  1. This comparison doesn't really make much sense really. The better comparison is what has gone on in recent years with Quebec not allowing Newfoundland and Labrador to transmit power through their province with Lower Churchill power.
  2. It's nice people get criticized because they come from "privileged" backgrounds. Maybe we should also look at all "poor" people and tell them they'll never be able to accomplish anything in life.
  3. Why would you say Paul Ryan had the world handed to him?
  4. Seeing we controlled the fishery till confederation I highly doubt Canada would have been using our resource as a bargaining tool. Had the fishery not been destroyed Newfoundland and Labrador wouldn't have lost tens of thousands of people to Ontario and Alberta. The federal government also wouldn't have gotten their hands on our oil. I could go on but it will likely end to me offending you.
  5. Canada used Newfoundland and Labrador's fishery as a bargaining tool with other countries before they drove it into the ground, had that not happened it could be a multi billion dollar industry. The oil and gas industry, which has been around for decades, has sent billions into the federal coffers, workers from the province have been a huge contributor in building Alberta's oil industry. Minerals from Labrador have been sent to northern Ontario to be refined, and Quebec has been able to develop their hydro power thanks to the $1 billion a year they've been making off of Labrador's hydro resources.
  6. You got nothing out of Newfoundland joining Canada?
  7. Why do they deserve a raise exactly?
  8. I still don't know about him, but your points are correct. I think it could be smart for Trudeau to back Dominic LeBlanc, maybe be the co-chair of his campaign. Then he could play a significant role in re-building the party under LeBlanc's leadership while getting a more serious role within the party. LeBlanc is young, has good experience and I think him and Trudeau could become a force in Canadian politics.
  9. He represented a Quebec riding, he was from Windsor Ontario.
  10. Paul Martin and John Turner weren't Quebeckers.
  11. Well they tried that, and they'd probably be to afraid they'd come to power.
  12. Really? He doesn't seem to have governed to conservatively, though I haven't followed that closely or anything.
  13. All left wing parties are separatists it seems, with the exception of the Liberals of course.
  14. So you would vote for a party which is often described as centre-right?
  15. It's amazing that a province of 8 million cannot get a decent leader to run it.
  16. We'll see how this plays out if the Liberals elect a Quebecker as leader. Though who knows what difference that will make seeing it doesn't matter a whole lot for Mulcair if you look at his decline in support in Quebec since March.
  17. This Quebec poll includes federal numbers. The NDP are at 34%, the Bloc are at 24%, the Liberals are at 19%, the Conservatives are at 15% and the Greens are at 4%. https://www.forumresearch.com/forms/News%20Archives/News%20Releases/94572_Quebec_Issues_Poll_%28Forum_Research%29.pdf While the NDP still have a good lead they have dropped a fair bit.
  18. In all provinces if you are a member of the provincial NDP you are a member of the federal NDP and vise versa. I actually saw this mentioned in an article the other day regarding the lower voter turnout in BC for the federal leadership, members of the provincial NDP don't always support or vote for the federal party.
  19. All I saw was that in the 1994 election the NDP were on the ballot. Wasn't sure of all the details.
  20. When he entered politics there was.
