  1. Back to the topic at hand.....
  2. I'm just saying that Duterte has killed quite a few more than covid at this point in time. Covid: "We got 35. We're gonna be #1." Duterte: "Oh please bitch, that's a Monday morning."
  3. Dude, I'll give any "news source" a try. I've watched CNN, CBC, CTV, MSNBC, Global, City, NBC, PBS, Fox, etc. You can't get any worse than CBC, CTV and CNN, so what's the harm in giving a news source a chance?
  4. It's right on the home page of the NPR site.
  5. Looks like CNN has to accuse the Whitehouse of being racist towards New Yorkers now....
  6. I get that it's publicly funded, but they don't seem like lackeys for the Dems, the way the CBC is for the Libs. The CBC or CNN would never issue a headline as accurate and on point as the following for a Conservative/GOP leader:
  7. I never heard of NPR before. That was a very informative article. I looked on their home page. One of the main stories is "People are worried now because Duterte was just given emergency powers". Coronavirus has killed 35 people there so far. Ummmmmmmmmm.....
  8. That's what makes him a leader - he's making the tough calls. Sticking his neck out there. Thank god North America has one leader who's not just hiding under a blankie until the thing blows over.
  9. Yeah that's kinda weird. It's not like their business is down during the crisis so it's not a money thing. Maybe people just don't need to come in that late anymore, seeing as they're all off work.
  10. If this goal of Easter works out for him, then he absolutely aced the handling of this virus. I sure hope he's right. Getting the world back on track would be so huge if it can happen that early.
  11. Yeah the leader of your country can't just say "All I see is doom and gloom." I think Easter is a goal, predicated on positive results from the testing of some anti-viral drugs. I sure hope it pans out.
  12. A million to Greece is shocking. He usually gives all of our money to muslim countries. But $1M is no big D.
  13. The end of their business, mortgage, etc.
  14. TBH, the only real reason why people think that this disease came from bats is because the Chinese government said so. That's about the worst reason to believe in something that there is imo. It's right there with Scientology. I could see the release of this virus by the Chinese gov't being retaliation for Trump's trade war. If China knew in advance this was coming, and they knew how long it would last, they could easily brace for the shock. I'm 100% certain that they don't care about the deaths of 100,000 of their own octogenarians. They would just think of it as culling the herd. It will save them a lot of food, water and shelter - things that are in high demand in China. They could be positioning themselves to be the world's dominant economy on the other side of this, it could be the start of biological warfare, there are a lot of things it could be. "Bat flu" isn't catching on for a reason.
  15. That's not guaranteed. If some of the promising drug therapies that are being tested now are proven to be valid then Easter is the earliest possible date for a revival. People want to see a light at the end of the tunnel. They want hope that their business will survive until summer. For a lot of people 4 months is a death sentence. Trump is floating that hope out there. He's letting them know that it's a goal, which is a bit more than just hope. As a leader you can't just tell people "ALL I SEE IS A LONG, INDEFINITE PERIOD OF DARKNESS!!!!" Delivering soul-crushing speeches isn't a part of a successful leadership strategy.
  16. To be honest, I've watched a lot of different news shows and read a lot of different sources for stats and information, some of them were pretty good imo, and I didn't even know what % of people needed hospitalization or how long it lasted. Thanks for that info. Where did you get it from?
  17. It's not bad that it's being done now. It's bad that nothing at all was being done 6 days ago. Leaders are supposed to take the right steps early on, so that it never gets to this point.
  18. Marcus if you know what's going to happen in advance you can profit from it, no matter what. If I had $1M invested in the stock market in Jan 2019 and I knew this was going to happen I could pull it all out at the peak of the market, and then I'd also know when and where to reinvest it. Sell off stocks in oil and real estate, buy stocks in companies that manufacture med supplies. Everyone else is losing money while your own stocks are going up or staying put.
  19. 6 days ago people could fly out of coronavirus hotspots like Iran, Italy and China and land in NS, now people from 100 metres away in NB can't even ride a bike there. Don't you think that's a bit f'd up? Doesn't it seem like something is drastically wrong with that?
  20. Wrong again. I don't have people telling me my facts are wrong. I get people ignoring key facts and replying with off-topic answers.
  21. Again, you're just 100% wrong on this one. I don't find myself intentionally misrepresenting facts. My latest "attack" on Trudeau included video of him saying exactly what I accused him of. Simple math and common sense prove me 100% correct:
  22. If we were in the same boat as S Korea and Taiwan are, situated so close to the biggest virus-breeding nation on earth, and with so many people living in large cities with extensive transit systems, then preparedness would be more of an absolute necessity. We have the Pacific ocean as a buffer zone, but in this instance where we didn't bother to take advantage of that, we are worse off than they are.
  23. I agree with almost everything in your post, but honestly Canadians are allowed to visit parks, just not in groups. Provincial parks and federal parks where people camp are closed, I think that all off-leash dog parks are closed too, but you can go walking outside at local parks. Google: "walking in local parks during covid canada" and you'll see lots of advisories for parks in your area. Playgrounds are obviously a bad idea, as little germ-breeders are famous for touching their faces and not washing their hands, but going for a walk at a local park with the people you live with is perfectly a-ok.
  24. Wrong. Just because I hate Trudeau doesn't mean that I lie about him. Maybe a small distinction to you but that's actually all the difference in the world. I'm not hate mongering, I'm telling the truth. Anti-Trumpers are hate mongers who throw out straw-man arguments on every topic that hits the news. When you find an example of me lying, or saying something inaccurate, or omitting key information to make a story about Trudeau to make it seem worse than it is, or just propagating trash from an unreliable source without considering the merits of it then you can compare me to those drooling morons. Right now you have nothing Yz. Nothing. The fact that I feel a certain way is not proof that I'm being dishonest. You're out in left field on this one.
  25. Things that I have said about Trudeau that might seem small to you are actually a big deal. His undemocratic stance on things like, not letting his MPs cast votes according to the will of their electorate is a really big deal, the fact that he admires China's basic dictatorship is a big deal. It shows up later on in his handling of affairs like SNC and the railway blockade situation. He won't even tell us what "deal" he negotiated with those clowns. Did he just say "George Soros said it's time to go home now or you won't get your last paycheque?" He doesn't say. Our media just goes with it. Trudeau was utterly disgusting with his handling of the fake burka attack. "AAAAAAAHHHHHH YOU POOR DEAR CANADIANS SUCK!!!!!!!" And then after it was revealed that she just committed a hate crime herself the PM made a speech which said "Canadians still suck way too much". I can post that video if you don't believe me. That was a god-damned joke. Our own PM insulted us and then re-insulted us and you know exactly who was guilty in that instance. Then he totally ignores public hate rallies within our own country. He lets islamic state terrorists back into our country and calls them "fighters", like this is Pakistan or something "you guys are home free." Those are the same guys that we stopped dropping bombs on as soon as our traitorous PM got into power. That piece of crap and his family have been selling Saudi oil at their gas stations since the '70s. "Alberta oil can't go through the pristine tidewaters of this nation, ohhh nooooo". Only Saudi oil can go through the St Lawrence. Are you f'n kidding we? "We're phasing out the oil sands." Are you kidding me? Oil is a military resource. We do not stop producing oil and remain an ally of the United States. It's about the only thing that we even do to support their military now because we sure as hell ditched our common fight against islamic state in a hurry when Trudeau became PM. I hate Trudeau like Bull Hallsy hated the Japanese. Like Churchill hated the Germans. I absolutely loathe him to the point where old friends who support him are well past the point of ever being my friends anymore. That doesn't make my complaints about his transgressions against Canadians "grasping at straws".
