Though the internet may have a few or a few hundred horrors' about those who received vaccines and reacted badly out of a few hundred million vaccinated but it is also by far fuller of over 2 million people who caught covid and DIED from it, In my view governments must make receiving covid-19 vaccines mandatory because those who refuse it will have a much higher probability to catch it and hence transmit it to other innocent people who made wise and smart decision to receive the vaccine and protect themselves and their communities.

What is taking Health Canada so long? While Canada and Canadians are desperate for Covid vaccines, Health Canada appears to be taking its time to approve the use of Johnson and Johnson vaccine or the AstraZeneca which their use have been approved in other western countries. Sometimes I ask myself if we really need such bureaucracy which may do more harm than good!!!!! Even right now I am not leaving home. I think that Ontario should follow Quebec and declare a curfew after 8 pm. A person is free to risk his or her life by taking risks like parachuting from a hill into a lake but they have no damn rights risking the lives of other people by their reckless actions like travelling abroad for leisure during pandemic or drink and driving.

Covid-19 response by various levels of governments has been weak. Vaccine rollouts slow and more importantly Federal government must close borders even to those citizens who choose to travel abroad. They must stay out until this pandemic is declared over because they are endangering many lives of many Canadians who followed the advice and stayed put. They have no right to do so.. So far about a dozen Canadians have been diagnosed with mutated easily spread UK Covid-19 virus and very likely many more will be diagnosed and some will lose their lives because some selfish (idiot) individuals decided to travel. No, because that person poses a danger to me and you and others by refusing vaccination not just to himself or herself in which case I agree a choice should have been given but this is not the case with covid-19. It is like drunk driving, You put the lives of other people in danger if you drink and drive not just yours so the law says it is illegal to drink and drive. Same for vaccination. Alternatively, If one chooses not to be vaccinated then he or she must remain in his or her home until pandemic is totally over. Random checks of vaccination cards by law enforcement will be made and those found in public without being vaccinated should be given heavy fines first time and given jail sentences and criminal record for repeat offenders. I prefer the first option though that is to make vaccination mandatory.

In my view vaccination should be made mandatory since those not vaccinated have much higher chance of being infected and if infected then they can infect others since vaccines don't provide 100% immunity but it can provide herd immunity if everyone is vaccinated.

Soviet Union was an evil empire suppressing its own people and half of Europe not to mention military invasions of other countries. A state based on repression and suppression will not last forever and will sooner or later collapsed by its own people, We have seen many examples of that in Europe and South America past many years and we will see more examples in Iran, Syria and ....... hopefully sooner rather than later.

It is not extraordinary to seek immunity for pharmaceutical companies especially in this case that billions will be vaccinated and in very rare cases (which out of billions could be hundreds of thousands of cases) when someone comes down with a disease years down the road they may blame the vaccine and try to sue the company. I for one as soon as it is my turn (essential workers and elderly must be first) I will be the very first on the lineup to get the vaccine. Covid-19 is no fun to have with likely long term consequences even for younger people.

I was responding to a question as how deficits comes down and I think the poster may not have been aware that it was annual deficits not cumulative and I explained how annual deficits come down in a particular year when emergency expenders end. No these figures are annual deficits not cumulative deficits. You don't have to pay them off for annual deficit to come down but not spend as much in that year.

The government cannot oversea all singled out exceptional cases. Those obvious cases will be followed and prosecuted however, this does not apply to the majority in need. You post reminds me of Marry Antoinette. They told her situation is grim just before French revolution as people don't have bread to eat. She responded let them eat cake. It is easy to claim situation is not grim from the comfort of your home. But i agree situation is not as grim because Trudeau government intervened and did not allow Canadians to become homeless and without income and that is why we now have 381 billion in deficit. Would you have preferred the reverse?

How many millions of Canadians will you throw out in cold or let their children go hungry and which respond programs to help Canadians will you end so that to bring 381 billion deficit to zero? Remember last year's deficit was 30 -35 billion so even if you had started with zero deficit then you needed to cut programs aiding Canadians in need by 350 billions.

Oh God, I thought it was 200 billion now you say it is twice as much!!!!. Well next year it won't be this kets take the middle number of 300 billion but 100 or 121 billion so please do the maths to see why next year's deficit will be so much lower.

It was an economic update and a very detailed one compared with previous updates not a budget which will come with much more details next spring.

I think you are purposely trying yo misrepresent numbers to advance your false case. It doesn't take a rocket scientist but a second grade high schooler to realize that the 381 billion deficit this year is created because (as part of it) of the 200+ billion one time spending to support those Canadians in need who may have lost their jobs because of pandemic or businesses to survive or renters not to become homeless and out in cold. You subtract this amount (the 200 billion) from 381 billion not add it, and you get what may be for next year as this expenditure will not be there. Trudeau government cares for the well being and survival of Canadians in these unprecedented times unlike you and your conservatives friends in Parliament who only think of yourself.

But you can do simple arithmetic's right? COVID-19 Economic Response Plan, which commits more than $200 billion to support Canadians and businesses through this difficult time. This cost will not be there after summer of 2021. Simply substract 381 from 200 and right away you see a figure close to what budget deficit is predicted for 2021-2022. Tens of billions will be also generated from rapid recovery post pandemic as businesses open up again and employment grows.

So what you or any other Trudeau fiscal critic will do instead?. Just what is that you will change? Will you eliminate economic response plans? will you throw Canadians out in cold?, force businesses go bankrupt laying off employees, Will you let Canadian children whose parents lost their jobs due to pandemic to go hungry and the elderly and sick die because they can't pay for food and power or the poor to starve, You will do all that as an alternative to huge deficit?
