It seems like the same people who want to stop bombing IS are the same ones who want an open door policy at our border. Is Islamic state really all that bad? Is it really that big of a deal if a few Canadians are killed by terrorists? I can pretty much guess your answer if you tell me which party you voted for.

That is not entirely false, but it's not even close to being true. Like I said there is one interpretation of the Quran that is universally accepted as correct, and that was Mohammed's interpretation. Ask 1.6 Billion Muslims if you don't believe me. None of them will claim to be more perfect followers of the Quran than the prophet who made the revelations. If you're a muslim and you're called upon to follow Mohammed's lead then you will not be regarded as "peace-loving" by anyone. That's undisputed by anyone who knows Islam.

If people aspire to Christianity and follow Jesus's lead that's admirable imo. I say the same for Buddha, and I'm not speaking against anyone else I just don't have the whole list. I'm an atheist myself but I have no lack of respect for people whose aspirations are noble (don't confuse noble with naive though). It's pretty hard though for mere humans to "walk the walk" for their entire lives when they're up against other humans.

Within Islam it's understood that the "correct" interpretation of the Quran is that of Mohammed, their most significant prophet. The Quran is based on his revelations, and the correct model for Muslims to follow is the life that Mohammed lead. It's written in the Hadith, which is basically a biography of Mohammed. Christians obviously emulate/follow the life/teachings of Jesus Christ more than any of the prophets, they believe Jesus was the Son of God. Get to know more about those two and then revisit this topic. It's epiphany time.

My comment was the correct assertion that muslims in canada lobbied for sharia law. I don't have to qualify the scope of it every time i reference it, it's just a fact. I don't care how you feel about it waldo. What you fail to understand about Islam is that it's not just a religion, it's a way of life with codes of conduct that are enforced with the absolute strictest of penalties. Civil law is just a start. The Gov't of Canada can never condone any form of sharia, once the door is open a crack it's too hard to suddenly draw a line somewhere.

Stowe it waldo, I knew exactly what forms of sharia law they tried for in ontario, I was the one who brought it up. I don't care if there are Jewish and Christian-based tribunals set up for family law arbitration, or what happens to them. All I care is that women's rights aren't stomped out by archaic religious stupidity. The liberal crowd here was making the case that "moderate muslims here don't want sharia" and I said they already started lobbying for it. Civil law is part of it, and it's a start. You're the only one embarrassing yourself here.

Go fish. I don't feel the need to wriggle out of anything. I can't recall a whole lot of incidents where westerners sexually assaulted large numbers of muslim women with the blessing of the religious leaders or government.

Bombs aren't falling across the whole middle east. There are lots of places over there where safe havens could be set up on a temporary basis.Just evacuating whole countries from the middle east into europe and north america isn't the solution.

Ok, let's allow your criticism to stand. It's still a drop in the bucket compared to what the muslim minority is doing. One more thing - muslim clerics aren't universally condemning the illegal and immoral actions of their followers, some of them are actually endorsing them. Noone here said that canadians should attack muslims, we just shouldn't be bringing them over here in droves. They should be staying in the middle east and receiving aid just like other people in the world who were displaced by war.

You're so out in left field now waldo it's hilarious that you feel on track. The decision to deny sharia was based on the fact that women basically had to check their human rights at the door because sharia overrides their basic civil rights.

Waldo, did you think that they were going to try and get full-blown sharia law established across Canada when they were less than 10% of the population? The point is that after living here all this time and becoming familiar with our laws, and knowing the inequity in their old system of laws they still wanted to get as much sharia as they could. It shows a terrible lack of character and liberal values to try and gain a foothold for such an abysmal code in North America. That would be like rolling the clock of civilization back at least 500 years.

Muslims in Canada have already asked for Sharia law. cyber- you don't know much about Islam. The Quran is based on the revelations of Mohammed. The Hadith is basically his accepted biography. His interpretation of the Koran, his interpretation of the muslim way of life is the gospel for muslims. It was a failed attempt to mitigate the damage to the reputation of the perpetrators. You're trying awfully hard to swing some of the blame from the rapist to the victim. No, I was asking for proof that the north Africans were going to be held in a state of jobless limbo forever. That would be reason for some form of rebellion (raping women isn't a recognized form of rebellion though). If it wasn't going to last forever, then they should have been happy to have free food and shelter in the interim.

The classic "they were bored so they went out and committed some sexual assaults" defense. Those sexual assault cases will undoubtedly be thrown out of court. Do you have a link to prove that this "perpetual period of boredom" was going to last for their entire lives?
