  1. I agree fully.......many with the remain side favored the devolution of EU member States own sovereignty, forgoing their own nationalism in favor of centralized control of the economy and in turn, their populations.........The EU was able to do (for several decades now?) what both Hitler and Napoleon failed at.......the writing has been on the wall since 1992, they made the tv movie during the Greek debt crisis, so the EU's collapse should come as no surprise....... As to why some favored remaining, I would assume, like anything, change scares people.......the EU, and before that the Common Market, have been apart of the British make-up for decades, so there are generations that haven't known any different. Inversely, those old enough to remember Britain prior to the Common Market, will remember a place and time that had just won a World War but was in steady decline with the divestment of the Empire and retrenchment back to the Suez.........to say nothing of high unemployment, rationing and a general malaise brought upon by post war British socialism ( "Old Labour") . Going forward without the EU, the British are once again in the captain's chair of their own destiny........they managed for centuries pretty well without the Continent telling them what they can't do.
  2. Its not black or white.....both camps are made up of people that support all the parties, the difference between the Tories and Labour is that the Tories acknowledged the division within their own ranks and gave its members a "free vote".......... As for the elite.........prior to the vote George Soros was warning a Leave would devastate the UK......after the vote, he's now saying the EU itself is finished........watch for Soros to start purchasing recently devalued pound sterling, well selling his holdings of the Euro The EU is the Titanic........the UK simply got onto a lifeboat first.
  3. It played a role, but not in the way many think.........the greatest concern wasn't over "brown people" but worker mobility rights afforded to Eastern Europeans and the impact they play on jobs, pay and safety rights in the United Kingdom.......Trade unions were just as vocal as the "uneducated rural folks".....this is no more evident by the loss in support of the Labour Party during their last election and the little influence they played on Brexit.
  4. The Government won't fall........its one year into a majority mandate........as to negotiations, simple......the same folks that have been doing exactly that for the United Kingdom for hundreds of years. Cameron will be replaced by (likely) Boris Johnson (maybe Michael Gove) and the United Kingdom will KBO.......
  5. UKIP is done........they won, they have no reason for being any longer.
  6. I'm not shooting anyone But this, like "renewed" calls for Ulster and Scotland exiting are just that.......the stay side isn't happy with the results and a segment of Ulster/Scotland still want to go it alone......what else is new.
  7. Exactly, Ulster and Scotland had the lowest voter participation across the entire UK.......and now they want a redo?
  8. Reread your link.....medium term Credit outlook, not rating.
  9. And his words are no different then those of the SNP or Irish Republicans.....or the Bloc in Quebec. You mean a redo until they get it right? Odd, that doesn't seem very Democratic.......much like the EU did with the Danes over Maastricht.....keep voting until you get it "right".....
  10. Not the slightest, the "right" has abandoned its enthusiasm for the rebirth of 17th century European mercantilism in the form of today's European Union.........Putin's reaction (of all people), which he's been muted through the whole process, is one of understanding for the British people, likening the European Parliament to the Supreme Soviet in terms of electoral accountability and control over a population......The British reaction, as I'm sure will follow across the EU, from Italy, to the Netherlands, Denmark, to Hungry and Poland, is the populace tried of the political establishment's control over their day to day lives..........This is Europe's Trump and Sanders.
  11. And Napoleon called the British a nation of shopkeepers.....companies like Lloyds , Barclays, BAE, HSBC, BP, Royal Dutch Shell, the Royal Bank of Scotland, GlaxoSmith Klein etc have no incentive to leave the United Kingdom for Europe......these companies have been in the United Kingdom for decades and in some cases centuries....the UK has been a financial capital for hundreds of years. The smartest thing the British ever did was not enter the Euro zone.....the British Pound will remain in a state of flux until there is a clearer picture on the details of leaving the EU.......the currency that will be the hardest hit is the Euro (to the benefit of the US Dollar), what with ~six national elections in the next year, all with countries with strong Euro skeptic parties........The European Union is the loser in all of this.
  12. I clearly highlighted the retired General's contrast between the two aircraft, which included far more than just "stealth" The F-35 was never suggested to be another Raptor........and again, as highlighted above, it is touted as vastly superior to current legacy types, including the F-15, which has only been surpassed by the F-22..........as stated, surpassing the aircraft it was intending to replace and the F-15 is exactly why many countries have and will sign up......... In the context of Canada, a vast improvement over our current Hornets.
  13. Scotland and Ulster aren't leaving........simply put, Scotland couldn't afford Independence, absent the price of oil more then doubling (and assuming Scotland got the North Sea oil, which based on how the Orkney's voted during the independence vote is doubtful).......Scotland is not another Norway, and would make the PIGS resemble fiscal well being. Likewise Ulster........the Irish are in no fiscal state to take on nearly 2 million welfare cases, more than half of which have no intention of joining the Catholic Republic.
  14. What's ironic? Scotland (or the Six Counties) aren't relevant.......Scotland and Ulster threatening their own exit (what else is new) is akin to two street people out front of McDonalds threatening to go to the next town over if you don't give them some change......Scotland won't go anywhere (I doubt a fracturing EU would have them) and Northern Ireland has been at it for over a century.......Gerry Adams needs the Catholics to spit out more babies in Ulster before Ireland proper realizes they themselves are broke and couldn't afford them.....
  15. Gone to where? The future of the British economy is now a given.......the same can't be said of the European Union and its future.
  16. Exactly and I'm surprised more Canadians don't share this opinion........those that disagree I would ask this: Would you favor an economic union comprised of all North and South American countries? Acknowledging that the United States would have the most clout in setting each nations policies and we'd be competing even more with not only low cost South American agriculture and manufacturing, but labour? If this were a bad deal for Canada, why is the opposite expected of the United Kingdom?
  17. I doubt, more likely the opposite..the financial sector is all about future stability...what's done is done with the United Kingdom. The British now, will control all of their own sovereign interests, a partial revision to the Victorian Empire economy.........the European Union is the one that will face growing instability as other countries leave (or look to leave) the Union.............expect Sweden and Denmark to follow along, and very likely Italy, the Netherlands and the Greeks......if/when the Nordic countries leave, the French and Germans will be tied to a bunch of weak economic countries....I'd be surprised if the Germans let themselves get to that point. The British leaving the EU is as historic for Europe as the collapse of the Soviet Union and the death of Mercantilism......and borrows many parallels from both.
  18. He contrasted both aircraft in the link I provided regarding "stealth". As said countless times, the comparison between the F-22 and F-35 is apples to oranges, as both aircraft are intended for differing roles (with some overlap).......likewise, as noted through countless threads, diminishing the F-35 because the F-22 is superior in certain roles is akin to crapping on the F-16 or the Hornets because they're not F-15s....truly is apples to oranges. If they decide rebooting the F-22 production, instead of going straight to the planned 6th generation platform, to replace the remaining F-15C and F-15E fleets that is a good thing, and will complement the F-35 just as the F-15 s presently do with the F-16 fleets (or in our case the Hornet).
  19. For the shear irony.......several months ago Johnny Lydon stated his position on Brexit......utter suicide....approaching Anarchy for the United Kingdom? I thought it was the UK, or just... another..... country.
  20. Two years transition, so plenty of time.........they managed for centuries without being chained to the rest of Europe........With the win, I expect the Swedes will follow quickly.......then anyone else with any sense will bugger off.......
  21. I think it will work, I think the doom and gloom was just that.......My family is on the leave side, but to be quite honest I'm rather gobsmacked they won.....didn't see it happening after the last couple of week's events..........My sister lives in the West Midlands and rung us a couple of hours ago after Birmingham went Leave to put on ITV......sealed the deal pretty much. I hope Cameron stays on the rest of the mandate, they'll need stability through the transition......UKIP now has no reason to exist, I'd expect them to role into the Tories to further unit the right......
  22. And there be the dichotomy........the Russians and Chinese claim they can or are close to "defeating Stealth"....yet they are proceeding with their own "stealth" programs.....go figure.

  24. Contrasted with the F-22? Without a doubt.
  25. Low band radar has been a reality for decades without a doubt, but its far more complex then just computing power or triangulation. Low-Band frequencies are far easier to jam (using Vietnam era technology), negating their effectiveness. Also, as mentioned, a powerful emitting (turned on) low band set will be "seen" at a far greater distance (like any radar, but far more pronounced with a lower band) allowing the attacker to attack the radar set before it would be able to detect and pass off to a fire control set a "stealth" target.............this again all goes back to the CNO's (often quoted) remarks regarding stealth/stand-off munitions............and is the modern day equivalent to Vietnam era A-6 Intruders flying "Iron Hand", the targeting of an enemy's radars. Very old hat. Again, Russian/Chinese technology isn't in stasis, I've never said otherwise, but it is markedly behind the West.......the very reason the West continues to develop new technology.........Without a doubt, even today, the most modern of Russian technology (see S-400) would/could pose a considerable risk to 4/4.5 generation aircraft, further to that, even during the '03 invasion of Iraq, Saddam's diminished air defense network still negated all aircraft (absent the F-117 and B-2) from attacking Baghdad proper.......And Saddam was sporting Soviet SAMs and radars from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
