I dvr'd it, and watched much of it on fast forward. Yep, there were tons of Indians. I can't believe how a population that composes a microscopic portion of Canada, gets so much face time.

Nope. I just wish Obama wasn't such an economic illiterate.

It's Her Party: The Brilliance of Sarah Palin
Shady replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It's not a matter of sneaky over stupid. It's a matter of competence versus incompetence. Kennedy's immense incompetence is what eventually led to the Cuban Missle Crisis. I'll take a competent executive like Palin, over an over-thinking, totally incpentent so-called "intellectual" like Obama, or Kennedy and day. Only completely stupid people think Sarah Palin is stupid. -
It's Her Party: The Brilliance of Sarah Palin

I was hoping for the latter in 2008. But instead "Hope n Change" won out in the end. And now, after a year of this guy trying to figure out what the hell to do about anything, we realize two things. Hope stood for hoping he'd figure things out sooner than later. And change meant putting the fiscal recklessness of George W Bush on steriods. -
Not from preventing things from getting so-called far worse. I know plenty. It's the man in the White House who doesn't know much of economics. He's never run a business, never met a payroll, never created a job. Actually, most, if not all of his administration falls under that category. Not necessarily. Recessions do bottom out, regardless of government intervention. Actually, in many cases government intervention only makes things worse in the long run. It prevents the economy from truely resetting and correcting itself. Making for extremely slow economic growth, and a longer period of recovery. This recession has already gone much longer than any others in terms of its lag in a recovery. But most of that is the economic uncertainty he's created with his various policy proposals, and his general hostility towards business and profit.

It's Her Party: The Brilliance of Sarah Palin
Shady replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Yep. That's what Democrats thought about Reagan before 1980. Sounds a lot like Barack Obama and the Presidential elections of 2008. Although in this case, Palin would have actual executive experience, being the mayor of a city and governor of a state. But hey, that Obama gives good speeches though! -
The majority of the stimulus hasn't even been spent yet. Something like only 15% - 20% of it has actually found its way into the economy. That 15% - 20% adds up to about $100 - 150$ billion dollars. There's no way in hell dropping $150 billion dollars into a $14 trillion dollar economy made anything from becoming far worse. His stimulus bill was just a slush fund for government programs and state governments. It contained very little actual economic stimulus.

Time This is a developing observation that I've also read by similar left-leaning political analysts at The Huffington Post. To me, Joe Klein nails it here: "the sort of thing calculated, carefully calculated, to drive lamestream media types like me frothing to their keyboards" He's exactly right. She's almost like a puppet master, pulling the strings of the mainstream media, and the rabid left, however, and whenever she feels like it. Like I've said in another thread. It amazes me how much power and influence she has, whether by giving a speech, or even something as simple as a facebook post.

TARP wasn't a stimulus program. It was a program designed to save the banks from failing. It was rescue policy, not a a recovery policy (Obama's stimulus).

Leading republican wants war with Iran
Shady replied to punked's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Nope. But I do happen to see her on all of the cable news channels much of the time. As well as on the news campaigning and raising money for conservative candidates running in 2010. As well as seeing her book in book stores and on The New York Times best sellers list. You know, the type of stuff irrelevant people do. -
It wasn't Bush's stimulus. What are you talking about? Obama had his stimlus bill passed in February of '09. It was written by Pelosi and Reid. It had nothing to do with TARP, which was a continuation of a Bush policy. Are you that uninformed as to not know the difference between the Troubled Asset Relief Program, and Obama's stimulus bill? Seriously, you shouldn't be posting in these forums if you don't have at least a basic level of understanding of these issues. So for the record. TARP is a completely different program than Obama's stimulus. I hope that helps you out with future posts.

Wow, huge lie alert! Huge lie alert! In fact, Obama's stimulus plan has done such a crappy job, that he's now pushing for a new "Job's bill" (they don't want to refer to it as a second stimulus).

Where did I say Republican? Can you even read? Btw, how's that irrelevant thing working out for you??? Still avoiding your failure huh? -

Uh oh! Where's waldo? -
What does that mean? Complete nonsense. All you have to do is look at the polls during that time. Harper's popularity went up dramatically. The idea of a coalition government between the Liberals, NDP, and Bloc polled extremely low. It would have been political suicide to go on with their coalition takeover. It would have lasted for a few months, and then led to a Conservative majority government. That's why they backed down. The Canadian people didn't like it. Again, democracy at work!

You present false choices. She's a very relevant private citizen and a leader of the conservative movement. You said she'd be irrelevant. You were completely and utterly wrong. About as wrong as one can be wrong. Absolutely 100% wrong. -
I see, so now you've moved on from your failed approval rating meme, to an internal poll number to try and make your point. Spin, spin, spin. In the future, if you don't wanna discuss Obama's approval ratings, don't bring it up. If you do wanna discuss Obama's approval rating, don't push it aside to discuss something else. It's pathetic, and very disingenuous.

I like this part the best. It's a classic case of religious zealotry, threatening to kill anyone who doesn't believe in their religion.
-
Better think again. And. Hmmm. A 46% and 45% approval rating doesn't conform to your premise that his approval number is going up. Aside from the one outlier poll you posted, they're all either mid-40's, or some even dipping a bit lower than that.

Complete nonsense. Ice hasn't "disappeared." In fact, in some cases, ice is actually growing. And the earth hasn't warmed in several years. Global warming is the biggest hoax ever perpetrated on mankind. And as it turns out, even the IPCC had grave doubts about the so-called "hockey-stick model", but was talked into including it by several of the most rabid true-believers posing as scientists.

Really? Is that why every cable news channel covered her speech on saturday? Is that why every cable news channel had their own post-speech analysis? Is that why the White House press secretary decided to take on Palin as well during his daily press briefing on monday? Is that why Vice President Joe Biden also discussed her and her speech monday night? Because she's irrelevant? LOL. Is that why respected journalists like David Broder are writing columns about her? Broder: Sarah Palin -- take this populist with a pitch seriously Link And even columnists at The Huffington Post? Sarah Palin Plays Chess Link Is that why she's going to be campaiging for Republicans in the near future, and all the way up until the 2010 elections? Including campaigning for Sen. John McCain and Gov. Rick Perry? All because she's so irrelevant? I'm guessing that in Bubber's world, the economy is in strong shape, Iran is an open and democratic government, and Tiger Woods is a great father, and husband. -

Oh, and one more thing... Politico Even the Today Show did a great piece on Obama's teleprompter issue. It's a great video, which shows how Obama's taken the teleprompter to a whole new level when compared to other Presidents. -
Palin reads cheat notes off of hand
Shady replied to punked's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Yes. He used a teleprompter sometimes, not nearly as much as Obama. I never said it was fine because he's a Repubulican. Cards are the more traditional, and less robotic way of giving speeches. I'd love it if Obama used them. No, using the term retarded is generally not a good thing. But especially if you're the Cheif of Staff of the President of the United States, be it Republican, or Democrat. I hope you do now. I had to correct your massive distortion of my posts. -
Palin reads cheat notes off of hand
Shady replied to punked's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Like I've already told you. Try actually viewing something before opening your mouth. It makes you look like a complete idiot. If you watch the Reagan speech video, it pans out to a much larger view, in which NO TELEPROMPTER is in use. Furthermore, the fact that he's clearly giving his speech off of notes, should be another indication. But apparently that also flew over your head. Wow. Those are some great pics. It's too bad my premise wasn't based on President's never using teleprompters before. Seriously, do you read anything anyone says in these threads? Or do you just skip over most of it, pretending that you've been able to get a feel for what's being discussed? OBAMA ALWAYS USES A TELEPROMPTER FOR HIS SPEECHES. ALWAYS. DID YOU READ THAT? ALWAYS. HE ALWAYS USES IT FOR HIS SPEECHES. EVEN IN 6TH GRADES CLASSROOMS. Really? You don't think he's made any mistakes? Even just one? Anyways, as I've already stated. Obama's teleprompter crutch gets to the very heart of the criticizm. It symbolizes it. He needs the teleprompter, because he's not genuine, and he has absolutely no idea what he's doing as President. Latest example: LinkSo apparently he's shocked that some athletes get paid a lot, even if they don't make it to the World Series. As if that has anything to do with Banker's bonuses and/or the economic downturn. Seriously, I'm beginning to think this guy is retarded...um..ur..the r-word.
