@poochy - Again to clarify that IF and only IF you are making over $200,000 then your taxes would rise a bit. Trudeau plan gives more to the middle class than it takes away (if he takes away anything as he denies that given tax credits would be cancelled) so please don't fall for campaign of lies and fear by the conservative party.

It is not over until it is over. Things can turn around quickly though I doubt it because Trudeau is now being liked by most Canadians as the underdog who rose to fame and came out first in competition in spite of repeated attempts by his opponents to assassinate his character and his abilities but he came out victorious as the nice guy who wants a chance to work hard to provide a good government and make life better for 9 out of 10 of Canadians.

I deleted my posts Argus. It is childish what we post and I am as guilty. This is supposed to be a political debate among civil mature people!!!!.

And some people like to feel superior to those who disagree with them because those some people claim to make more money using phrases like "I make more money than you pay in taxes". It makes them feel important and their arguments whatever they are make them better people.

CTV news Power Play: Who is the preferred Prime Minister of Canada? Trudeau - 32.3% Harper - 28.1% Mulcair - 20% Justine Trudeau now leads (outside the margin of error) as the preferred Prime Minister of Canada. Yeah the guy who is not supposed to be ready is now the preferred Prime Minister of Canada and that says a lot about the conservative campaign and their style of negativity, fear and division.

Strategic Voting - It needs to be done

And one should get a chance. -
Of course your post comes from the source and more credible. My post was on the basis of what I saw on TV many seniors complaining especially veterans for various reasons but I stand corrected. Likely the tax reliefs Trudeau is proposing for middle class will benefit most of seniors and he has said he won't take away the given tax credits either.
-
Thanks for the link. It is unfortunate that younger people participate less. Very disappointing as it should be more important to them to vote. It is the future of a country at stake in which they have to live for many decades and the job growth as promised by liberals affects them most. Usually seniors are more religious than young people and the core support for conservatives is religious right (and the rich who hate to share their accumulated wealth with those less fortunate). So there may be some truth to that but also this conservative party has done very little for seniors.

A true committed conservative supporter or even may be a conservative party member. A dictator, an undemocratic arrogant individual who wants to decide who should or should not be allowed to vote. The more you guys show your nature the more you will go down in the polls and the election day so by all means be my guest. Do post more. No wonder you support the current conservative party of Canada whose leader is playing a game show host and uses the politics of division and fear to scare people into voting for his party. Sorry but this is Canada not a banana republic in some middle eastern dictatorship. Everyone has the right to vote here.
-
Actually CTV reporter (the one hosting Power Play) was saying that it could be good news for conservatives as he saw a lot of seniors in the long line ups and he said seniors usually vote for conservatives so likely they are out to cast votes for Harper (I didn't know seniors mostly vote for conservatives so that was new to me). I believe a higher voter turnout as the case may be this year means a lot of determined citizens wanting to throw away the party in power.

You basically discredit yourself on an obvious false statement in this post above. My post clearly says that based on Nanos recent release they are marching towards a majority and it clearly shows that it wasn't my prediction. And here it is:

Well stated comments!!. -
On September 22, EKOS reported a 9% lead for conservatives an almost a majority. All other polls were reporting statistical tie between the two several days before and after.
-
Thanks so much capricorn. It is important to remember the fact. We are all Canadians belonging to the same community of now 33 million people of all races and religions living in peace and relative prosperity and I have no tolerance for anyone to disturb that since that is what makes Canada the best country in the world. We all want a better Canada and higher standard of living for all Canadians and less poverty and more wealth (including Harper and conservative party) we just have different ideas on how to achieve those goals but we all want the same thing. We will be much stronger and more likely to achieve those goals united than divided and that is the main reason why I have chosen to vote for the Liberal party of Canada. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Citizen.

I didn't invent the fact and that is they had the worst record among pollsters for predicting 2011 results. Angus Reid (also indicating a numeric conservative lead) was the best within 1% accuracy and Nanos was second best with 1.4% accuracy from real results.
-
Ha ha good one . Thanks for the laugh. Happy Thanksgiving .

The only party having a real chance for a majority government is the Liberal party of Canada and even that based on two conditions. That the Nanos daily polls putting them ahead by 6 to 7% is correct and second that this lead is even widen further by another 3 to 4% over the next 7 days. The conservative party at best has 33% of support and has little or no chance to form a majority government. Ekos has always been out of touch. Only two weeks ago while all the polls were reporting statistical tie between liberals and conservatives they suddenly reported a likely conservative majority on September 29!!! and they had the worst record on predicting the 2011 election among all polls. I never even trust this pollster as I have said before.

Trudeau just rejected Harper's claim (who was a game show host earlier this morning) and said a Liberal government WILL RETAIN all tax credits and he said conservative leader resorts to lies about him and his policies to scare Canadians into voting for him and that shows his desperation.
-
Absolutely I agree. I just saw Justin Trudeau campaigning in Nepean today. HE IS GOOD!!!. Justin Trudeau promised to work very hard to bring a better government. While he admired past conservative party members and prime ministers who worked hard for the poor and held highest values and promoted Canadian values but he said (and I agree) THIS conservative party has broken ties with a past progressive party and lost the progressive part by wedge politics and personal attacks and politics of fear and undermining Canadian values.
-
Yes Tory attacks worked on Turner too in 1988 (I was a conservative supporter then as it still stood for Canadian values then under Mulroney). They called him a liar in regards to free trade BUT at that time it was Turner who fear mongered on Free Trade. Yes it worked for them in 2011 too when they put fear in voters' minds that global economic instability would mean disaster if there is a change of government. They are following same tactics but I have a feeling this time it won't work. Only time can tell.
-
Where does it go then?. To buy F-35s? To give it to GOP? or to give tax breaks to the rich and corporations? Oh sorry these are conservative plans. Conservative leader now playing the role of a game show host ALSO fear monger among Canadians on Taxes. Politics of Fear monger will never work. It shows the extend of desperation on the part of conservative party. The people I am speaking of, ARE middle class. it is not only the poor anymore who have hard times but middle class too joining the poor as they too finding it increasingly hard to pay for rising costs, frozen salaries and layoffs and hence essentials. If you don't know all these facts then you are living in your own comfortable dream life but seeing others.
-
I am not suggesting the money you worked for should be mine. I am saying that there should be a fairer distribution. How could someone making more than $200,000 sleep at night knowing that there are hungry children going to school, seniors dying in cold or inability to buy their needed medicine or nutritious food, jobless with university degrees unable to start life. It is my understanding that Income splitting only rewards the 15% top Canadians (though this is a figure I have read I am no expert). More taxes on $200,000+ income only affects top 1% richest. So be it. I am all for it. They have so much that they won't even notice a couple of thousand per year in more taxes and I am sure there will get or give themselves a raise soon well compensating more than the small increase in taxes they will have to pay!!!.

NEP was not a good move carried out in 1980 to 1985 and it had negative impact on the economy especially western Canada in particular Alberta likely why Tories still have 60% support there but I don't believe that Justine Trudeau has promised or has any intention of bringing back NEP. So I see it as not relevant to the politics some 30+ years later. Trudeau is not responsible for all the mistakes (and Tories too have made plenty) made in the past by Liberals at both federal and provincial levels .......
-
Justin is not promising none of above. It looks like Ontario politicians screw up a lot. Even NDP's Bob Rae was a disaster!!!! But Federal and provincial politics are different. I have confident that Trudeau era will be more like Chretien between 1994 to 2004 rather than Kathleen Wynne.
