  1. I have some nice pansies in my garden. That's what you meant isn't it. Of couse we are good neighbours with the US but when they bully us it is important for Canada to stand up to them, and also if we really are their good friend, we need to tell them when they are wrong like what we did about invading Iraq. Things though are slowing changing in the US even although perhaps the President doesn't yet grasp it. Get Real
  2. Well, it sure sounds like the NDP are preparing for the Fall session: Article It is really gratifying to hear at least one political party not saying ME, ME, ME, all the time, and thinking of people that need assistance the most.
  3. An international civilian gun ban! That would be a good mission for Frank McKenna to lobby for rather than the useless ineffectual work he has done so far for Canada. He might as well be working for the White House with some of the ludicrous comments he has made since assuming office. Once again Canada could show some courage to other societies and lead the way like we have in the past with other issues.
  4. Canadians would have been there in a flash if the US has persued a legitimate ememy, but instead it was all about BIG OIL and nothing to do with capturing bin Laden or WMD. What a sick sick society we have to the South of us. Thank goodness for people like Jean Chretien and Cindy Sheehan who are the real heroes in this tragic war, because they have contributed to ended it sooner rather than later. And that is why the war monger Harper will never ever get his hands on the levers of power in Canada, no matter how badly the Liberals screw up.
  5. What's even sadder is that the Democrats would probably have done the same thing, don'tcha think?
  6. The price we pay at the pumps is basically determined by the crude oil prices which are quoted several times a day in the business media. Right now it is approximately US$65. a barrel. For the consumers there is little one can do except get a bicycle, a hybrid vehicle, and use gas tips. Here is the URL for Montreal. Quebec Gas Prices
  7. Someone Tell the President the War Is Over Bush's credibility is so low that Republicians in their desperation fabicated a story and circulated it about Cindy Sheehan making some comments about Isreal. I wonder if Karl Rove was behind that as well! Don't these morons ever learn!
  8. In New York or Geneva? Doesn't matter really, it's funny either way - discussing a global ban on private gun ownership in the two first world countries least likely to comply with the ban. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Banning civilian guns planetwide sure sounds like a resonable start to resolving the problem. But it is in our homes where the real work needs to be done.
  9. Yea, your appeaser mentality is sure gonna resoulve things with the US, isn't it! Like the BSE crisis - how many jobs were lost, and how much did Canada lose over that? Like the Devil's Lake water diversion - what is going to be the impact on Lake Winnipeg?
  10. I must have missed that. What kind of power does Harper have again?
  11. Good ole Canadian loser mentality, always afraid of the big bad bully to the South. Always appeasing the US. This is a coward's mentality. Enough is enough. This is blatant criminal behaviour on the part of the US. Oh, we're not allowed to say that. We might offend them. CRAP! Canada has been been talking for years over softwood lumber and it is has gotten us nowhere with the bully. We have lost over $5 billion and thousands of jobs doing what the US dictates. The time for Canadian action is now and if we have have to tighten our pocket books for a bit, so be it. That's why the US went to war because of the appeasing of the Bush administration because too many Americans were afraid to challenge them. It is time for Canadians to stand up and be counted here.
  12. posted by shoop shoop.....watch what you say. You're probably the next to go!
  13. NPR Its great features is that it is free of corporate advertising and that it takes a news story and deals with it in depth unlike the garbage you see on Global, etc.
  14. National Public Radio. It is based in the US but because so many of Canad's major urban areas are so close to the US border a lot of Canadians listen to NPR as well as Americans. There are no ads and it is supported by foundations and indivudal supporters I believe.
  15. Lay off with your blanket accusations or didn't you read what Greg said.
  16. Can Cindy Sheehan end the war? Good on her and shame on both mainstream parties in the US.
  17. Vigils to support Sheehan protest It appears that Cindy Sheehan is getting huge support for her vigil across the nation. This could not come at a worse time for President Bush, who is at an all-time low in the polls, and facing the possibility of indictments for some of his staff from the grand jury investing the outing of Valerie Plame.
  18. London Police Chief under Fire
  19. Time for a little reality check! Actually this GG appointment is going to help PM Martin. It has sewed dissention amongst the separatists and will generate support for the Liberals with the allophones, which are a sizeable minority now in Quebec. Combined with PM Martin being exonerated by Gomery we are facing another Liberal majority, and the end of Harper's political career, the evening of the election results. This is not necessarily what I wish to have happen, but it definitely what I see happening if the current trends continue. And I don't see anything on the horizon that is going to change things.
  20. Doctors support private health system This is an absurd decision and a major copout. Doctors have been front and centre in the decision-making process of healthcare but no matter how much they earn they just never seem to have enough. Oh, those poor doctors, doesn't everybody feel sorry for them!
  21. Yard blocked shooting investigation, says inquiry Don't you ever get tired of defending the indefensible? Police are not necessarily good guys per say. Ask yourselves why someone would want to work with a gun all the time ? Police are just like any other group of people in society, comprised of the good, the bad, and the ugly.
  22. UK police "resisted" probe on Brazilian's shooting Gee, I wonder why!
  23. What is up with Bourque? I know he is some kind of Matt Drudge wannabee but he has totally lost it over this GG's appointment. Now he is stating that Jean has an Algerian "nanny" WTF does that have to do with anything at all? Next thing we'll be hearing from him is that Jean is an Al Quaeda murderer. Bourque must really be losing it!
