan (D-N.D.) announced he would not seek reelection. Link Another senate seat for the Republicans!
  12. Another Dem retirement: Colorado governor won’t run again LInk
  13. SENATOR BYRON DORGAN ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT Link Why you may ask? 2010 North Dakota Senate: Hoeven 58%, Dorgan 36% Link When you're down by 22 points in an election year, you're pretty much done. One more senate seat for the Repbulicans! Yep, he said he didn't think it would happen this year. But he did say that they have a shot. Wow, what a rebuttal to the multitude of information I've posted in the last several pages of this thread. You showed me! Nice try. I think the key phrase from you link is this... You're purposely midleading people, and not acknowledging the Dem retirements.
  14. I'm just trying to apply the same standards to President Obama that were applied to the evil President Bush. Btw, here's Obama the day after the Christmas day bombing attempt. PIC
  15. EXCLUSIVE: Obama Got Pre-Christmas Intelligence Briefing About Terror Threats to "Homeland" Newsweek Looks like Obama was warned about the attack before Christmas, and chose to do nothing.
  16. Nope. Apparently that's part of an enlightened society. Ignoring science, ignoring 3D ultrasounds, ignoring heartbeats, etc. All for the purpose of convenience for the adult who's been "inconvenienced." Planned Parenthood Director Leaves, Has Change of Heart Planned Parenthood has been a part of Abby Johnson's life for the past eight years; that is until last month, when Abby resigned. Johnson said she realized she wanted to leave, after watching an ultrasound of an abortion procedure. "I just thought I can't do this anymore, and it was just like a flash that hit me and I thought that's it," said Jonhson. She handed in her resignation October 6. Johnson worked as the Bryan Planned Parenthood Director for two years. According to Johnson, the non-profit was struggling under the weight of a tough economy, and changing it's business model from one that pushed prevention, to one that focused on abortion. Link How about instead of working to protect terrorist killers, we instead focus our great enlightened society's outrage at the protection of unborn babies? Just a thought.
  17. The science is settled and we've reached a consensus. The rest of you are just deniers. Fifty-eight percent (58%) of U.S. voters say waterboarding and other aggressive interrogation techniques should be used to gain information from the terrorist who attempted to bomb an airliner on Christmas Day. Link Water-boarding is not torture. Members of the American military and CIA are water-boarded as part of their training. Anyone who's water-boarded by trained professionals has nothing to worry about except for temporary discomfort. And anyone who claims that this method doesn't work, is lying. I bet it would take a whole 10 seconds for you to give up your bank PIN numbers under such circumstances.
  18. No, this isn't where the natural-gas-is-good stories came from. At least for me. I think I'm in favour of using more natural gas for a couple reasons. It's cleaner than using oil, and it's cheaper than using oil. That's it for me. It has nothing to do with this particular pipeline. It's just common sense. If you want to address the pro's and con's of using natural gas, fine. But I couldn't care less about your PR Toronto media diatribe.
  19. Really? When I first saw a video of water-boarding I couldn't believe how tame it was compared to its evil sounding name. I thought forsure there must be a wooden board involved somehow. But no. Just the pouring of small amounts of water onto one's face. I was fairly disappointed. What's funny about water-boarding is that, when in the hands of trained professionals, it's impossible to die or even be injured. But yes, it's very uncomfortable. The moral of the story? Don't lead a life of terrorism trying to kill innocent civilians and you'll be fine.
  20. Just another Dem who'll be soon waving goodbye to the Senate! Health Care Vote Puts Nelson 30 Points Down in Reelection Bid Nelson's health care vote is clearly dragging his numbers down. Just 17% of Nebraska voters approve of the deal their senator made on Medicaid in exchange for his vote in support of the plan. Overall, 64% oppose the health care legislation, including 53% who are Strongly Opposed. In Nebraska, opposition is even stronger than it is nationally. Link
  21. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Dick Cheney is entitled to the same freedom of speech guaranteed to all Americans. Should he blindly support his President? Some would say that criticizing bad policy is helping. And whatever happened to the left's cherished insistence that dissent is as patriotic as one can be? My how times have changed. Either way, I don't remember the same rules being applied to this former VP... PIC
  22. So what you're basically saying is that you can't dispute any of the reasons why the Dem politicians are corrupt. Instead, you try and undermine the source of the data. Pretty sad. How about you actually refute the charges? Here's what Chris Dodd was involved in. Is any of this false? "This marks two years in a row for Senator Dodd, who made the 2008 “Ten Most Corrupt” list for his corrupt relationship with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and for accepting preferential treatment and loan terms from Countrywide Financial" Or how about Barney Frank... "Judicial Watch is investigating a $12 million TARP cash injection provided to the Boston-based OneUnited Bank at the urging of Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank. As reported in the January 22, 2009, edition of the Wall Street Journal, the Treasury Department indicated it would only provide funds to healthy banks to jump-start lending. Not only was OneUnited Bank in massive financial turmoil, but it was also "under attack from its regulators for allegations of poor lending practices and executive-pay abuses, including owning a Porsche for its executives' use." Rep. Frank admitted he spoke to a "federal regulator," and Treasury granted the funds." If these facts are wrong, please state why and how. If not, STFU. It's laughable that you complain about Judicial Watch's funding, but link to Media Matters, who recieves its funding from George Soros and other far left organizations. Hypocrite. I couldn't care less about other posters you've had discussions with. Sorry.
  23. bloodyminded, Your signature isn't a Ronald Reagan quote. It's article II of the UN Convention Against Torture. Please correct the mistake. Thanks.
  24. If that's what you consider a political fiasco then I'd say that we're in pretty good shape. But your underlying theme is quite disturbing. Apprently to you and others, it's quite reasonable to ignore all of the emperical evidence, and characterize Harper as corrupt anyways. Why? Because you say so? Or because others have been corrupt in the past? Either way, it's projection.
  25. Your entire premise is wrong. There was no torture, and there is no derision or breaking of international law relating to enemy combatants. And the "spirit" of justice can mean many different things to many different people. As far as I'm concerned, the individual in question, is and has recieved justice.
