Paul Jackson Get It Right Again
Craig Read replied to dnsfurlan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Good man and good post. Democrats opposed entering both World Wars. Democrats and their peacenik allies tried to convince you that the Russians either a. could not be beaten since they were too tough, or b. loved their children and wanted nothing more than a group hug from the West. Reagan won the Cold War with Thatcher's support. JFK and LBJ commit US forces to Vietnam with no goals, no plan, and no intention to fight to win. They send over a conscript army, poorly trained, led and motivated. Good one. The Liberal press now uses Vietnam to damn any war. Thatcher invades the Falklands and the Left liberal press and politicians howled that the UNO did not sanction it and that Galitieri and his fascists punks were too tough to beat. In 3 weeks the war is over, and Galitieri is sent to prison. Liberal pundits predicted that Gulf War I would be a war that could not be won against the world's 4th largest army, in hostile terrain against Arab fanatics. 41 days it is over, and could have been over much sooner if the moderate ninnies running the war did not believe they needed to pulverise every rock before sending forth the troops. Of course the ninnies did not take Baghdad which was the whole point after all. Why ? The Liberal press moaned about the 'road of death' out of Kuwait. The poor Iraqi's were being slaughtered. The fact that it was not true had no bearing on reality. Result; 12 yrs of failed sanctions and then Gulf War II. Good one. Clinton and the Dumbocruds ran out of Somalia, did not bother about Bin Laden except to bomb an aspirin factory while the Lewinsky process was at its height, and opposed military action after conducting opinion polls that is was too dangerous. Gulf War II and the invasion of Afghanistan were both too dangerous, would cost too many lives, could not be won, would be bogged down in 'brutal winters', would destroy the country, and of course murder millions of babies. This was the liberal reaction to 9-11. Now the liberals blame the West for extremist Islam. Calls resonate to understand the 'root causes' of 'why they hate us'. More hugs, kisses and chocolates are apparently necessary, not to mention the customary boot licking of idiotic thugs like Arafat to make the world a Garden of Eden. The Liberals are patsies. Weak ninnies with their blind UNO ideology and power broking, pork barreling politics, covered up by nationalist sentiments 'dat da Canadian value', 'i hate American bastards, but will thankfully live off their military, drug manufacturers, and economy', and 'we are great' because we are number one in hockey, a sport played by 3 countries. Phooey. These clowns are never right. But they own the media, they churn out churlish professors from Harvard with their snotty opinions and 'nuanced, clever analysis', and they fund social program spending to ensure voter compliance, abetted by a ceaseless array of propaganda. Go against this orthodoxy and you are slandered, belittled, and condemned. Orwell saw this coming a long time ago. -
Liberal States Losing People, $
Craig Read replied to Craig Read's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Get serious. California under the Dumbocruds have hiked taxes, regulations, premiums and assorted anti-job programs, whilst paying swivel snivel servants and politicos more money. Hey sounds like Canada !!! In the past year 300.000!! have left California. Many businesses can't leave due to location, product or contract commitments. If they could leave, they would head for the Nevada hills. Ditto for NY. Tax and spend moderate Republican Bloomberg is a democrat [he was a long time supporter of the Dumbocruds and switched to the Reps to follow Giuliani and get the Mayorship], and is doing what worked so well for Cali - more taxes, more debt , less reform. Buying votes under any banner is socialised liberalism and people vote with their feet. 40.000 Cdns leave South bound each year. No more than a handful is flowing the other way. [usually to access socialised health care btw.] Lie-beralism is a failure. Much like Isn't-lam. -
Well we need immediately a doubling of the budget, and a rethink of how, where, why and what to spend it on. But this is all moot. Canada will soon follow New Zealand which officially scrapped its Air Farce in 2002. Eventually Canada will have zero military capability. Handing out zoning tickets in Kabul has stretched it to the breaking point, while the Cdn media oooh and ahhhs over 'this most dangerous mission.' As if invading Iraq was too easy for the Cdn military. No scrap the military. Stop playing games just make it official. We will send over crossing guards to Baghdad to make sure people don't jay walk. And of course there will be more money for the CBC and its assinine 'comedy' supporters like Rick Mercer who can go to NY to find out that Americans don't really give a damn about a whiney little country on their northern borders. Gee I wonder if Jay Leno will come to Toronto and interview ordinary citizens as to who is the Gov of California. Bet you 100 CDN pesos that 50 % or more would not know the answer. Too busy watching Survivor and American TV i guess.

Lumber. Potatoes. Wheat. Beef. Any and all products that are under the purview of Canada's socialist/Stalinist command structure ie. 'Marketing Boards', 'Price Boards' or 'the People's Board's' are being punished. A NAFTA panel just ruled recently that Lumber is unfairly subsidised in Canada. Now the US has imposed tariffs on wheat. If Canada had a more sensible foreign policy, less anti-Americanism, less hatred of being poorer than Americans, less EU whininess in its political elite and more balls in having a military and less reliance on the UNO, then these disputes could be solved in the old fashion way - men talking to men. Since we don't have men anymore in Canada - being post modern and all - the US has to slap us around for breaking trade rules. This is what happens when ur drivel and snivel about post modern nonsense. ============ Tariffs imposed by the United States on Canadian wheat will be raised, following a decision by the U.S. Commerce Department on Friday. The tariffs, which were imposed in the spring, had been between 10 and 12 per cent. With Friday's ruling, they will be raised to 14 per cent. "We are disappointed with the U.S. Department of Commerce findings,"International Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew said. "Canadian wheat exports to the United States are fairly traded. They are not subsidized," he said. That a boy Pettigrew. Wheat boards are just there to do what exactly then ?

Affirmative Discrimination and Racism

Pell with all respect i doubt your an Einstein - your political views would point more towards Sheryl Crow than either Einstein or Newton. Sorry old chap. Ned is right on - the heart of the issue is two fold - 1. Educational reform - mainly through more competition and yes higher tuition rates. You can't subsidise education if you want high quality. There are just too many sad, unneeded, unworthy programs, colleges and professors out there, leading to education deflation. 2. Economic reform - not quota's is necessary. Capital formation is vital to allow all people to develop opportunities in any field. Tax cuts, spending cuts and reducing asset taxes and capital taxes are vital. BET is a classic minority success story. The founder does not whine or drone on about AA - if fact he is black and against AA as was King and Douglass. Equality before the law is the necessary precondition to climb the social ladder. Blacks, gays and other groups already have this. So stop whining and get busy and get rid of AA. -
RB, you are right. The immigration system is a failure an utter contemptible mess. The quota is 310.000 per year - we don't need this many people and it burdens the health system. 60 % are not screened and over 50 % enter on 'family programs' - another Lie-beral invention [at least its increased quota is], to buy votes. So we can assume that since 40 % of the immigrants don't speak our 2 national languages and since over 50 % are on the family program that 150.000 people per year more or less are accessing our programs without having paid a dime. I hired a Colombian woman who immediately had her husband, 2 kids and herself access health care. This was before she had paid a dime in tax. Now in her case she is paying taxes albeit not that much. But the burden on the system is palpable. If I did not hire her, she would be EI and welfare and still accessing the system. She is in high tech - in sales - good education good background, but in Toronto there are few jobs for her given her lack of fluency in English and knowlege of the local market. She was unemployed 9 months before i hired her. Technically family program members are to be sponsored for 3 years by someone, but the gov't rarely checks the sponsor's ability to pay so many of these people within 3 years are accessing the system. There are lots of examples of Tamil taxi drivers earning $30 k per year sponsoring 10 people in Toronto. Lie-berals will prattle about 'diversity', that Toronto is 'the world's greatest city' [if you think SARS and dirty streets are great], that we are the post modern multi-cultural nation par excellence. More likely Canada is a convenient, easy to access and improbably naive little nation state in which immigrants, refugees, terrorist cells, criminals and people who have no intention to be Canadian, use for their own purposes. Immigration reform and Health care reform plus a host of economic reforms are needed here. Will it happen ? Hell no. More CBC documentaries will be shown on Canada's greatness outlining the need for more of the same.

Iraq And Al Qaeda - No Links You Say?
Craig Read replied to Craig Read's topic in The Rest of the World
Good try fleabag. I would suppose that is your real name. UNO and its post modern allies have no military capability at all. Canadian attitudes would be a little different if BCE Place had been taken out instead of the Twin Towers. Then people here would be screaming for revenge - at least those still able to think. The media and politicians would of course be apologising for stone age Islam's idiocy and failure to address the modern world. Chretien would go on TV and tell the world that Canada deserved to have 3.000 people murdered since we are undeserving western bastards that believe in progress and enlightenment. Another link flea bag was just found between Iraq and Al Qaeda. Since i assume your source of information is either your grandmother or the CBC i will provide the information below. ============ Iraqi police arrested four men in connection with the bombing of Iraq's holiest Shiite Muslim shrine, and all have links to al Qaeda, a senior police official told the Associated Press on Saturday. The official, who said the death toll in the bombing had risen to 107, said the four arrested men -- two Iraqis and two Saudis -- were caught shortly after the car bombing on Friday. The bombing killed one of the most important Shiite clerics in Iraq, Ayatollah Mohammed Baqir al-Hakim, who had been cooperating with the U.S. occupation force. ======= Still believe that the US is stupid, the war unnecessary or that Hitler was a good guy - just a misunderstood 'nationalist reformer' I suppose. -
Hugo, your post and in particular your list of studies to support the fact that homosexuality is socio-psychological is grand. You are correct, no one has presented evidence to the contrary. Just the usual sappy soupy mixture of emotionalism and lie-beralism.

Iraq And Al Qaeda - No Links You Say?
Craig Read replied to Craig Read's topic in The Rest of the World
The UN and their lie-beral allies are too timid, too feminine and too mired in their post modern blind stupidity to deal with reality. King Kofi likes to reach out and touch [arousing himself one supposes] the common man [and maybe woman, though in the post modern world, arousing oneself with a woman is not viewed with kindness, better to be homosexual]. The UN is viewed by 3rd world nations as a Western tool. For King Kofi and the other Lie-berals to suppose that they are loved because they talk nonsense only underscores their divorce from what is really transpiring in the geo-political world today. They are open, easy targets and rejecting US protection is arrogance at its worst. And some prattle about 'law'. International law as a body of work does not exist. It only exists if one is reading the NY Times or listening to the moralising of the CBC. Int'l law consists of treaties, resolutions and agreements that often time overlap or confuse. There is no book which says 'here I am read me, I am the Law!'. The UN is not a world government. Its resolutions if broken might constitute a 'law' but they can be bypassed with good reason if they are ambiguous, unenforceable or nonsensical. In any event the US is the ONLY nation to use the UN to sanction a war. France, Russia, China and Britain [during the Falklands war], all have eschewed the UN. Still hate the US ? Of course you do, National Socialism = must hate someone for being well ...someone. -
I disagree. Israeli actions to protect their nation state, whilst at time extreme are necessary. Israeli's admit that a Pal. state is inevitable. The PLO has shown no maturity to handle such a mandate. War is inevitable unless the PLO/A reform and move towards a representative system of governance and importantly admit that Israel shall, will and has a RIGHT to exist. Until this time, conflict is unavoidable and will neverending.

RB, i have nothing against immigrants that is for sure, and welcome ones that work hard and want to be Canadian ie. not a hyphenated African-Italian-Somalian-French-Tamil-Hindu-Sino Canadian but a Canadian. Period. I don't mind paying for the public costs to make sure people have adequate care. What I do mind are two things: 1. People abusing the system. and 2. Politicians and bureacrats mismanaging the system. Health Care without reform is doomed. It is simple demographics and economics. Gov't is not much good at anything. Except building swivel servant empires that greedily feed off of the body politic. The great battle in Canada is over its soul. What type of nation should be created in which all have a voice. Today it is the lie-beral socialists that are winning this war.

Cali and NY - poster states for the post modern man ! Look, behold, men wearing red pumps, kissing in public, and waxing themselves ! Nary an opinion to be found ! Social spending on all issues so that equality and relativity are assured ! As long as it does not contravene the sacred principle that Western civilisation is evil, destructive and American values inimical to true morality ! Behold the people voting with their feet as they flee Liberal bastions of hypocritical, slanderous, anti-Westernism ! ========== According to a report out this month from the U.S. Census Bureau, an astounding 2,204,500 Californians threw in the towel from 1995 to 2000 and highballed it out of the "Golden State." The state's net migration figure for the period is -755,536, and would be worse if Latin American immigrants didn't still drop in for a look. This is the first time the net migration number for California has ever gone negative. We in New York should be so lucky to have a chance to recall our profligate pols. The Census figures make those of us staying in the "Empire State" look like the nation's biggest saps: Some 1,600,725 shrewd subjects of Albany's empire saw in the late 1990s that the pols were blowing the revenue surge out the window and escaped ahead of the recent tax hikes passed to close the inevitable deficit. Because so many former New Yorkers understood the meaning of present-discounted non-value, the state took first place in net migration loss: -874,248. The bureau says New Yorkers fled to every state in the Union except Nebraska and the District of Columbia. Don't expect this datum to show up in the welcoming speeches by George Pataki and Mike Bloomberg when the GOP holds its weirdly inappropriate convention in Manhattan next year. ------ [WSJ Aug 29]

Toleration does not mean: -Destroying the family unit -Teaching that perversion is okay -Stating that genetics cause homosexuality when there is zero proof of that -Eroding the division of powers between state and church -Using the Charter to buy minority votes Gay marriage is inimcal to all values that flow from the orthodox Western Tradition. It denies facts, it elevates pyschologically disturbed behaviour, it enshrines relativity, and exalts in immorality. It hides behind the Charter to strike another blow against society and the structures that allow prosperity to take root. Put it to a referendum. It would be crushed in such a process once people started debating its base iniquity.

Technology on both supply and demand sides, needs to be employed. There is no excuse not to deploy technology that takes a system off the grid in case of a general failure somewhere else. Local, regional generators and other techniques exist to do this. The current Stalinist system in Ontario prevents and denies needed investment at any level. It is doomed without reform. Ontario's stalinist response is akin to someone cutting off their arm due to a shoulder pain. There are more intelligent ways to manage the energy grid than 'all or nothing' surgery. Reminds me of the doctors during the US Civil War - cut off all limbs no matter what the disease. Very intelligent.

The Politico's lie about the sytem's costs [25 % understated], have no plans to curtail rising expenditiure [10 % per year in Ontario], have no plans to upgrade technology [not a part of the increased spend], have no ideas about retaining personnel [who flee to the States, where they get their asses sued by Democratic trial lawyers], and moan about access for the poor and old [to buy votes and cry on TV]. Farcical. Since when is it good governance to allow one budget item to eat up 50 % of the total government spend ? Since when it is good governance to allow billions to be wasted each year in bad management and overlapping organisational entities ? All to buy votes and cry and weep that we care. Care about buying votes you mean. And the sick fact is that the majority of Canadians have bought into the myth that socialised health care is noble. Even the Brits are reforming their NHS - a loathsome inefficient and unsightly spectacle. Inter-generational transfers are in general, immoral.
-
Terrorism - muslim terrorism that is - is the main priority. That is the prime and key focus. That war HAS to be won. NK will be silenced over time. The Chinese, Russians, Japanese and SKoreans all have vested interests at stake. They will support US action against NK when the time is right. The timing is simply not appropriate with the US military stretched across 130 countries. Canada and other whining ninnies can help out by actually building militaries with projection capability. But hell that would actually mean doing something. Far easier just to yap and bark like a little dog.

Affirmative Discrimination and Racism
Craig Read replied to Craig Read's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
RB, you talk nonsense. Drivel. From a recent US study: A decade ago, black students taking the SATs typically scored 153 points below the national average and 187 points below the white average. Today the gap has expanded to 163 points and 206 points, respectively. But instead of working to close this gap in the places where it starts -- primarily, our lousy inner-city public school systems -- the education establishment tries to sidestep the whole thing by lowering the bar at the college level. Which is why affirmative action admissions programs periodically wind up in the Supreme Court. People like yourself never want to solve problems. You just want to sugar coat everything and present it with a nice bow. Too much work to actually solve problems now isn't it ? This goes for health care, Terrorism, Immigration and all the other policy issues that need courage, ideas, and commitment. The Lie-beral leftist rabble would rather just hug the problem and hope it goes away. Clinton tried that with Terrorism and er...it kind of failed didn't it? -
Black dog as usual is bleating his lie-beral tripe. Islam is not some nuanced, difficult to comprehend and superior form of social organisation or some mystical force that is relatively equal. It is an utter abysmal failure. B. Lewis and other scholars including Feldman's new book 'After Jihad', make the crucial point that modern Islam has fused National socialist ideology with religious narrow mindedness. This is why in part, it has failed in the current era. Looking back beyond the Fascist influence to the early modern period, the despotic, anti-modern, anti-democratic urge in the religion is everywhere apparent. A lack of curiousity, a lack of interest in worldly affairs, an arrogance that they are the chosen ones, a sad indifference to political representation, a mindset that brutalises women and the weak, and a racism that is used to quell societal discord and direct anger towards the heathen. All of these limitations and immoral attributes of Islam were well in the ascendant even during the times of the Crusades. Islam has shown no interest in living in today's world. None. And this is why it must be reformed or confronted and defeated. Its demise as a viable social option is clear. The only question is - does it want to reform itself ? Iraq is clearly a critical test of this question.
-
That is pretty good. Scenario building. As i told some friends the Chicago fire department could conquer Canada. Black Dog is spouting as usual Lie-beral nonsense on military ranking. Military spend must be calculated as a % of GDP - in that case within NATO Canada is 2nd last. IN terms of U$ billion spent, Canada spends more than Greece, but less in terms of % of GDP [Greece spends about 3 % vs. Canada's 2 %]. Here are the real #'s:[economist world in figures 2003] GDP per head rank; Canada 20th at $22,370 US is at $34,940. GDP per PPP; Canada 7th US is #2. Selected Countries Military Budget [cdi.org March 2003] ($Billions) United States 399.1 Russia* 65.0 China* 47.0 Japan 42.6 United Kingdom 38.4 France 29.5 Germany 24.9 Saudi Arabia 21.3 Italy 19.4 India 15.6 South Korea 14.1 Brazil* 10.7 Taiwan* 10.7 Israel 10.6 Spain 8.4 Australia 7.6 Canada 7.6 Netherlands 6.6 Turkey 5.8 Mexico 5.9 Kuwait* 3.9 Ukraine 5.0 Iran* 4.8 Singapore 4.8 Sweden 4.5 Egypt* 4.4 Norway 3.8 Greece 3.5 Poland 3.5 Argentina* 3.3 Canada with 2x the population of Australia spends the same. Canada with 2x the population of the Netherlands spends a little more. Canada with 6 x the population of Singapore spends just 60 % more. Military power is waning in Canada. In the post modern rush to buy votes and hug trees and cry, Canada has been deserted by its politicians and bleeding heart Lie-beral citizens.
-
Ned this is true, and the issue has to be resolved. It is a matter of: PLA leadership which will not happen unless the US aids the ejection of Arafat and the peaceful transfer to Abbas and legitimate leaders; the curtailment of funding especially from the UN and EU of military aka refugee camps that house Palestinian hatred; and lastly the creation of institutions and a division of powers in Palestine so that a functioning state has some chance. The US must get involved in Palestine - I agree the issue is abused by the EU and their PLA friends, but the issue has such geo-political repercussions that engagement, however hopeless it appears, is necessary. What the EU and Canada need to do is to help change occur not fund terrorists.
-
Firmly behind the push to blacklist Hamas, which would make it more difficult for the organization to raise funds in Europe, are the U.K., Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. All the way at the other end -- still making a specious argument about how stigmatizing Hamas's "political wing" would be counterproductive -- is the Jacques Chirac/Dominique de Villepin duo. (The French president and foreign minister craft foreign policy all on their own, and should be seen in this field as almost apart from the mostly able government of Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin). The peace plan was badly damaged by Hamas's suicide bombing of a Jerusalem bus last Tuesday, which left 21 civilians dead, and Arafat's opportunistic bid this week to unseat Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas, or at least render him powerless. The divided PA has not gone after the terrorist groups, as the road map calls for, leaving Israel to do the dirty work. Palestinians or at least their leadership do not desire peace. Peace through military ie. Israeli victory is the ONLY solution for the region. The EU which funds Arafat $300 million per year should by and large just shut up.
-
I would agree guys. I am sick of Lie-berals and their rhetorically Harvard trained seals who pronounce that 'relativity' is the modern way. Islam is the enemy. Period. Extremists inside Islam must be killed. Period. There is no grey, no 'root cause' analysis, no 'neo-marxian dependency' analysis needed, no sympathy for those who are poor due to domestic causes or religious intolerance. You give them a choice - lay down your weapons and join the modern age, or be wiped out. Period. No truck, no barter, no trade, no compassion until the fight is won.
-
Well i do not subscribe to the idea that Islam is great cultural entity full of richness and diversity. Islam is a monolithic narrow concept that forces people in 2003 AD to live as if it was 2003 BC. Islam needs to join the real world and get busy with modernisation. Harkening back to the Crusades as the 'root cause' of Islamic hatred of the West is nonsense. I don't think the 19 upper middle class hijackers were invoking Saladan as they crashed their planes on 9-11-01. Any idiot can invoke historical circumstance to cover up evil, maliciousness and racism. Islam is an anti-Western, anti-modern and anti-thinking philosophy. This is why it has failed. And why it will be crushed.

Well most docs and nurses suffer from over work and burn out plus low salaries. The average for a doc after expenses is U$55 K !!! This is less than the line worker at GM !!! Of course union workers are superior - they are the bedrock of society - poor dears have to work 35 hours a week and only get 8 weeks paid holiday, plus fat pensions and a big severance when they get fired for drinking on the job !! Tears flow when i consider their plight. In Canada government accounts for 70 % of health care spend. In the US it is 45 %. Pierre Lemieux of the Economics and Liberty Research Group in Quebec wrote a good article and stated the following: "Even in the Brave New World of the public health advocates, Americans still get more [and better] health care after paying their administrative costs. The consumers get more of what they want, which is the ultimate criterion for any economic system." He is right. Health services =10 % or more of our GNP. There are huge costs in bad technology, waiting lists, and burned out doctors who make little money. Admin costs in Canada to raise the $75 billion for Health speand are over $1 billion. Deadweight loss or economic destruction from state management is estimated by Lemieux to be $20 billion. So in effect Canada spends 25 % or so more than the official numbers indicate PLUS bad technology, under supply of personnel and long waiting lines. This means that Canadians spend about the same % of GDP on Health Care with less access and poorer technology than Americans. Welcome to Socialised medicine - the Stalinists that run Canada are very good at hiding real costs. But you can put up with high taxes and high debt for the MotherLand now can't you ?
-
KK, i agree. Post modern liberalism has NO set of values or coherent philosophy. It is ad hoc, opportunistic and sadly immoral. War is a natural state of affairs. Unless the hairless monkeys [humans], undergo signficant DNA remodeling conflict is assured. The issue I have with Canadians is the lack of thinking that goes on in the country for the great majority. They buy into the Lie-beral nonsense and compassionate socialism and even take pride in it. This is obnoxious. We need to fight these demagogues and not give up. To do so is to consign Canada to the has-been dust bin of history.
