What don't you understand about "You can't live on $3/hr"? People would be homeless and eating out of dumpsters, with their kids. Then they would soon die. I suggest you try it yourself. Let us know how it goes. Lol If business owners can't pay people a wage that they can live on, they just aren't capable of running a business. Thousands of businesses go bankrupt every year because of poor business plans and practices, and those lousy business people are always the ones whining for lower wages. Oh.Well.

No, that's not why. It's because the RCMP are the only police service in Surrey. RCMP are contracted to provide policing to many communities across Canada - all of those that don't have provincial and or city police.

All of them. Christianity didn't convert people... it just assumed all of their ceremonies. Lol
-
It's always been a struggle to unite Canada despite those divisions. Eg, Separatism - Quebec. "Let the eastern bastards freeze in the dark" - Alberta. Newfie 'jokes' Inhumane treatment of Indigenous people. Nothing new in divisions in Canada. It just rears its head more under pressure. Perhaps you believed in the rose-colored Canada as a child, but it was divided then too.

There is no "flood". Canada was built by successive waves of refugees, and will continue to be. And there is not really much cost to us either: Employment earnings and paying taxes make up the arrival costs fairly quickly. Canada does have a problem with paranoid and psychically disturbed white supremacists who catastrophize to rationalize their irrational fears. Childhood trauma is considered a contributing factor to that, but many other people choose more constructive outlets for such psychological disturbances: It's a choice.

I think that the yearning for return to a time when the country was "great" is really just a yearning for return to childhood, when we were told it was "great" and we didn't know or care about the complexities and monstrous injustices of the world. It wasn't ever as "great" as our childhood naivety allowed us to believe.

Pretty sure it's in the old testament too. What was your point?

Yes, I suppose extremist-Zionist would be another reason for throwing anti-Muslim slurs in irrelevant places.
-
Examples please? Vague claims with no evidence ...

When the shoe fits ...

Oh, ya, let's just get Sharia law paranoia in there. Lol Another white supremacist. Quelle surprise.

Cherry hasn't shown any dignity, failed to apologize, just endless 'explanations' and glossing over the racism in his remarks. "Browbeating"? The public backlash is what got him fired, and rightly so.

Link to evidence?

Ford was under orders to keep his mouth shut during the election. He was not allowed to do any public appearances, because he gets booed off the stage. Lol

Economics of Electric Vehicles Mean Oil's Days As A Transport Fuel Are Numbered https://www.forbes.com/sites/mikescott/2019/09/02/economics-of-electric-vehicles-mean-oils-days-as-a-transport-fuel-are-numbered/?fbclid=IwAR3XxjJb0bJ_FTDrJq-9rXdUz2Bb67g79rf4dD_Wh0LXH8z030rzYvo5Aso#70deefa15102 The future is not looking bright for oil, according to a new report that claims the commodity would have to be priced at $10-$20 a barrel to remain competitive as a transport fuel. ... More than a third (36%) of the crude oil produced today goes to fuel vehicles susceptible to electrification, and a further 5% to generate power. This means that “ the oil industry has never before in its history faced the kind of threat that renewable electricity in tandem with electric vehicles poses to its business model. “We conclude that the economics of oil for gasoline and diesel vehicles versus wind- and solar-powered EVs are now in relentless and irreversible decline, with far-reaching implications for both policymakers and the oil majors,” the report adds. Facts are facts. Are you listening Jason Kenney? Kenney has a challenge: To fiercely defend the oil industry and the workers who see no future but oil ... while equally fiercely pursuing alternative industries so there is a future beyond oil for Albertans. When you recall that Kenney was the driving force behind stealthily wooing multicultural communities' votes for Harper, without offending monoculture Conservatives, it becomes apparent that he may have the stuff for his Alberta mission. We can hope.

And your kids? Or were you thinking poverty wage only for single people?
-
You can't pay rent and eat on those slave wages. You're an idiot. Grow up.
-
You can't live on that. It's barbaric. You're an idiot. It's only boom time for bosses. Workers would starve and be homeless.

In this day and age, to be taken off a popular TV spot is far from being muzzled. You’re just losing a very privileged platform.”"

You can't force people to work for $3/hr. No one can live on that.

You miss the point. Very few people collect welfare long term. For most it is shorter term, for total breakdown in income, and you can't live long on welfare, can't pay rent utilities plus food. Then you're on the street. Disability may be short term or long term. EI is limited term. Student grant's and loans - medium term. Caring for a sick or debilitated relative ... short-medium-long term. OAS/GIS longer term for seniors. With guaranteed annual income we're just talking about bridging all those gaps, maintaining stability in housing and saving costs in the long term. If you really understand how much money we spend in staffing, evaluating people's circumstances and processing them on and off benefits, and in hospital, shelter, housing, food banks, homelessness, policing ... it is cheaper and healthier in the long run to provide a guaranteed annual living income to everyone.
-
And that's the type of society you think is preferable? Really? We're talking about normal life circumstances, interruptions in earnings, that occur to many people. This is a means for saving money that's already being spent, costs associated with human breakdowns. Perhaps you can think of it like your vehicle: You invest in oil changes, tuneups and other preventive maintenance so it lasts longer, uses less fuel, etc - ie, it costs you a bit upfront, but saves you MORE money in the long run, preventing catastrophic breakdowns, etc.

Rue, freedom of expression only means protection from punishment by the state - ie, freedom from legal/criminal consequences. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from social, employment or political consequences. Freedom of speech does not guarantee you an adoring audience, nor an audience at all. Alt-right demand a public stage and audience silence for creepy crap no one wants to hear anyway? Speech has consequences. They get booed. So do politicians and others. Oh.well. If you are as incapable of comprehending that as the alt-right racists, then I can't help you. I am a bit surprised though, as despite frequent disagreement I still thought you had a more developed sensibility.
