Harper did cause they could not prove he gave the order. The guy who did the calls is now in jail. don't see how that was a misuse of taxpayer money. I think he was paid by the Conservative party but wouldn't bet the bank on that Who is in jail for the gas plants? Not excusing any. Both are crimes against democracy. I just do not believe JT is going to do any better. I have said it before I look for the government that will hurt the least because none of them has shown me that they do it well. Have not seen a good Premier in Ontario since I have been following politics and have yet to see a good Prime Minister. Bob Rea was terrible but his party was not ready and the recession did most of the damage he just helped burn down the building. Harris cut and cut and cut while the federal government of the day downloaded and downloaded. Than came McGuinty. ugh, the worst, ten years blaming the last guy as he raised taxes, raised hydro rates,raised the dept and built a nanny state. Wynne is following suit with being investigated for election tampering. But this all leads to me saying it don't matter cause they are all crooks. To give arguments for more government pet projects? My big problem with it is that you are forced by the government to give out information that you may consider none of their business but must answer for fear of prosecution.

I found the long census was an invasion of privacy and the fact I could be prosecuted for not answering was ridiculous. Sure I have to file my taxes so be it but everything else is really none of the governments concern.

Why are the people that are complaining (rightfully so) about the new terror bill being to invasive in our lives now complaining about not being forced to send private information to the government?

The teachers unions always cry about the students but immediately are calmed down when the teachers get more money in their pockets. Of course union are happy with smaller class sizes. Means more teachers and more union dues. Unions are as much of a business as law firms and advertising agencies.

Micheal is right. After several posts back and forth we figured out it really is not a huge difference in time for teachers. I will even go further and it does limit when vacation can be taken due to the school year.

Ok, I do respect an idealist. It is good to have dreamers. I too desire a better system. To have people starving in this day and age, for the sick to be turned away for lack of a good credit card, schools falling apart, roads crumbling,etc,etc,etc. But the bigger the government the bigger the failures. We can tax and tax but taxing the rich is not a very helpful tactic. Taxes on the lower and middle class brings in the most money. That is why they are always the first that pay with a tax hike. The rich just leave. They have that luxury.
