You suggested this isn't a wide spread problem.......numerous cities have already called for a halt due to lack of resources. Where did I say that? Those refugees that want to return should be allowed to go. Well no, they aren't, the public has no requirement to "step up" to help "smooth" Trudeau's failed policies. Syrians have been returning to Syria from camps to sell their homes, then returning to said camps....all the more reason to halt Government sponsored Syrian refugees, this mess was predicted months ago.

Energy East Causing Uproar
Derek 2.0 replied to Accountability Now's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Well pitter patter.........Privately funded stimulus, under the watchful eye of regulators, would surely be in the interest of the Trudeau Government I should think.........long term, it would a strategy that would further insulate Eastern Canada industry from price influxes once oil eventually rebounds....... Perhaps another useful Hero Project for the Trudeau Liberals would be the creation of a Strategic Petroleum Reserve in abandoned mines across Canada..........creating a Canadian controlled equilibrium for energy prices.... -

Who knows? That is why I suggested additional government oversight. -
How do you know its only 85 out of 15k? Has there been a poll? It should be halted if the people Trudeau wants to help felt better treated in the Middle East and want to go back now.......... Who? Trudeau's Government sponsored refugees are now the public's responsibility? Why are refugees that want to return to the Middle East being refused? There is no logical reason other than politics.

Energy East Causing Uproar
Derek 2.0 replied to Accountability Now's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Point of order..........The Trudeau Liberals plan to invest (by going further into debt) in vast "Hero Projects" to stimulate the economy. There are several near "shovel ready" proposed pipelines, that would be financed outside of the public purse, in most cases at a costs billions more than the Trudeau Liberals have proposed to spend on infrastructure...........Why wouldn't the Trudeau Liberals push through said pipelines, well providing additional Governmental oversight to calm any fears of potential negative impacts on the environment? It would seem a win-win, privately financed stimulus, allowing the Trudeau Liberals to direct money elsewhere, or on additional stimulus spending..... -
And more to the plight of several cities that want a halt on Syrian refugees.......it now seems some of the Syrians aren't too pleased, and want to go back to the Middle East: furthermore: and: So we have cities asking for a halt, and Syrians wanting to back to the Middle East........I think its time the Trudeau Government halts this costly charade and starts helping Canadians in far more dire need......namely First Nations and the tens of thousands of out of work Westerners....And let those Syrians that want to go back, leave.......Trudeau's pride aside, this is a disaster.

Trudeau 'revenue neutral' tax changes - not even close
Derek 2.0 replied to hitops's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Like I said, talk to a lawyer......I do know my sister in-law, a surgical nurse, could get a NAFTA visa tomorrow and wouldn't be limited to research/teaching. Maybe its different for physicians? Again they could have changed the rules, but my wife was employed at Baylor UMC Dallas for two years on one..... No, obviously you'd require accreditation, but we have family friends that did exactly that and opened a GP practice in OK City. -

Without a doubt. There are additional visas you could enter and practice medicine with, including ones afforded through NAFTA. When my wife and I first moved to the States in the 90s, she was only a permanent resident in Canada (with South African citizenship) and was limited to first coming in under my visa at the time and was then able to get a J-1 visa (I'm not sure if they have them anymore) to work/study at a medical collage in our area. When/if we return, we'll both go under E-2 investor visas, which could be an option for you, if you intend to set-up your own practice.....but then again, you might not want to take that plunge. If you're serious, talk to a lawyer and look at Texas.......safest place to practice anything in healthcare in the United States with the malpractice laws it has in place. -

And again, he didn't mention the 4% increase, but the tax regime in general. Well mentioning his motivations for staying here are family related..........and again, if my cited average Canadian income is correct, he likely isn't making over the 200k mark........ So your projections on page 9 are exactly that......your projections. -

Wait a minute, I never suggested what he actually did, or didn't do........and (on the second page) actually asked him, you're the one (alongside Smallc) that went page after page calling him a liar based on assumption............the proper thing to do would be for you to apologize to him. -

Further to that: versus: I don't know how accurate the above info is, but it would explain a lot. -

Perfect, thank you, and that was what I was leaning towards (something in the medical field) when he spoke to treatment centers versus living in rural areas.........that makes sense now. It actually makes perfect sense (now) and what would entail such a large increase in income, especially for a specialist. -

"Trudeau's plans" could mean anything.........where did he state, or even imply, that the 4% increase would impact him....quote it. In post #4, he mentions tax regime.........haven't we already established that an American will pay less tax? Again, you're calling BS on something he hasn't claimed........hence your projection. -

Derek 2.0 replied to hitops's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That's what he said..........but then, he could be an unemployed inert gas welder working at Canadian Tire or collecting EI. Where did he mention Trudeau's tax increase would impact him? That is your projection. Perhaps because you're calling him a liar? (Of note, I'm still waiting for a response from him) I don't see where you think he is implying anything, other then he feels he could now earn 2-2 1/2 times more money in the United States then in Canada..........and as an example, that could be true of any O&G sector worker now unemployed, or underemployed in Alberta, based on a multitude of factors....... As I said, I don't know, nor do you........and on reexamining his OP, its seems much of your points are simply projections of what you feel hitops was suggesting.......and you calling him a liar in unfounded. -

Your post on page 9 has no bearing on Hitops OP unless you know his previous/current/projected (American) income..............do you? Yes or No? A very simple question. -

Derek 2.0 replied to hitops's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
And I suggest you read the OP: Who makes more actual money based on current exchange rates, a Canadian earning $200k CDN versus an American making $200k USD? Now forget the current exchange rates, he says Trudeau's "plans".......here you've jumped on just the 4% increase for high income earners.........did hitops mention in the OP he currently was making over 200k? Are there other factors that the Trudeau Government could have on the economy, and in turn, ones ability to earn more money? Perhaps hitops was projecting the savings he'd realize from current tax rates? Perhaps Hitops is in a field that earns considerably more in the United States? Maybe hitop plans to start selling pot in Texas? Maybe he plans to count cards in Vegas....etc etc etc I don't know..........and nor do you.......... Hitops OP is vague at best, as such, your claims of his actual income/earning potential and differing tax rates are baseless and your own projections......and not made with information, confirmed or denied by hitops......so calling him a liar is unfounded and rude. -

Derek 2.0 replied to hitops's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No, I continue the point that you and I are not privy to his details.....as such, until we are, your assertion that his is a liar is baseless........ . What is hitops current income? What was his previous years income? What would his income be if he were able to obtain employment in the United States? Three simple questions, but three questions that you, nor I, can presently answer.........as such, your opinion is simply conjecture.........round that circle. -

What is a 4% increase in taxes on a 200000 income over 10 years? 20 years? 35 years? That is a lot of money for a 30 something to consider through to retirement..........are you an accountant at the CRA
