You're dying too. What do you have left 60-80 years? You'll be dead long before the French language will. Does that mean we should give up on you?

I was looking at the DJIA this morning. It is around 10,500. It seems that it has done diddley squat for two years, as I seem to remember it being at 10,500 two years ago. What a waste! People must be losing their shirts in a market like this, n'est pas?

NDP should focus entirely on the Liberals

Spoken like a true ostrich. -
From now on until the next election the Layton New Democrats should focus their entire on what they represent, attacking the Liberals, and completely ignoring the Cons. From here on in Harper is a lame duck leader and the Conservatives will be going nowhere until he is replaced and the Cons substantially moderate their policies so that they will appeal to a much broader cross section of the Canadian public. - from SES Research released yesterday: And quite frankly I do not think there is a bigger baffoon in the country than David Frum. He is so out of touch with the average voter in this country that he would do much better as a Yuk Yuk comedian than a political commentator.

Maybe if we didn't have this rush to convict on the part of the police we wouldn't have such a big problem. How would you like to be an innocent person in jail, let along hanged! A very good reason we don't have capital punishment is incompetent police work. BTW No 1 - the pig farmer so far is innnocent until proven guilty as he has not had his trail yet. That's the problem with your vigilante justice - you would send many innocent people to jail and even hang them. Thank goodness we have more intelligent people in charge of our justice system. No 2 - he is locked up and has been for a couple of years now, so don't try to suggest otherwise. -
It ain't gonna happen. As that Calgary Sun columnist said: "You don't trade in a Cadillac because it has a flat tire!" Canada is one of, if not the, prime destinations, and many people from all over the planet would give their right arm to be able to live here. Maybe if some of the peckerheads in Western Canada would learn a bit more French is about the only improvement we need.

Layton Overtakes Harper Second Most Popular Leader

Chief of staff is sixth to leave Harper's office The problem is that it is now way too late for Harper to turn things around. He has taken on the stigma of a loser and he will be an albatross around the Conservatives neck come election time. -

It sure is beginning to look like the Cons are NOT even going to be a major factor in the next election. Now even the Bloc is attacking them for their lack of political savoir faire. I think Duceppe has a point. Bloc criticizes Tories for lack of support Mad_Michael...there are two ways to deal with personal attacks here. One and probably the best approach is to ignore the jerks that make them, and the other is to report them to the moderator. Don't let these yahoos get to you. -
Leader Circle I think Black Dog lives in Alberta!

Progress made on waiting times Well according to Heath Minister Dosanjh we have cut patient waiting times, and he is working on improving the other areas of concern. Sure sounds like all our medicare problems will shortly be resolved, eh!

You have a point however not every polling company is connected with a political party. Actualy with how out of touch the Harper Conservatives are with the average Canadian and the issues that matter to them I'm surprised that the polling results for the Conservatives are not worse. The Harper Cnservatives are in major freefall and the Layton New Democrats would be best to completely ignore the Conservatives, and focus their entire strategy on attacking and defeating the Martin Liberals. -
What do you want for proof - Grewal to tape it?

You want a shakeup in the system. Pay doctors if their patients remain healthy and stop paying them if their patients become sick. For one thing you would see drug prescriptions reduced probably by about 90%. A lot of Canadians are now a bunch of over medicated wimps.

Strategic Counsel Polling Notice the order and the questions asked before the question on your choice of political party is asked. This is a bogus poll and the Gobe and CTV should know better than to shovel out garbage like this. Actually if I remeber correctly it was SES Research that led the way with any new polling trends during the last election campaign. -
Have you ever seen anything anywhere where the service was improved, and money was saved, through privatization?

Does anyone else get the feeling that riding along with the Harper Conservatives is like being on the Titantic: Stephen Harper's chief of staff latest to leave I wonder what is coming next! -

If the Conservatives were smart they would do two things right away: 1 Dump Harper 2 Lost some of their unpopular social policies But who says Conservatives are smart, eh! -

Well said. -
Actually from what I have observed Canada has the very best medicare system in the world. Why replace something that is not broken? It may need a bit of tinkering such as reducing doctor's power over the decision-making process. But overall it is a superb system.

Exactly. The problem is, ideology is the most important part of a leader of a political party. What Jack doesn't have going for him are his positions on issues, and his affiliation to the NDP. Both are highly unfavourable. He also has the Canadian leftist media in love with him, as opposed to Harper, who they dislike immensely because of his political views. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually it is Harper and the Conservative ideology that is killing Conservatives with the Canadian voters. Their positions on SSM, abortion, capital punishment, crime, security, war in Iraq, the US, taxes, etc. are diametrically opposed to what the average Canadian wants. -
Here is an excellent article about medicare in Canada. The CMC is meeting this week and we will see if they are with their patients OR against them. If they are against them the doctors should be removed from any decision making powers within the medicare system. Actually I have a lot more faith in the nurses than I do the doctors. I wonder if Canadians have any idea how often doctors misdiagnose them. MDs' group should stand firmly by medicare
