I haven't seen or read Ontario Liberal playbook (if there is such thing) but if they are promising better lives for average Canadians so be it and they have 3 more years to deliver those promises though I concede that I don't know much about Ontario politics.. There will be a repeat of 1994 election if Trudeau indeed wins a majority. I was a fresh graduate then just coming out of university after 10 years of studying for higher degrees and eager to start contributing but it was hard to land that first job under 10 years of conservative rule. The economy was in recession, high unemployment, rising costs but Chretien was elected as Liberal Prime Minister and though he inherited a huge deficit from the Tories but he was able to save the economy and Canada was booming by late 90's. This time round it is more than the economy which is at stake. It is Canadian values which is based on equality, compassion and kindness and respect for minorities. Racism, bigotry, division those are not Canadian values and not welcomed. Tories have violated Canadian values in my view time for them to go.

If you earn more than 200,000 than you should pay a couple of thousand more in taxes to help those a bit who can't catch up with the rising costs under 10 years of conservative rule with frozen salaries or job losses. It is only fair when we have millions of our children living below poverty and going hungry to school and so many people jobless and many working ones even have to cut on essentials like food and heat and seniors have to cut on medicine and food to pay for rent And I believe Trudeau's deficit would be 5 billion in third year and a BALANCED budget by fourth year. Initially they have a 10 billion deficit in order to invest in our crumbling infrastructure and create jobs for many jobless. If you are a graduating or a recent college/university graduate you would know how hard it is to land that first job and prospects under Tories is not well. Conservatives did it to themselves. In spite of years of corruptions and scandals and undemocratic secretive rule they were ahead in the polls by even a couple percentage points (the vote for them as usual coming from religious right and the small rich minority) even before the start playing with emotions (niqag) so they could form a minority government if they hadn't started with the politics of division and conquer (like abusing the niqab issue and going as far as calling other cultures as barbarc practices and proposing snitch lines and stirring anti-Muslim feeling in the country causing even attacks on Muslim women here in otherwise peaceful loving Canada) and fear mongering (saying a liberal election would be disastrous for the economy or like saying Syrian refugees may be terrorists and interfere with the selection) and personal attacks (like saying Trudeau supports genital mutilation which brought boos from large audience) but they couldn't help it because that is what they are.

Liberals marching towards a majority based on Nanos poll released October 12 - Yahoooooooooooo Liberals - 35.7% conservatives - 28.9% NDP - 24.9% http://www.nanosresearch.com/library/polls/20151011%20Ballot%20TrackingE.pdf One more week to go. Liberals surging in vote rich Ontario at 45% over Tories stuck at 32-33% while catching up to Tories in British Columbia at 29%.. And only 4% separates NDP and Liberals in Quebec now at 32.7% and 28.7% respectively. National Ballot – The latest Nanos tracking completed on the holiday weekend has the Liberals at 35.7% nationally followed by the Conservatives at 28.9%, the NDP at 24.3% and the Greens at 4.8%. • Accessible Vote – Asked a series of independent questions as to whether they would vote for each federal party, 52.7% of Canadians would consider voting for the Liberals, 42.3% would consider voting for the NDP, 38.1% would consider voting for the Conservatives, 26.3% would consider voting for the Greens and 34.3% of Quebecers would consider voting for the BQ.

I don't think this was what brought NDP down. I could be wrong but my guess is two factors worked against NDP. The niqab since they were stronger than Liberals on the issue and they lost a lot of support in Quebec because of that but Liberals were not as strong in Quebec to start with and second, the strategic voters abandoning ship joining Liberals as they realize that Liberals are the only force to stop another nightmare. It would be very likely my turn to say Yahoo tomorrow angrypenguin and for the next 7 days especially on October 20th

Strategic Voting - It needs to be done
CITIZEN_2015 replied to marcus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
. We need a stable good government. A majority is good if it is a good government. Chretien's majority worked well for Canada to eliminate the deficit eventually and make an economic sound Canada. Mulroney majority was good for Canada too to pass Free Trade. Majority is only a bad thing if there is an evil government with hidden agenda who will abuse its majority to legislate morality or cover up scandals and corruptions and especially when they have contemptible values and divisive based on race and religion. Those are not values either Trudeau or Mulcair believe in. -
EKOS just released putting conservatives ahead by 2.4%!!!!!. http://www.ekospolitics.com/wp-content/uploads/full_report_october_11_2015.pdf conservatives - 35.5% Liberals - 33.1% NDP -19.0% NDP is the lowest it has ever been in recent history in above poll. Still a statistical tie but We are not amused!!.

Great link ReeferMadness. What a big difference strategic voting will make. Lets do it. Canada Election 2015 If the election were held today, these are the projected seat counts based on the latest polls. Conservative120 Liberal134 NDP80 Green1 Bloc Québecois3 Independen0 Do you want a change of government in the 2015 Canadian election? Vote for the strongest candidate in your riding who isn't a member of the current governing party. If all non-conservatives voted this way, the seat counts would be: Conservative39 Liberal186 NDP107 Green1 Bloc Québecois3 Independent2 -
False claim again and this proves you not me has economic ignorance. They spend the money on infrastructure programs not expanding government programs. Likely budget for departments remains frozen but investments will be made on Canada's crumbling infrastructure. You are either deliberately making a false statement or are ignorant. As for borrowed money, That is exactly what Tories did in 2008. They borrowed money to spend on infrastructure to avoid a depression in Canada. And now Liberals planning to borrow (not as much as Tories but 10 billion dollars not 50 billion as Tories did in 2008) to invest in our crumbling infrastructure so that they create jobs for Canadians and kick start this dreadfully slow economy.. We are in an economic slow down and a boost is needed.

What are you saying Argus!!!!. You put risk losing a little credibility you have left with with comments like that. For example only Yesterday Joe Oliver (likely instructed by PM) playing politics of fear saying that if Trudeau is elected thousands of jobs will be lost and all CTV commentators said that no one is listening to these fear mongering conservative comments anymore. It is true that his economic plan would create a deficit which for an economy of this size 10 billion is not significant but fear mongering that Trudeau election causes thousands of job losses is a clear fear mongering. And under his watch just last month, over 60,000 full time jobs were lost and only seventy thousand much lower paid part time jobs created. Really!!!!!!. Oliver said: Oliver repeated that what the Conservatives have dubbed the "Trudeau-Wynne tax" would hurt the wallets of middle-class Canadians. Oliver said Trudeau "endorsed" Wynne's pension plan earlier this spring, and warned it could be used as a model for the rest of the country if the Liberals come to power. "One could surmise that this plan could kill over 100,000 jobs. This would be terrible for Canadians, it will send shock waves throughout our economy," the Conservative candidate said. The Ontario Liberals responded to Oliver's remarks Saturday afternoon. "The ORPP is a savings plan for Ontario workers designed to help them achieve retirement security. Joe Oliver is simply wrong when he calls it a tax," they said in a statement. http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-election-2015-joe-oliver-liberal-pension-1.3266143 As for politics of division, it is clear to everyone that they have used race and religion ad ethnicity to divide and conquer. I don't have to include new evidence for any of that. It is shameful that a government o Canada would resort to such things.

I did concede that niqab issue has widespread support in Canada and Quebec including myself but what I clearly said first of all IT IS A NON-EXISTENCE issue as no one in Public Service wears niqab and in citizenship only TWO women have been affected so the conservatives are focusing on an issue that does not exit to build support and second, they are playing the politics of divide and conquer and that is evil. It is a very good article that confirms what many Canadians including opposition leaders are saying and all is true. The conservatives have been playing the politics of FEAR and DIVISION and PERSONAL ATTACKS and that is BENEATH CONTEMPT. They so NOT deserves Canadian votes. They clearly demonstrated that they do not deserve to be in the government. The politics of fear and division is well known to all readers here as as for the politics of ridiculous personal attacks new in my list, the recent example of Greg Goodyear calling Trudeau a supporter of genital mutilation is contemptible The incumbent went so far as to say Justin Trudeau by supporting the niqab is in favor of female genital mutilation – a suggestion that brought boos from the audience and a shocked response from May. http://www.cambridgetimes.ca/news-story/5952081-niqab-debate-offers-heated-moments-during-cambridge-candidates-forum/ After all the evil deeds they have committed past many years it would be a DISGRACE to the greatinternational reputation of Canada and great reputation of peace loving passionate Canadians is God forbid and bite my tongue this party is reelected into government again.

Iranians can choose; why not Canadians?
CITIZEN_2015 replied to Machjo's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The whole niqab thing is a plot by conservative party to divert attention from their miserable records which include many misdeeds past 10 years. Worst is to fall into their trap and debating whether it is a good thing or a bad thing giving them publicity and change vote intentions on that basis. No it is not a good thing but I am not going to fall into trap and even consider voting for them because they wish to ban niqab during the citizenship ceremony and public servants (which btw in latter case this means banning them from streets too unless they takeoff their niqab right before entering the government department where they work. Btw, there is no public servants wearing niqab so conservatives are building support over NOTHING. It is a clear plot and a clear diversion and the polls show that intelligent Canadian voters don't fall into their traps anymore. Canadians have started to remember years of scandals corruptions secretive undemocratic behavior from a certain party overshadowing their niqab plot as polls show.. It is a Saudi thing. Yes the same country which these niqab opponents signed a 20 billion dollar deal to supply military equipment to!!!!. Hypocrites!!!!!!. A very interesting article to read!!! http://www.independe...s-a6688476.html Canada elections: Anti-Muslim prejudice is a nasty theme of campaigning as the liberal nation's democracy loses its way “The niqab is a distraction – a culture war fabricated to take voters’ minds off the real issues in this election,” the centre-rightToronto Globe and Mail announced in an editorial. “Don’t fall for it. Liberals maintain their 6%+ lead over conservatives in the latest Nano's poll released October 11. Yahoooooooooo Liberals - 35.1% conservatives - 29% NDP - 25% Poll results almost a mirror image of yesterdays by Nano likely confirming its accuracy. Liberals surging in both Ontario and Quebec!! National Ballot – The current Nanos nightly tracking shows the Liberals at 35.1% support nationally followed by the Conservatives at 29.0%, the NDP at 25.0%, and the Greens at 5.1%. • Regional Races – The federal Liberals lead in Atlantic Canada and Ontario while the Conservatives retain their advantage in ballot support in the Prairies. Quebec is a tight race between the NDP and the Liberals and in British Columbia it is a three way race in the Nanos tracking. http://www.nanosresearch.com/library/polls/20151010%20Ballot%20TrackingE.pdf Thank you so much for this. Yes forum poll also confirms Liberals 6% lead!!!!! another Yahooo.

:) I guess the Yahoo post depends on the poll results lol!!! Good to know I am not alone.
-
No Angus Reid was released yesterday. Tomorrow at 6:00 am there will be a fresh Nanos poll. I am a political junkie enough to actually wake up for it at that time!!.
-
Yes I read that too and at this stage of the game I didn't see it a positive development. My reason is because I think Mulcair wants to block the flow of NDP supporters to Liberals as those supporters wish to block a Tory take over at any cost but if they see that Trudeau and Mulcair are going to collaborate after election to defeat Harper then there is no more incentive for soft NDP supporters to jump ship and vote for Liberals. I think Trudeau should accept the olive branch only after the election and if he did not win the government but now it is not the time.
-
No poll released today. Only nano at 6:00 am but I couldn't find any other poll.

Likely not. They can't show up their faces. Wearing niqab may be

A very interesting article to read!!! http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/canada-elections-anti-muslim-prejudice-is-a-nasty-theme-of-campaigning-as-the-liberal-nations-a6688476.html Canada elections: Anti-Muslim prejudice is a nasty theme of campaigning as the liberal nation's democracy loses its way Instead of ensuring Canada’s place in the world, its long-standing traditions of UN peacekeeping and its multicultural, democratic inheritance, Harper’s mob has spent the past four years abandoning Canada’s partnership in nuclear disarmament negotiations and development links to Africa, has lost a traditional Canadian seat on the UN Security Council and ignored the debate over climate change. In their place, the Prime Minister has brought in new laws to limit personal freedom, to prevent Canadian expatriates from voting after five years abroad; he has divided his countrymen and women into “old-stock Canadians” and new citizens, demonised as anti-Semitic anyone who criticised his approval of Israeli policies and launched a legal campaign against one of only two women in four years who sought to wear a niqab, a face covering, during her citizenship ceremony. While joining Washington’s fruitless bombing campaign against Isis, Harper signed off on a £10bn arms contract to supply armoured vehicles to Saudi Arabia, a country from which massive funding has found its way to Islamist groups in both Syria and Iraq which Harper regards as enemies. “The niqab is a distraction – a culture war fabricated to take voters’ minds off the real issues in this election,” the centre-rightToronto Globe and Mail announced in an editorial. “Don’t fall for it. Wearing a veil is one thing – wearing a blindfold is another altogether.” But Canadians may indeed be falling for it.

Initially they saw moving up in the polls especially in Quebec playing on people's emotions. So they dialed up the rhetoric even more the following days even as far as calling it barbaric cultural practices expecting to rise in polls even higher closing in on the majority by politics of division and conquer not knowing that emotions are always short lived. After a few days people jumping to the conservative ship purely based on emotions realized that there are other more important issues affecting their lives and that their emotions are being exploited by conservative politicians. People also realized the vicious nature of these politicians that they stand short of nothing to be elected. Then they started going back to their own parties and some leaving conservative camps even and some determined ABCs originally on NDP's side to jump to Liberals as they realized that Liberals are the only force to stop these corrupt vicious politicians from forming a government.

Hundreds of Canadian university professors are condemning the campaign strategy of Stephen Harper's Conservative Party, which they allege has turned, in the last weeks of the election, to mongering fear and hate in order to win votes. In an open letter, signed by over 600 academics from a wide array of disciplines and published this morning in the Ottawa Citizen, the scholars state that the Conservative campaign has "flagrantly crossed the line" with its messaging about "barbaric cultural practices" — a term the letter claims is specifically tailored to play on bigotry without sounding bigoted. http://induecourse.ca/open-letter-regarding-conservative-party-campaign-tactics/ I refuse t respond to the idiotic post by a committed conservative supporter up there whose values reflect those of the heartless cold blooded conservative party based on undemocratic and divide and conquer principles.

I heard on CBC news that soon some 600 Canadian academics would release a statement condemning political manipulations for political gains based on religion and race by a certain political party. In fact I found the open letter. The following letter has been signed by 587 Canadian academics, condemning the tactics being employed by the Conservative Party of Canada in the current federal election campaign. It will appear in newspapers tomorrow, but there is no room in print to reproduce all of the signatures. So we are making the full list available here: http://induecourse.ca/open-letter-regarding-conservative-party-campaign-tactics/

Yes well stated comments. No democratic government has the right to decide for adult women what is good for them. No mistake, I am very much against niqab but we live in a democracy and that is what separates us from other countries where citizens are risking their lives to achieve what we have and the conservative party of Canada wishes to destroy it.

Even Muslim countries ban niqab why not Canada !!!!!! Because Canada unlike Muslim countries is a democracy (unless conservatives take over again) that is why freedom of choice is important unlike Muslim countries. Do you wish Canada to stoop to the level of those Muslim countries. If you desire such a country like Muslim countries then I suggest voting for conservative party may accomplish just that. Really I am surprised at your post Keepitsimple!!!! Really.!!!!!!!

Liberal Lead widens to 6%+ at the expense of conservatives Yahooooooo released by Nanos October 10 Nanos National Nightly Tracking, Three day rolling average of 1,200 voters (October 7th, 8th, and 9th, 2015) released October 10th, 2015 (6 am Eastern). Liberals - 34.8% conservatives - 28.6% NDP - 24.8% National Ballot – Nightly tracking completed by Nanos has the Liberals at 34.8% followed by the Conservatives at 28.6%, the NDP at 24.9%, and the Greens at 5.4% nationally. • Accessible Vote – Asked a series of independent questions as to whether they would consider or not consider voting for a party, 50.5% of Canadians would consider voting Liberal, 43.3% would consider voting NDP, 37.7% would consider voting Conservative. http://www.nanosresearch.com/library/polls/20151009%20Ballot%20TrackingE.pdf Angus Reid on line survey however released late last night shows as still a numeric Tory lead or a statistical tie conservatives - 33% Liberals - 31% NDP - 25% Last week they gave conservatives a 7% lead.
