How can we ignore THIS as a model of multiculturlism and tolerance? Some excerpts (from brussels): and I love this one: hmmmm... Is there even a debate where ultra tolerance leads?
-
Well, as an objective observer why don't you provide your estimate on who has perpetrated more hatred and violence against the other in the past 10 years?
-
Indeed. But since it's essentially Muslims vs. Buddhists in Thailand, Muslims vs. Hindus in Kashmir, Muslims vs. Jews in the Holy Land, Muslims vs. Russians in Chechnya, Muslims vs. Christians in Africa and Muslims vs. Jew/Hindus in India, and of course Muslims vs. america in New York, how else might you phrase it?

I am certainly intolerant of intolerance. Got that?

Curious to see the results.

In doing a search I can find examples worldwide. Canada - not in the first two pages of google. But while there ARE examples out there, let'stalk about the positives. During my search I also found examples of a few muslims saying "christmas is ok and christmas trees are ok". That is freaking great. Now it's still a shame that a site like that even has to exist: ie. can you imagine a site like "black people are actually ok"?? ridiculous. But the fact that muslims within their own faith are starting to speak up and accept other religions is brilliant. As with the old AIDS saying used to go: "silence = acceptance". It's nice to see some muslims speaking out in acceptance. But a long way to go. We need to get to the point where people in that faith needn't post website claiming that it's "ok to have a christmas tree". The tolerance finally looks like it's slightly beginning to be expressed so that it can crush the silence,

Can you please provide these examples? We can both discuss.

Well said.

That's awesome. I have noticed this about Quebec - they are much more strong about their culture and want to protect it. There was another thing too a few months back - I think something about women and burqas or something. Anyway, good for Quebec. At least one province has the cultural confidence to stand up for itself. We could all learn something from them.

I had no idea there was such an epidemic of white carpet pukathons!! my lord!! (oops - used the "L" word. look out for angry offended people of other religions!)
-
This isn't a debate about what it is. It's a discussion about people telling other people how to talk.

Please. I'd like to see the cite of a christian self detonating. Second, in the past 7 years Mumbai terrorist attacks,9-11, Madrid Bombings, London Tube Bombings, Bali Nightclub Bombings, countless suicide bombings in Isreal, beheading of newsreporters and others, Chechnya school massacre, threats against Canada's primeminister, Shooting a nun because of a cartoon, and countless other attacks - all perpetrated against innocent civilians and all in the name of Islam. Now. Please provide specific examples over the same time period of similar christian attacks on non-christians in the name of their religion. Please and thank you. Do you know what's almost laughable? The left wing sing along press has basically ceased to even report this kind of violence for what it is: Islamic intolerance. Remember the recent gay bashing case in September in Vancouver? Guess what religion the guy is. Take a wild guess what religion that hates gay people he comes from. Of course the press and people like you refuse to see the connection - willfully refuse. How about Mumbai? The word Islam barely made it to the press reports, mostly not at all. But take a wild guess who perpetrated the attacks? Take a wild freaking guess.
-
I try to do the same. But people who somehow try to pressure others to eliminate the word "christmas" from the vernacular during the...well....CHRISTMAS... season need to be ignored. Interestingly, multiculturalism is a rather "uni" cultural phenom. It only exists in the west. You can't go to saudi arabia and be "multicultural". Try going to Iran and telling them they can't use the word "ramadan."
-
You're willing to take the most recent Mumbai terrorist attacks,9-11, Madrid Bombings, London Tube Bombings, Bali Nightclub Bombings, countless suicide bombings in Isreal, beheading of newsreporters and others, Chechnya school massacre, threats against Canada's primeminister, Shooting a nun because of a cartoon, and countless other attacks - all perpetrated against innocent civilians and all in the name of Islam. So let's get this straight: you're willing to take all of that and then some, in the past few years, and measure that against, what exactly? Against a couple of aborion clinic killings in the distant past? That's not only moving the goalposts, my friend. That's moving the entire sport to another planet.
-
I'd like to hear more about these recent christian misdeeds, just so we can all agree on where exactly the "goalposts" are.
-
It's a legitimate discussion. Now everyone who invites debate is a troll? Stiffen up, wuss.
-
Is everyone here on board with saying "merry christmas"? It seems some people, organizations and companies are switching to "happy holidays" This is ludicrous in my opinion. I have no problem with "happy ramadan" or "happy hanecah" (spelling?). The fact that some people are offended by the word "christmas" is just further evidence of the intolerance prevalent in other religions - isn't it?
-
I'm still waiting for black dog to explain what race has to do with this. Meantime, If you'd wish, MH, shall we explore exactly the number of "terrorist" incidents inflicted upon innocent civilians in the past 10 years were perpetrated by muslims, versus other religions? To refuse to acknowledge the obvious and persistent attacks upon innocents in the name of Islam this century is not only willful blindness, but an extreme example of "moving the goalposts" in the name of "cultural sensitivity" with no regard whatsoever to reality or facts. There has been one common thread in the past 10 years with respect to bombings in otherwise peaceful areas, whether it's London, Madrid, Bali, New York, Toronto or anywhere else: Islam. To ignore this plain and simple fact in an effort to paint those who observe this fact as "moving the goalposts" isn't "making an excellent point" - it's the usual mindless willingness to ignore reality in the name of boundless, boundless tolerance.
-
What does "white" have to do with it, black dog? You're bringing race. Let's hear what's really going on in that little head of yours.

BoC warns of possible mass home foreclosures

Yay! More left leaning government intervention! Now Naomi Klein's "Shock Doctrine - the rise of disaster capitalism" can officially be dubbed completely false. -
More bullshit from a lazy unemployed Ontarian heard in between sucklings on Alberta's teet. Meantime, back to reality. GDP per capita, by province: Alberta 69,789 Ontario 41,847 Quebec 37,138

You still don't get it. So I'll spell it out for you in grade 6 reading. In 2007 the feds increased taxes on oilsands development because they knew they could get away with it. At the time, noone complained due to high oil prices. Now, Albertans are waking up to the screwing and saying "wait a miniute - we want you to put our taxes back at the same level they are in Ontario".

Separation vs. Sovereignty
JerrySeinfeld replied to Phacochere's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
OLEG you are a unique dude, but in this case I must say your post is bang on. Personally, though, I wouldn't give her the option to return. -
Perhaps you should look at the polls. If an election were held today, the conservatives would march to a majority.

Alberta is simply askinh for oil companies to be treated the same way manufacturing companies are treated. Most companies in Canada get the accelerated CCA write down. It was specifically TAKEN AWAY from oil companies alone. Do you have the brain capacity to understand the dynamic here? Right now alberta is singled out as the one region NOT extended this treatment. Their getting the shaft. They just want to be treated the same as everyone else. But in your WARPED world, alberta asking for the same accounting rules as Ontario is "asking for a handout"? What colour is the sky in yourn world.
