BC votes to get rid of the HST
scouterjim replied to scouterjim's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Sure we are responsible for it....thanks to a bad tax implemented by a government that lied to us. If they had told us right out at election time, it probably would have been accepted. As it was, they did an end run on it, and are now forced to rescind the tax. -

Yup. Pre-election - "We will not inplement an HST!", "No, there will be no HST.", "As long as we are the government, there won't be an HST". Post election - "We are implementing an HST because it is good for you." -

Forgive me if I doubt that. From what I have read, NO prices have dropped due to a tax. -

The businesses not only did NOT pass savings on to the consumers (they pocketed them), they RAISED prices in order to pocket more. -
Apparently 54% said "Get rid of it." Now I won't pay 12% on things I never paid sales tax on before, my restaurant bills will go back to 5%, and big corporations will have to start paying taxes on their products again. The tax created no jobs as was promised, didn't save tax payers money despite claims it would, and did not drop prices as we were told would happen (like that would ever happen). It was a bad tax period.

One has to admire the work of those who brain washed you so many years ago. They did a fine job.

I KNOW both the Bible and HP are fiction. Stories written for entertainment and with a moral behind them. YOU cannot accept the Big Book of Bronze Age Fairytales is just that...fairytales.

Where was creation proven? I have seen no facts, and the only "proof" is a book that has been changed and altered over 3000 years. Give me time, and I can "prove" to kids that Harry Potter is the truth.

Israel tells the US what to veto in the UN. They have done so in the past, and will continue to do so in the future. The US complies because AIPAC has a powerful lobby in The House and Senate.

I agree that evolution does hold the better hand as to evidence.

Religious freedom is a strong cornerstone in this nation. Would you prefer that Canada or the US become "Christian states" in the same sense of an Islamic state? No thanks. It would be little different than living under the Taliban. -
The US will veto any attempt at recognizing, or seating the Palestinian state in the UN. Israel has ordedred this.

Creationism is still just a theory, as is evolution. NOBODY has definitive proof of either.

Newfoundland and Labrador General Election

I have a friend running. I won't say who it is, but I think his chances of re-election are good. -
Big corporations like Wal-Mart have a battery of high priced lawyers in their stable. The average working person cannot afford to compete. That, plus the fact courts are biased towards big money, means the little guy has a micro chance of winning a law suit. The only people who the law panders to more than big money is criminals.

She was a Liberal MP. Of course she did nothing!

Corporations will buy Romney as easily as any other politician.

The answer is right there in the article. "Quebec". God forbid that ANYTHING happens to an industry in Quebec. Anywhere else in the country, okay, but NOT in Quebec! -
The rest of Canada not cheering for the Canucks?

Cherry is a fool who thinks he is funny, but fails badly in that regard.
