  1. Thanks for posting the latest EKOS poll. It is a total surprise to me that in spite of all wrongdoings, manipulations, political scandals, corruptions, undemocratic moves and now a bad economy they still have 30% of the votes!!!!! Very strange indeed. Maybe voters are not fully aware of all the wrongdoings associated with this government and the opposition is not doing a good job in conveying them. This can be the only reason for the relatively high percent support among the voters.
  2. The OP's point on family reunification as a cause for bring uneducated people to this country is another misrepresentation of the facts in which the OP is an expert. Statistics show that immigrants in general hold better education than average born Canadians not to mention harder working so how come the family of these better educated people have no education!!!!. Really!!!. Or it is the third world people which you have problem with to be in this country?
  3. Again you are misrepresenting the facts Argus. For some reasons I cannot copy the link (maybe this forum would not allow copying a link, Not sure) but a poll just prior to the bill C36 debate in June 2014 indicated a majority of Canadians oppose the bill (please google search bill C36 poll) and believe that sex between consenting adults paid or not should be legal as long as force, exploitation and underage is not involved. Even their own government survey indicated an almost even split (don't remember exact numbers but maybe 40% - 60%) in which religious groups and churches galvanized to take part and vote. You are correct about the imported laws from Sweden but recently those laws in Sweden have been put under questions in the same country who invented them as their effectiveness and safety............. That said the debate here is not whether or not it is a good or bad bill or whether it is popular or not but rather the manner in which it was manipulated through the parliament when sex workers were not consulted as what new laws should be and the government side headed by Peter MacKay called their own witnesses rather than the experts and interest groups and those who opposed the bill and pushed it through in a rush and also the manner in which they purposely undermine the Supreme Court which is the vanguard of constitution and citizens' right n this country and that is what distinguishes this lovely country from dictatorships in other parts of the world.
  4. No I just became a member and posted this. I wasn't a member 8 months ago. Not sure where you got the idea that I copied from somewhere else!!!. I posted it now as it was my first chance opportunity as a new member and appropriately at the time or day which elections called to remind voters of the wrong deeds by this government. And please state the facts instead of spreading misinformation which is a common behavior by conservatives and their supporters. The new laws passed just 8 months ago has NOT been challenged and upheld by any court. The old laws were struck down by SCC in 2013. The Cons responded to that by bringing similar but harsher laws. The new laws only 8 month sold has not had the chance to be challenged yet.
  5. It was NOT a cave in but a mutually beneficial compromise deal. Nobody caved in to nobody. It was a compromised deal. In a compromise negotiators give and take. The US and G5 were asking Iran to refrain from building the A bomb. Something that THEY HAVE DONE THEMSELVES for decades having thousands of A bombs. That was what put them in the position to ask others not to do what they have done themselves. And yes the money estimated between $100 to $150 billion was Iran's at the first place but was frozen by above countries. Based on this deal Iran would refrain from building the bomb for another 10 years and in return they get their own money back. So the title that the US and G5 caved in to Iran may be a bit misleading. It was a compromise. And it was about the security of Israel as always the pro-Israeli lobby is very strong in the US but this time they didn't get ALL that they wanted from their servants so as why there is so much opposition to this deal. Iran is the most advanced country in the region with the largest middle class and highly educated citizens where women participate in the society and workplaces on equal basis. In fact I believe two third of university students numbering millions are female students and where females assuming high positions. It is unlike the neighboring countries where women are not even allowed to drive (sad but true). Iran is a non-Arab Persian country with centuries of history and civilization having the second largest Gas reserves, fourth largest oil reserves and all sorts of mines. It is Russia in Gas reserves and Saudi Arabia in oil and Australia in mining resources. Unlike its neighbors it also has the human resources with tens of millions of its citizens having university education and an open minded society with more than half the population having access to internet and satellite TV. They managed quite well under the harshest sactions regime in place and continued to survive and make progress while under sanctions. IT WAS IN THE INTEREST OF THE WEST TO REACH A COMPROMISE DEAL WITH THIS EMERGING MAJOR POWER and this frightens Israel and there is nothing they can do but to make noises. It was NOT caving in.
  6. Harper met with governor General and election is called for October 19.
  7. Well webc5 in fact the bill became law of the country on December 21, 2014.
  8. The Cons have no respect for the SCC. This undemocratic conservative government has no respect for the Supreme Court which is the vanguard of democracy and constitution in fact they have shown again and again their contempt for SCC by constantly trying to undermine its rulings. The prostitution laws is a good example that SCC ruled in 2013 that the existing laws by making some aspects of it illegal would endanger the citizens (sex workers) and struck them down but the Cons responded with bill C36 which now makes every aspect of that illegal and significantly endangers citizens even more than before and though the new laws are very likely unconstitutional but the Cons headed by Peter MacKay manipulated and pushed it through the parliament in an undemocratic manner abusing their majority (and they got their majority seats by 25% of eligible voters only). Their reason for this of course was not out of care for the sex workers but rather to undermine Supreme Court of Canada but also to appeal to their based religious support to give them another fake majority to rule over the remaining 75% of population. Democracy at work.
  9. Yes the Cons form a majority with only 25% of eligible voters and shoved down our throats (the other 75%) their way of conservatism with backward legislations in an undemocratic manner and scandals and corruptions for 4 years. Enough said. TIME FOR A CHANGE. May be not only change of government but also electoral reforms. Canada deserves better.
  10. The only thing going well for the conservatives was the economy and that too has turned soured past six months. Dropping GDP for past 5 months putting us in a technical recession, minimal job creation even net job losses and possible Federal deficit, all would likely take away many long time conservative votes. Other than the economy I don't see anything else which may persuade many voters to vote for the Cons. Ever since they form a majority 4 years ago the country has been hit with scandals, corruptions, some still before the courts not to mention some undemocratic moves by the Cons like early end to debates in the parliament, pushing through legislations,....enough said. TIME FOR A CHANGE as 66% of Canadians have indicated in the recent polls and that is certainly my view.
