Lib states in in decline. Calif is the ulitmate experiment in Liberal Madness. When Davis first took office in 1999, the state was flush. As recently as June 2001, California had a $7 billion budget cushion. Then, state revenue plunged along with income-tax payments that had been tied to the stock-market boom of the 1990s. Such payments have fallen by more than two-thirds, to a projected $5.3 billion in the fiscal year that began July 1, from $17.6 billion in the 2000-01 fiscal year. In other words they were milking the high tech sector to meet bill payments. Not smart. Unable to agree on either tax increases or deep spending cuts, the legislature and Davis cobbled together a spending plan for the current year that relies heavily on fund transfers and borrowing. Fiscal experts say the state will face a budget gap of at least $8 billion in the year beginning July 1, 2004. Now, the Field poll has found that 76% of Californians believe the financial condition of state government has worsened in the past year, more than at any time in the 21 years that the group has asked the question. Two-thirds of Californians say they are unhappy with the recently passed state budget. In an August survey by the Field Research Corp., an independent San Francisco polling group, 83% of Californians said they think the state is in bad economic times, the highest level since 1993. In the poll, 76% of Californians say the state is "seriously off on the wrong track," up from 54% a year ago and also the most negative finding in a decade. This is why there is a recall and an exodus of 300.000 people out of the State in the past year. The Dumbocrats and their Left Liberal allies cannot manage a grocery store properly let alone a major economic engine of the world economy. They should go back and hug their trees from the sidelines while some adults repair the damage.

I agree Ned. God is separated from the state, the state has no business in limiting the interpretation of religion or using the Constitution to impose 'Politically Correct' mindlessness. The Church is important as a buffer against State power. It is important as a source of spirituality and moral roadmap for some people. I am not religious, but I can respect those who are. Israel is Western, democratic and surrounded by countries that want to dismember and eat it. Of course it will possess any and all weapons to defend itself and well it should. The Left Liberals would have the Israeli's disarm, profess their love and admiration of the superior Arab culture and then watch their men and children get systematically destroyed. Nice idea. There is nothing relative about security and yes there are Good countries and Bad regimes. Israel is country we should support. The Arab world is populated by regimes that are bad and need change. Period. There is no need to cry about 'root causes'. Security is not about Post Modern Peacenik love. It is the prime function of government and a strong military is a sign of being an adult. Too bad Canada is still a child. If you are so worried about those wonderful Arabs go to Palestine and fight for your cause.

Socialised health care costs are nominally at 10 % of GDP - in fact they are quite a bit higher when you factor in long line ups, poor service, underpaid and overworked personnel, poor technology and bankrupt hospital systems [the OMA has repeatedly said Ontario's hospitals are technically bankrupt]. The real cost of Health Care in Canada is 13 % or about the same as US levels, with less access, less doctors per capita, and less technology per capita. The same is true for Pensions, Energy systems, and susidised businesses and agriculture. As in Orwell the Canadians are the sheep baying that 4 legs is good 2 legs is bad. Innovation, change, and for profit is bad in Canada, merciful, compassionate, loving, tender Gov't control is good. No empirical evidence supports this idea. In fact the greatest reduction in poverty in world history came in the last 50 years due to expanded trade. China and India have reduced their poverty rates by selectively liberalising their economies. Germany and Japan the ultimate fascist/socialist regimes were coopted into Western Liberal powers and became powerful trading nations and economic units. For Profit is okay - it works. Run the computer, software, car or any other industry like you run Health Care in Canada - and your entire economy would ressemble the Soviet Union. What a winner of an idea that was.

Moderate Republicans [ie. Liberals in red ties] and Dumbocruds would not cut program spending. Non military spending is up 18 % in the past 3 yrs - why ? Politicians refuse to cut fat and pork. This is the deficit problem, not the tax cuts. As history proves tax cuts increase revenues in the medium term. This will happen and already these tax cuts have stimulated the stock market and business/cap investment. This means jobs will return faster than if they had not occured. Basic Economics. Very difficult for most Liberals to comprehend.

What drivel. A good case can be made that Canada is a sissified socialist country with little understanding of history, morality, wealth accumulation or defending liberty. You guys would be saying, if this was 1939, that 'Hitler can be accomodated', [Liberals always think that they can control madmen], that 'lebensraum is not such a bad idea', that 'the Jewish question is an internal German matter' [Liberals are rather anti-semitic] or that 'Fascism has at least solved unemployment." Ninnies. Being proud of your country - whether you were born in Uganda, Armenia, Turkey or Canada - is not unique. Any simpleton believes that because he was born in backasswards Manitoba his country is King. What is more intelligent is to be a patriot - which means take what is good and make it better. Take what is weak and improve it. There is no debate like this in Canada. Here Canadians are perfect, US is bad. Duh, what analysis. Canadian Government spending is 42 % of GDP vs. 30 % in the USA. Productivity is 1.2 % in Canada and 3.5 % in the USA [2003 data]. Serious assaults per 100.000 people is at 140.2 in Canada double that of the USA. Theft per 100.000 people is 4000 in Canada more than double that of the USA. [Economist World in Figures, 2002, p. 93] More people are employed by Revenue Canada than we have in the military. Americans give 6x more to charity. Canada is not better, more moral, or more decent than the USA. Get over it.

What the Dumbo's can't understand along with their liberal ninny media friends is that pre-emption is the only way to win the war on terror, and yes dear Canadians there is a war going on. The entire Middle East must be redrawn. Hussein was a vital first step. Removing Hussein removes, training campes, money for terrorists, WMD capability and a threat to Kuwaiti and Saudi oil supplies. The West cannot lose. Terrorists will terrorise, bomb, maim or dislocate but they can't conquer. We can and will. The process of dragging the Islamic world into reality has begun. It is a process that the EU, UNO and Canada have ignored. As for Bush's plea for more UNO involvement it serves 2 purposes: 1. Shuts up the pleading Liberal media and 2. Defrays some expenses.

First the US is not as liberal - or free market based as people think. Gov't has always played a huge role in US economic development from the times of Hamiltonian mercantilism to selective NAFTA in which only certain industries, already cross border in nature, are affected. The US maintains a plethora of regulations, taxation levels and constraints against 'capitalism.' Sarbanes Oxley is just the latest set of regulatory impositions that constrain governance and private sector action. Having said that the US is freer than other economies - less onerous gov't and tax levels and more capital accumulation. The depth of US capital markets and the high rates of return ensure that the US will be the world's pre-eminent power for the coming 100 years. China notwithstanding. Productivity is higher in the states, so are profit levels and so is 'creative destruction'. Canada and the EU bank on security and risk aversion. The US banks on innovation and getting ahead. This is why their standard of living is higher than Canada. Being a proud Canadian should not obscure the facts of reality. Canada is poorer.

That is right Ned. In 1999 as I outlined before, and far before that, there were reports outlining the huge threat Bin Laden posed to US national interests. Even Blair in 1997 stated that Al Qaeda and terrorism were massvie threats to Western interests. Canada is a very selective 'partner' of the US. It free rides off of the US military and drug firms, and selectively promotes free trade with the US as long as domestic vote buying interests are not affected. Ned you are right, there will be no Continental joint defence initiative. And the result will be what ? Evenutally the US will tighten its borders with Canada - to stem future threats and current illegal immigration and abuse of the US market. At that point Canada will be caught - will it be willing to face reality and acknoweldge that its pathetic immigration policy, faineant border control system and lack of military muscle are the major factors in continuing friction with the US ? Or will it fall back on Trudeauian/Chretienesque anti-American dogma and national socialist slander and posturing ? A strong military is a sign of adult hood. It shows a willingness to play a real meaningful role in today's dangerous world. Canada has so far proven its adolescence.

Left Liberalism is a philosophy of control. They apologise for success ie. being a Western Orthodox based culture is now in the world of PC unworthy. They try to accomodate Naziism, Communism and Militant Islamism. They try to appease. They appeal to equality. They look for 'root causes' for the most obvious crimes. They tell us that terrorism can be managed and there is no need for pre-emptive strikes or a war. They pile on taxes and debt and declare it moral leaving it to future generations to pay off. They cherish socialised medicine. They preach ideology that exalts sameness and slanders people who oppose and fight for freedom.

Followed by tears as the CBC shows Maggie Trudeau getting laid in a NYC disco by Geraldo with bad hair. The young Trudeaus will say the same insipid nonsense as all the other megalomaniac demagogues across the globe who spout the same rhetoric with 'insert country' here in each sentence. Vague, feckless, cowardly. Trudeau's legacy which is piled on top of fat, stupid and arrogant.

Too busy practicing fellacio with assorted fat girls, Billy Boy let Bin Laden blow up the US Cole killing 17 sailors and then refused to follow the advice of his own Counter Terrorism Chief Richard Clarke to blow up Al Qaeda assets and buildings in Kandahar and Kabul. Billy and his little friends invoked the usual litany of nonsense. A pre-emptive strike would break international law. Bombing Muslims would cause multi-cultural tension. Blowing up the Cole was a bad thing but not that bad to start a war. The Euro-ninnies might cry. King Kofi and the UNO might pout. And so on. Let's face it - Clinton is a coward. That goes for most Dumbocruds. If they spent half as much time solving problems as running away from them, they might actually have something intelligent to say. At $3,670 per capita, California's state and local tax burden is sixth-highest in the nation. That's far higher than neighboring Nevada ($2,742), Arizona ($2,677) and Oregon ($2,682 and no sales tax). It is called 'penis envy' in psychological terms. The 'root cause' of terror comes from 2 areas: 1. Saudi Arabia - an artificial creation now run by the Saud family. This country must be dismembered. Fascistic despotic regimes that infuse Islam with a vengeful national socialism that is directed not at the failed internal state, but to the Great Satan. Jenin and other Palest. camps - these were set up to be temporary back in 1948 - why are they still in operation when they are used as breeding grounds to recruit suicide bombers and jew killers ? The UN has no right to breed terrorists using Western money and funding. These camps exist because Arafat and his foul band know the value of having the UN involved in indirectly legitimising his violence and directly funding it. 2. Direct funding of terrorist leadership. Arafat the world's ugliest terrorist and probably the shortest as well, receives enough money to pad a few Swiss bank accounts and enough to pay off suicide bombers - usually 17 year old girls who implant Semtex into their bras and wander into pizza parlours to kill a Jewish mother or two. Same can be said for 'aid' programs to other broken terrorist states and their leadership. The idea that there are moderates in terrorist countries does not make sense. The only moderate terrorist is a dead one. 3. Iraq - during the 1990s Kofi and his little gang, stole $21 billion from the Iraqi's in the oil-for everything program. This was why the UN was against Gulf War II - Iraq was the largest single UN program and the mainstay of its finances. The UNO was directly responsible not only for this monetary theft, but for the death of 20-50,000 Iraqi's per year due to embargoes, and not being able to defend its own resolutions due to French, Chinese and Russian self interest in Iraqi trade. 4. UN Human Rights Group. Libya chairs this with Cuba, Sudan, Nigeria, China and Egypt as newly added members. This is so pathetically farcical it makes one cry. And let us not forget the ultimate UN program: 5. Kyoto. Not one shread of evidence exists that temperature change, CO2 emissions or methane emission levels have changed due to human activity. Yet the UN wants to have the largest transfer of wealth and imposition of trans-national taxation in history to solve something that does not exist. It wishes to punish success and clean environments and transfer dollars to dirty, corrupt, sick sad little states in the FSU and Africa. Wonderful group this UNO. Frankly I am damn sick of it. Reform it, and cut it down to size, to do 2 or 3 things well. It is too large, cumbersome, corrupt and useless at this point.

Canadians have no money they are poorer than the US for one. Second, the attitude is - 'let the State do it'. This permeates the political scene where apathy reigns supreme. Only 30 % of the soddened Torontonians wearily push themselves off their fatuous backsides and vote in municipal elections. A little over 55 % in Fed and Prov elections. Why ? Polls are political proxies and the questions that are asked are so vague, dumb or superficial as to be meaningless. I have a problem running gov't by Polls. That is not the job of people who lead, who have information you don't have, who have experts you don't have, who have resources and material references you don't have, who have staffs to produce analyses that you don't produce. Both NAFTA and the WTO ruled AGAINST Canada's subsidies but asked the US to look again at its calculations of the duty. So the US did and the rate went up from 19% to 30 %. Good one Boys.
