  1. Where does that article contradict Boges statement that Ford has the first budget since amalgamation that spent less than the year before?
  2. Yes we have a lot to be thankful for. Thankfully we have lots of wealth and free enterprise in our country so that we can tax the free enterprisers and hand out freebies to OUR citizens. I was once hungry and bought myself a hamburger. Thankfully I'm not an African and I live in a country where over 90% of the population has jobs so I could do so. I was once horny so I had unpretected sex with a female. Thankfully I am not in Africa so I didn't get HIV. There's only so much wealth to go around. Canadian taxpayers aren't a charity for refugees. If you want to pay for their toothaches, then write a cheque, don't force unwilling Canadians to do so.
  3. What else would I do on a Saturday? I'm not saying I know everything about finance... but I have a degree in the field, a professional designation, and I work in the industry. I'm sure that is a lot more than punked and most of his fellow dippers. Not trying to have a e-penis measuring contest, but punked said I have no clue what I am talking about and I responded accordingly.
  4. I guess people are really buying into Mulcair's message: he's gonna take on Stephen Harper... and win! Jack's vision is in good hands!
  5. $0 billion over budget since we have barely spent anything on F35s so far. Lets keep on whining about every estimate and projection though.
  6. It's basically saying that lots of Canadians think they're too good to work for minimum wage because they borrowed 30k to have a four year vacation of drunken partying and reading Shakespeare. Now employers will be able to bring in temporary foreign workers who don't overvalue their degree in reading and writing.
  7. I got prime +1% on 20k from the bank. It does start compounding immediately though and isn't tax deductible afaik. I'm not being misleading.. Just pointing out that the banks aren't "parasites" with student loans. Overreact much? And for the record, I know more about finances than you or 99% of dippers ever will. . Why is it that arts grads always act like they're experts on everything? You don't see me pretending to be an expert on shakespeare and aristotle.
  8. I had both osap and a student line of credit from a bank. Osap was prime +1.5%, the line of credit prime +1%. Damn osap parasites!!!
  9. The problem with protestors and most people who support protestors is that they seem to think their right to protest supercedes the rights of everyone else. They'll block traffic, prevent other people from getting to work, smash and steal the private property of inustries they don't agree with, then shout "oppression! Police state!" When police are called in to protect the rights of non-protestors.
  10. I'm no expert on these things, but I don't understand the kerfuffle waldo is making regarding losing stealth with drop tanks... Assuming a stealth mission required 8% more range, couldn't the pilot just drop the tanks after the first 8% of the mission when stealth likely wouldn't be needed? Or do we need stealth for taking off? Seems like more waldo hot air to me... But like I said, I'm no expert and don't pretend to be one (ahemwaldocough).
  11. Nope. Read the article smallc provided. Might need to whip out your calculator. WE are all Canadians and WE are all in this together. The seniors are largely responsible for the debt that we have to pay off, ao it is only fair that they share in the pain.
  12. Let me guess.. He should resign? I'm starting to believe in Shady's Harper derangement syndrome theory.
  13. In other news, the deficit through 11 months of the fiscal year is 10B lower than projected. Canada has also posted surpluses of over 1B in January and February 2012. We have already effectively balanced the budget while the rest of the developed world teeters on the edge of economic collapse. Good job Harper!
  14. uh oh... we're on to you...
  15. Who will be borrowing anything? The budget projects a surplus by 2015-2016... will we have paid anything for the F35s by then? We already did all of our borrowing for real socialism, and what did we get from it? A bunch of artsy hipsters in Montreal demanding to borrow more so they don't have to work/pay for their boutique degree. We are for the most part focusing on paying back the foreigners at this time but our progress has been delayed by the recession. Speaking of foreigners.. it would be nice to have some modern jet fighters in the event that the foreigners get upset about Westerners defaulting on their debt, and come looking to bust some kneecaps.
  16. Why not? What if the PMO condemned Canadians who supported slavery? Would you say they have no right to paint them as adversaries? Just because you and Elizabeth May believe in putting people out of work to save some trees and turtles, doesn't mean the government can't condemn it.
  17. Don't be a fool! You're falling for the real smokescreen. The conservatives want to make us think that they are doing this to bring in Chinese temp workers, so that we will be distracted from their real intentions... To kill and harvest the organs of the poor as delicacies to eat!
  18. Yes EI is a group insurance with the majority paying much more into it than they ever get out. Of course, this is the way all group insurance works. However, in this case, citizens are forced to "buy" into the group insurance while some people game the system and drive up the costs. Obviously the government should try to keep costs down for employers and employees by reducing the incentive to take advantage of ei. If these proposed policies lead to an excessive ei surplus, then the obvious solution is to reduce ei deductions from employees/employers, not to make it easier for lazy people to get ei.
  19. What a load of crap. Have you never looked at Canada's government spending? Almost all of it all goes to health care, education, OAS, EI, social assistance, and paying off Trudeau's debt. Infrastructure is a tiny component of spending, and most infrastructure is paid for by property taxes on the wealthy anyway.
  20. Of course the gini index is meaningless to anyone who doesn't think that income equality should be a policy goal or is desirable.
  21. This is false. You don't become rich by dumping your money in a savings account (and even if people did, the bank would lend out 5x the deposit to their clients). The lent funds would then be used to stimulate the economy. However, the wealthy will generally invest their funds in stocks and bonds which companies use to create jobs, invest in research, growth, and productivity, and expand the economy. All increasing taxes on the wealthy does is give the money to an inefficient allocator of resources (the government), rather than the most efficient allocator (the market). It also discourages people from seeking wealth and may encourage the most talented Canadians to move elsewhere (eg. Brain drain of doctors).
  22. Par for the course from the lefty fanatics.
  23. Wow these are bad... He's gonna take on stephen harper! And win! And when are they gonna stop using jack as some kind of martyr? This is probably the script for the next ad: "Our lord and saviour Jack Layton, has chosen me, Thomas Mulcair, to be his disciple and to pass on the undeniable words of god to all Canadians".
  24. Corporate taxes are a relatively minor component of government revenues. I never said anything about other forms of taxation, so you can't just make an assumption that it is a "lower tax jurisdiction". My contention is that the loss of corporate tax revenue would be more than offset by additional personal income tax revenue, as well as less demand for social services due to lower unemployment. Furthermore, consumption taxes could be raised without negatively impacting consumers, as prices would most likely decline when corporate taxes are lowered (in a competitive market, prices would decrease significantly). So yeah, thanks for playing.
