Ned, Canada supports the UNO to free ride. The US pays all the costs to maintain the system. Canada free rides off your military, your drug companies, your economy and then complains when Bush snubs Chretien because Canada does absolutely nothing to help out with the war on terror, except put 2000 men into Kabul which has stretched our military to the breaking point. In the media here there is angst and panic that someone in the military might get shot. Oooh. Yes ladies the military means war. If you don't want to die don't join. Canada is a child country. An adolescent. Full of holier than rhetoric while ignoring that its tax and debt structure not to mention the inefficacy of its programs, immigraiton and military leave much to be desired, considering most are bankrupt.

I have to laugh when reading GM food talk. Hey einstein's ALL the food you eat is genetically manipulated. There is no natural food, unless you walk out the woods and graze on some daisy's or mushrooms. Evthg in the stores has been modified. GM is safe, necessary and will ensure that more people are fed better food. Relax with your nature is best nonsense. And by the way don't eat that apple, i guarantee you that it has been altered over the past 10.000 years, since people first discovered the fruit in Almaty Kazakhstan. GM has been around for a long long long long time.

Damn, i forgot. I got McGuinty mixed up with Howdy Doody Well the best we can hope for is like you said a Lib minority, Flaherty in the saddle and Howard Hampton confined to a mental hospital [publicly funded of course], somewhere.

Iraq And Al Qaeda - No Links You Say?
Craig Read replied to Craig Read's topic in The Rest of the World
The UN attack has everything to do with Al Qaeda in 2 ways. First, the jihadists are going to Iraq to fight the West. The UN being a post modern [ie. lets all dance naked together and be equal] institution was negligent in its security and paid a heavy price. It was ignorant of the threat that extreme Islam in any form poses. Second, there can be no doubt that the Baathists and Al Qaeda are cooperating and have cooperated at some level in times past. The Baathists must be getting funding and weaponry from somewhere - most probably the Al Qaeda network as well as local caches though that is more difficult with the US prowling the landscape. The problem with the media is the misrepresentation of A.Q as some 'formal' group. It is not. It is a collection of extremists spread through the Islamic world from different parties and groups. The hub is Bin Laden's cave but the group is very dispersed and it would be folly to state that such a dispersed group had no ties to Iraq. The UN attack should wake up the post moderns [ie. military force is no longer required in the relative world of today], to the task at hand. -
Ansar Al Islam is an Iraqi terrorist group operating in Palestine and elsewhere with close links to Al Qaeda. The head of the Kurdish security forces in the north was quoted as saying a few days ago that Ansar al Islam followers have been sneaking across the border with Iran and are setting up cells in Baghdad. Whoops. Training camps have been found in northern Iraq along with Al Qaeda operatives and manuals on chemical warfare. Whoops. Yesterday the wonderful Muslim extremists blew up the UN building in Baghdad. The UN refused US security and paid the price for their ignorance of how reality works. Whoops. Yesterday's bombing was notable in that it wasn't against U.S. soldiers but against non-American civilians trying to restore normalcy to post-Saddam Iraq. As a "soft-target" the U.N. was of course more vulnerable to a truck bomb. But the U.N. was no doubt also chosen to intimidate countries that are now contemplating the dispatch of either troops or civilian experts to help rebuild Iraq. The persistent attacks on water mains, oil pipelines and other essential infrastructure are also designed to prevent stability from returning to Baghdad. Welcome to the real world Post Modernists. Still want to hide behind your skirts and shriek about 'socialised health care' and 'all people and cultures are equal'? Thought so.

If there is a gene prove it. If tumours cause sodomy prove it. If gay marriage further strengthens families and societies prove it. If gay marriage is a part of the Charter of Rights prove it. If gay marriage is a part of the Church prove it. If gay marriage does not destroy the separation of powers between the church and state prove it. If you can't prove any of the above, shut up, stop weeping and cancel gay marriage. I am sick of 'positive rights' with 0 proof of their efficacy.

Terminator As Governor/saviour ?
Craig Read replied to Craig Read's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Arnold will fix the state. His main problem might be Buffet not the Budget. What needs to be done is to reduce all the taxes, worker's comp increases, regulation, gov't increased salaries and payouts to unions and trial lawyers that Moonbeam Davis bequeathed to the voters. If Arnie does not do this, the state will sink further. Junk bond status is pretty low and that is where Cali is at right now. In any event the WORST scenario is that the snivelling dumbocruds will regain power. Bustamove-amente is just another fat guy with special interest groups to pay off. The Reps HAVE to win in Cali if we want that economy to revive. -
Competition begets quality. The BBC has a low share, steals money from taxpayers to pay itself, then engages in a year long battle against Blair. Its news items, like the CBC, are anti-American drivel for the most part. The BBC is a left liberal, totally biased and ill informed subsidised media firm. If you believe it is so necessary then use tax payer funding and give some to its competition [same $ per market share] as well. This is sordid but fair. I would not recommend it, but the left liberal bleeding hearts must admit it would be fair. Better yet - just get rid of it. The days of state owned media are long gone. With the plethora of technology available no one can make a reasonable case that such enterprises are needed - unless of course you live in Iran, China or Canada ?

True, good advice. I might just write in Mickey Mouse on the Ballot. Since we live in Disneyland where we are the best, the greatest the most wonderful er ah except for the energy system, the fact that you can't get an operation or a doctor, high taxes, er high debts, broken immigration....I figure that Mickey would be a good representative.

That would be a blessing. Eves and his merry band of home makers, crying for the old and poor, need to be tossed. I will vote for Howdy Doody McGuinty to send the Tories a clear message, and i dare say, lots of others will do the same. The Energy mess in a normal gov't would require the beheading of the Energy Minister. I have not seen Baird since this mess started. I have not heard a single coherent plan or comment from the Tories on how to FIX the system. No details on how to prevent this from occuring or what they propose to do, to rebuild 1950s technology. What a farce. What will happen is probably 2 commission inquiries, the conclusion that all is okay, and that we overreacted. Plus they will ask us to xcc ski to work during the winter and not to wash our clothes.

Arnie made a big mistake naming Stock Picker Buffet to his economic team. Buffet is a democrat and is against all tax cuts and spending cuts. In fact Buffet's brain wave is to raise Cali's taxes - precisely the opposite of what needs to be done. The $38 billion budget deficit is merely a symptom of the fact that the state's liberal political culture is driving entrepreneurs and job-creating businesses out of the state. A new Census report says that were it not for Latino immigration, California's population would be falling. Between 1995 and 2000, more than 600,000 of its residents moved out of what was once America's promised land. The Chamber of Commerce in Sacramento compiles a list of the new job-killing burdens on business and ultimately on worker/taxpayers: an eight-hour workday overtime rule unique to California that is far less flexible than federal law and opens employers to lawsuits; paid family leave of up to six weeks, the first such law in the country; and limits on greenhouse gas emissions, also the first in the country, that will raise prices on cars. High workers' compensation premiums are also a huge disincentive for start-ups and business expansion. A recent study of 12 large states found the average cost of a worker's claim in California to be 33% above the median. The report by the Workers' Compensation Research Institute also noted that the "Average per-claim expenses for medical cost containment services, defense attorneys, and medical-legal expenses are higher [in California] than in most study states." And don't forget the state's steeply progressive tax code, a major cause of its current fiscal woes. The state is overly dependent on rich folk for tax revenues. In 2000, Californians paid $40 billion in income taxes, and 54% of that came from taxpayers who earned $300,000 or more. Almost 38% was paid by millionaires, who file less than one-third of 1% of tax returns. It's no surprise that when the stock bubble burst so did California's tax coffers. Picking Stocks is one thing, solving a large economy another. Arnie do yourself and Cali a favor - send Buffett back to Omaha.

Politicians should be fired, better I would like to see some public hangings regarding this fiasco. Utility companies are gov't regulated and controlled and have failed to deliver the basic foundation and fount of modern society - energy. Ontario was warned for years about its archaic systems. Source generators and transmission lines were inadequate and this was public knowledge. Energy experts drew up plans to correct this and were ignored. Ont. Hydro is bankrupt and nothing was done to correct that. Price caps were instituted and guess what - usage levels soared. Hmm. Surprise suprise. 'Free' Energy gets consumed and Eves appears 'shocked and surprised' that the energy grid failed. Time to Go Ernie. Go knit some socks you incompetent ninny. Take the other statists with you. Yeah gov't knows best ? Best on how to steal private property and waste it.

I love the left liberal tree hugging set. First they say that Afghanistan is unwinnable, winters too harsh, the Afghans are the world's most fearsome fighters, and that millions of babies will die in the conflict. 3 weeks later the US owns the country. Hmmmm. Then the left liberals had a good chuckle about the 'axis of evil' speech. They broke into laughter that North Korea was included. They pointed out to Bush that NK and Iraq are different countries and therefore could not be on an 'axis'. Brilliant point ladies. When Iraq was invaded suddenly the Left Liberal crowd were crowing about NK. NK was the imminent threat they whined - why not invade NK first ?? Iraq was just a minor nuisance, run by a madman who murdered his own people. But hey that is okay as long as the UN approves the genocide. Hmm I thought that NK was a joke and not to be taken seriously and now suddenly the Left Liberals are screeching that NK IS the priority. This is of course after Billy [love my pants around my knees] Clinton made a deal with NK in 1994 to deliver $4 billion in aid plus 500.000 barrels of oil per year, if the mad man dictator that brutalises his country would just 'give us his word' he would dismantle his Nuke program. When Bush revealed that NK had not kept their word the Liberals were shocked. "What do you mean a megalomaniac lied ?" they screamed. Quelle horreur. Even the French, known the world over to be bold faced liars, were surprised apparently at this revelation. The only nice thing about Liberals is they are always wrong. If you want to know what SHOULD be done read the NY Times OP Ed pages, watch the CBC or the BBC and the do the opposite.

Can Bush Be Beaten
Craig Read replied to Alliance Fanatic's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Ned, would not worry too much. The only thing that can derail Bush is a disaster in Iraq - which will not happen, things are going quite well there overall - and a sharp economic contraction - the Dumbo's need both. The economy is searingly hot in the States right now - all indicators are up, profits, liquidity, investments, and the tax cuts are doing their job. The Dumbocruds - all the candidates - want to raise taxes and spend and REPEAL Bush's tax cuts. Good plan ladies - as if middle class Americans don't own stock or make investments. Duh. On foreign policy only Lieberman has credibility. The others are a menace and studiously avoid reality. No Bush cannot be beaten. And as you said Ned, George has the cash. I look forward to 2 more Rep. victories, 2004/2008. I just hope Hilarious 'Gollum' Clinton is part of the destruction. Let's leave the White House in the hands of adults and men with some backbone shall we. -
Good post. Further on that score, why then do judges, politicians and advocacy groups demand equal marriage rights for Gays. I believe that from Ancient Greece onwards homosexuality was a societal disorder and either a psychological derangement or a forced social activity [men's clubs in Ancient Greece qualify here]. I find it disreputable and socially enervating to grant homosexuality the same attractiveness that heterosexual families enjoy. It is a deeply perverted concept.

No you are right. Africa is another socialist experiment in which exogenous read neo marxian dogma and dependency analysis nicely covers up the real issues and problems. The main problem is the international community sends aid, workers, contracts, the World bank, the IMF and various UN tax funded agencies to Africa, perpetuating the idiocy. Reform comes from inside not outside. If they want help they need to show genuine reforms first - political and legal. Until this happens you turn off the money spigot. Until the flow of soft headed northerners and their soft headed money is turned off Africa will never reform itself. The same is true of the middle east though the situation there is quite different on a number of levels. Having a soft heart should not force one to have a soft head.
-
China is a good example. Selective economic liberalisation and reform and they have seen the greatest reduction in poverty in the past 50 years, in world history. India - which relied on socialism, corruption, barriers and red tape - is far behind China now. The question of how to implement reform is case sensitive it depends on the country in question. However no doubt even the Chinese will find it hard to contain the 'liberalising' effects once a middle class is created. The bourgeoisie always demand political reform. As for the World Bank, an external audit found 2/3 of projects do not meet their own lax internal standards of success. Just another fat cat UN group living off the northern tax payer, running around the world with their 'do-good' haughty demeanor.
-
Of course the state will pick one for you. Come on in Post Modern Canada all is equal. The Uglies, the nice ones, the hot ones - matters not. Just couple and do your duty for the state. Oh yes and don't forget to pay your 'humanity' sur-tax, the tax dollars that go to fund state programs which ensure complete and utter equality and relativity amongst all people -- unless your a heterosexual WASP.
-
Well to be honest I think domestic endogenous reform is a pipe dream. Africans will not reform themselves. There is no evidence that they have the knowledge, the will, or the skills to do so. Without Liberalism all societies basically fall into corruption. The institutional separation of powers; checks and balances and legal framework ensure that naitons can achieve wealth and some form of prosperity. The major question is not what works but how to get there. I say political reform, legal reform some selected economic reform to get the GNP per capita about $3000 [which will create a middle class] and then more economic reforms and liberalisation. These poorer nations need either to import the help and work with the West on economic or political reform, or if their countries are strategic enough, they will be FORCED into such reforms. And i don't mean from the IMF or World Bank both of which should be abolished. This is what will happen in the Middle East. I see no evidence that the Middle East will reform by itself. It will be coerced from without. Such is how history is shaped. This of course would offend the post modern Canadian patsy elite which lives in a dream world that if we believe they can they will. Wrong.

How Bad Is The Nation Of Canada
Craig Read replied to Alliance Fanatic's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ontario and East are the Post Modern Elite - they ape the Upper West Side and Hollywood ninnies in the US who want to turn the world's most open society into a playpen for Castro types. Socialism fails period. I don't see what is so hard to grasp about this fact. It is financially an insolvent set of concepts. Morally, it relativises all philosophies and concepts; divorces the past from the present; and undermines the values that create a prosperous and intelligent society. Post Modern socialism appeals to the subjective lowest common denominator - a form of hedonistic utilitarianism. It basically states 'nothing matters'. Given such an ideal is it any wonder that no one cares about a non existent military; anti-american racism; increasing government power; higher tax and debt burdens; regionalisation created by regional subsidy programs; multi-culturalism; and a failed immigration system not to mention the idiocy of Gay Marriage and Marijuana legalisation. Socialism fails. What then does that say about Canada's future ? -
Syria currently holds the rotating chair of the U.N.'s Security Council. It's perhaps an indicator of how far an organization that was supposed to be the guarantor of world freedom has fallen that a key unit is chaired by one of the world's leading sponsors of terrorism. Some Western diplomats, particularly in Britain, still hold out the hope that Bashar Assad will prove more cooperative than his ruthless, terrorist-sponsoring father. So far, there's been little to justify that optimism. Time for UNO reform - or it fades into irrelevance. Can someone tell me why Canada supports this group again ?

How Bad Is The Nation Of Canada
Craig Read replied to Alliance Fanatic's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well AF, i would definitely agree that Canada needs a lot of work - it is ironic that 3 World Wars were fought against Statism and Fascism, yet the Left Liberals in North America still are mesmerized by coercive socialism. Gov'ts will survive if they can provide the goods and convince people of their usefulness. In this regard Canada has some problems. The Federal Parliamentary system does not provide checks and balances and nor is there audit control. The Constitution is constantly being toyed with - as well as the Charter of Rights - to allow Federal intrusion into local matters. Fiscally the country is a mess with $172 K per capita debt. This is incredible. Canada suffers from the 2nd worst per capita debt in the Western world. We also have a productivity rate that is 1/2 of US levels which ensures a lower standard of living. Politicians and the media here buy votes you said, not earn them. They have effectively neutered the CA through slander and media bias. The Provinces and major cities must now fight to restore the fiscal and power balances in their favour. If they do this and if a party over time at the Fed level would actually limit and then roll back socialism - Canada would be a far more prosperous place. I read a report that Sweden would have net incomes 3 x higher and a much higher standard of living without its nonsensical socialist regime. I believe that Toronto, Calgary-Edmonton might have to threaten to separate to get treated properly. -
Gay Marriage - At Last Some Sense
Craig Read replied to Craig Read's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Excellent thread. Lots of good info. I still am awaiting 'proof' that sodomy and homosexuality is natural. This thread i believe disproves any notion that is a genetic disorder. Gay people are confused and unstable. -
Ned, I would agree that Kissinger style diplomacy and Foreign Affairs doctrine works best. Having said that it is definitely in your interests to do a number of things: 1. Intervene in Africa where national interests are at stake, and I believe Liberia is one area that fits. [another thread deals with this]. 2. Force through political and trade pressuers [such as rescinding such agreements], increased military spending in Canada and the EUnuch states. They have been free riders for too long. Time to shut them up. 3. Use the UN to help with Civil duties only and humanitarian/child relief. The UN has some utility here, though in general it is abymsally useless. 4. Keep reforming your military along 'Rumsfeldian' lines. You have got a geat one in Rumseld. Follow his lead. 5. Keep Britain OUT OF EUROPE. You must convince the Brits that the Euro and further EU integration into the socialist superstate is NOT intelligent. Once the Brits fall for the Euro scam, their foreign policy is cut off. France loves this. 6. Lastly never tire to shut up the Dumbocruds and liberal nauseators at home. They are perhaps your most obnoxious threat. In general I think your points and Sir Riff's are very appropriate.

Yes but if you don't Black don't read or watch him. He does not go hat in hand to the gov't crying for cash like the BBC. He also does not use tax payer money to attack the sitting government. I find it reprehensible that the BBC has spent the past 8 months attacking Blair non-stop. This is not its mandate nor is it healthy to waste tax dollars on vendetta's. Privatise it - its share, rating and quality is bad. Time to introduce reforms namely; productivity, good quality product, and the ability to survive or fail on its own merits.
