  1. Didn't Australia have a referendum to abolish the monarchy and become a republic a few years ago? I wonder how loud the GG is there now after that! Ok now this has bein fun arguing in a hypothetical scenario, but the GG will never do anything to raise one freakin eyebrow in this country because of the fear of the backlash that would come from the public.Period.End of story. There are absolutely no arguments or examples that you can use that I cannot twist against you. WWWTT
  2. Sounds like a good team to me. Once you get people arguing who is the better MP in the NDP fold then eventually others such as Olivia Chow(definetly the best looking) and others come out and this party looks very united and competant to run Canada from coast to coast to coast. WWWTT
  3. Ever since Cretien left the party in the hands of Paul Martin they have bein in a whicked slide. And the liberals that I talk too are all in some kind of "denial" or are living in a fantasy world that somehow they will be back on top.But when you ask them who will take them there and which ridings etc,etc or any details really it becomes obvious that they are counting on luck. Now heres the thing. The liberals are now made up of well to do MP's who are there only to seize power.Once this becomes futile or a fruitless venture, being an MP will lose its appeal if there will never be an opportunity to have a seat in cabinet. I predict a mass exodus on a biblical scale And its only a matter of a few days before we see the polls start swinging in Ontario. When that happens many people will be turning to McGinty and pointing a finger at him and requesting he kindly put his head on the silver platter and close his eyes. And thats where this problem for the Liberals started,in Ontario, with McGuinty. WWWTT
  4. I wouldn't hold so much faith into the belief that the GG can do as he may please. The GG behaves in a manner as to not upset the public to avoid a lynch mob. If the majority of MP's,elected by the citizens of Canada was to approach him after the failure of the budget or any other confidence motion he must submit to their wishes. The alternative would be to call an election. In wich case the end result would be in new constitutional talks to abolish the monarchy in Canada wich is the least popular in Quebec. WWWTT
  5. Lots of talk about this subject after the merger on the right a few years back, but it seems to have faded. But now that we are on the cusp of a NDP upset over the Liberals are the leftys on the S.S.Liberal ready to talk merger and abondon ship. I wouldn't be suprised to see a half dozen libs jump over to Jacks team May 3rd if things keep going at this pace. The polls are moving in the NDP's favour at a pace that could see them in minority territory, that would cause any die hard Liberal to salivate at the proposition of being on the winning side. This campaign is getting better by the hour. WWWTT
  6. Layton-mania is now being compared to the conservative sweep of 84 that started in Quebec. He is definetly got the momentum. Harper and Ignatieff are reduced to the same stale bickering, helping to swell the NDP ranks in their desperate frantic search for attention.Any attention even for bad behavior even seems as if it would help. And the spill over affect now seems to be taking hold in Ontario. NDP minority? WWWTT
  7. You may be right But theory and practise are two different things Mainly for the preservation for our system If the GG rocks the boat,he's gone for good. WWWTT
  8. I absolutely agree that the GG yields a tremendous amount of power and influence. And not only after a budget is voted down. However the GG cannot say no to the majority of the MP's in the house. This to my knowledge has never happened and you are only using your opinion to reach the conclusion that the GG would say no to a Bloq led government with the backing of the majority of the elected lower house reps. Keep in mind that it would be very risky for the GG to go against the democratic process and would enrage the public and could herald in new constitutional talks of a Canadian republic. WWWTT
  9. Awesome thread, excellent thinking on your part betsy In my opinion if I am correct Harper still has first shot after the election. He can table a budget and the GG will still have to read it in the house. Then the vote. If shot down then I believe that that the scenario you propose is possible. I also believe that the GG can not be biased against a party from Quebec. If he is then all hell will break out and this country will go down the road of constitutional choas. I think the GG would allow it,after all he is only a figure head, play it safe and will not show his opinion. But judging from the last coalition letter the Bloq are not interested in any serious portfolios. However 70+ seats would give them a commanding voice WWWTT
  10. Ok here is my take on this issue. Drugs are bad for me and I will not do them. My interpretation of drugs is very wide and and include cofee(cafine),junk food(McDonalds,Cola,KFC,etc),alcohol, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, elicit mushrooms and you get the idea. And as far as I am concerned if someone was to ask me what is the worst drug out there I would close my eyes and randomly pick any one from the list above. Drugs are strictly a health issue and should not be dealt with soley in the criminal justice system. This issue will always be percieved as a problem as long as it is improperly addressed. This is a very serious issue because of the resources that it attracts from our system and should be addressed. This also reflects another failing in the Harper administration WWWTT
  11. Ok maybe my language here is a little too much. I appologize. Still do not let this distract from the fact that Ignatieff is a bad debater and does say things unwise. He would still greatly benefit from debating with people who lets say do not hold back any punches. WWWTT
  12. He actually does look good for his age. Maybe the signal being sent from your eyes to your brain is getting scrambled? WWWTT
  13. Jacl Layton wants to eliminate the tax on home heating fuels and this would seriously help out. Yes there are politicians trying to help. Help them help you and on May 2nd put your mark beside your local NDP candidate. WWWTT
  14. Your entitled to your opinion, and unlike some hear(Wild Bill) I will do nothing to defend your opinion or your right to express it. Because when you abuse your rights you then lose your rights. And unlike many people here I got off my ass and did something.I approached my MP and freely expressed my opinion to him and asked him to help me on more than one occasion. And there's a phrase for that. Its called "The squeeky wheel gets the grease" Ok now I never invented this saying or inventing "taking action into my own hands" but from the way a few here talk I did. WWWTT
  15. If this is such a well known great statement then why aern't any politicians (Harper) using it in his campaign. Its because it is freekin ridiculous and would turn into the "Kiss of Death" I am not even sure if you yourself believe this WWWTT
  16. So by your definition extracting money from hard working common folks through a monopoly is creating wealth? I call it robery Time to vote NDP! WWWTT
  17. I appologize CANADIEN. Thanks to you I have realized that I may have implied that all space alliens are racist. However if you carefully read what I have written I actually imply that MD00 should have not made any such comments that he has. WWWTT
  18. Yep,caused by the irresponsible oil companies who only care about their profits. WWWTT
  19. I am not prepared to share any ideas with you at this time Let me ask you whats Harpers or Ignatieffs solution? WWWTT
  20. Unproven,unfounded. 100% fear mongering=Harperland. WWWTT
  21. The price of gas is inching closer to 1.40/L Home heating costs up near 30% Food up Wow does anybody here really believe that the conservatives or Liberals can help the average family in Canada? This is the worst news since the recession hit in late 08. Time for a real change in direction, lets put Canadians ahead of corporations. Vote NDP WWWTT
  22. Excellent piece of literature, are you a profesional wrestler? WWWTT
  23. Ignatieff is very bad at debating period. I don't believe there is anyone that could help him. My best advise for him would be to register in MAPLELEAFWEB under some inconspicuos name and get his hands dirty with the conservative low-lifes here. Once he can start getting his head around how the conservative brain works(or doesn't)he will have no problem with Harper. Same goes for Harper. Actually by May 3rd they will both have lots of free time to persue such ventures. WWWTT
  24. No I clearly heard a business rep for the CAW throw his full support behind Andrew Kania and Mike Ignatieff before he handed off the mic over to Andrew at this rally. WWWTT
  25. I was invited to this rally personaly from Mike Ignatieff himself(pre-recorded telephone message) Now I am not a liberal supporter but my current MP is Andrew Kania and I felt that this would be a good opportunity to at least meet him. I shook Andrews hand and we exchange a few words,I asked him if he could send more staff workers to the Canadian consulate in Hong Kong to alleviate the current backlog there if they are elected to power.I believe his response was a typical unmemorable political one and then he moved on to the next ass to kiss. But what really confuses me is "Why is the CAW supporting the Liberals".I thought they were die-hard NDP supporters. Is it because they feel they can further their agenda by supporting a party they may percieve as having a better chance seizing power? And what will happen when the NDP become more popular and eventually form government? Will the NDP punish the CAW for turning their back on them?Or will the NDP take them back into the fold? WWWTT
