This attack on Jean is going to backfire on the separatists. How do you think the Haitian community in Quebec, which is substantial by-the-way, is reacting to all of this?

Is there a way to get NPR in Vancouver?

Separatists shoot themselves in foot over Jean
mirror replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This is the crux of the problem, that the appointment was not made after consultations with the other party leaders, at least Layton & Harper, forget Duceppe, especially because it is a minority government. With this issue PM Martin is once again acting like a tin pot dictator. -

'Proud to be Canadians' I find it hilarious that comments by a few separatists put some Canadians into a tizzy about Jean's loyalty to Canada. -

shoop......please stick to debating the issues as our moderator has requested and keep the slurs to yourself. -
Gotta love the Liberal. Even in his trolling he shows how close-minded the Liberal Party of Canada is. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why are you purposely defying the request of our moderator?

CN donates $250,000 to salmon recovery project I think they should have their licence revoked. It would serve as a warning to others that this kind of operation and behavior is not acceptable.

Mirror, you called me a dickhead. Do you forget? So shove the sanctimonious bull. It's not a matter of going after Jean for purely partisan reasons. Jean is a bad choice. When push comes to shove and she has to choose to defend Canada versus a sovereign Quebec there are serious doubts as to what she will choose to do. Canadians should never have questions about how their GG would react in that situation. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You are making a mountain out of a molehill. The GG is a figurehead, not some partisan politician. They only problem with the GG is in your mind. Get over it, as she is here to stay.
-
Excellent comments. I totally agree. It is always the same. Those who don't like the GG's appointmernt have their own political agenda they are constantly trying to promote. One would think there would be more substatitive issues to get excited about! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Newbie: My problem is not the Jean is a Liberal appointment. I could care less. It's that our de facto head of state is appointed by anyone that rankles me. And as such, I really can't follow your advice about voting on the issue, since I can't to vote on that period, and constitutional reform is a less likely topic for parliament to consider than health care reform. You ****. mirror: You can be such a knob. Of all people. As if you were non-partisan. As if you don't push your political agenda every chance you get. Sheesh. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> BHS....Now! Now! No more name calling. Remember what Greg said today - stick to the issues and leave the personal insults out of it or you will be banned.

Western is on the list in the 203-300 section. Remember it focuses on science. -

Have you checked all 500 schools? -
Maybe a much better idea to control violence in Canada is to block American TV and movie violence from coming into our country: Attacks on Homeless Prompt Outcry

Has the CBC banned the use of the word terrorist like the BBC has? Does the CBC use the Bush term "extremist violence" instead of terrorist now?

Program director Slawko Klymkiw leaves CBC TV Apparently this is not releated to the lockout.

Do you remember any of the previous GGs campaigning either in elections or referendums?

As the CBC lockout enters its second full day I am beginning to realize how much I am missing the CBC, primarily the radio, as I don't watch much TV. I guess I have not listened to corporate radio for some time now, and I forget that is totally saturated with commercials. How awful that is! I hope this lockout gets resolved soon as I can't take much more of the corporate garbage parading as news out there.

I don't think it is the GG's role to campaign. She is an appointed figurehead who represents the monarchy.

Sorry, it was in the Guardian article: Link U of T - 24th UBC - 37th -
This is turning out to be a brilliant move by PM Martin more and more with each passing day. The separatists have discredited themselves by coming on too strong, after all it's a free country, and the right wingers who are willing to attack anything progressive in this country.

Murdered Brazilian had no backpack?

Maybe racial profiling doesn't work after all, eh! This is all very bizarre and some people are already calling for murder charges to be laid against the British police that did this. Hopefully we will soon be privy to all the details. -

Now even Harper supports the GG. I suppose that is the final nail in the coffin of the people that opposed her nomination.
