I doubt you'd see that with Bush (or Rubio), both establishment GOP members.....Though Romney (and Perry) could be considered establishment to some extent, he (like Perry) was forced to go full tea party (never go full tea party!!) to minimize his "leftish" record.......Bush (and his team) don't have that problem and he'll be able to "play himself" based on his record, much like his brother and father before him......

Where are the various criminal groups in Mexico/United States/Canada obtaining the type 56 rifles, Uzis, P90s and Saiga 12s still in their factory grease from?
-
Perhaps Canada, but there is no clear evidence that the majority of firearms used in crimes in Mexico come from the United States........ Likewise, I didn't suggest that the Mexican cartels operate in a vacuum, quite the opposite, as Mexican cartels, like criminals within the United States (or even Canada), don't give gun control laws a second thought, and despite controls on the lawful sale of firearms in all three countries, criminals are still able to obtain firearms, and in many cases, firearms that can't even be bought lawfully in Mexico/United States/Canada......... As such, to curtail gun violence, in all three countries, one must resolve the causes of such violence......
-
What of it? The NRA no longer supports background checks that don't provide full mental health and criminal/arrest records...... And what do you base that on? The passage I quoted from Lott said different. Likewise, that doesn't refute his study that the majority of "mass shooting" since the 1950s occur in areas that restrict the lawful carrying of firearms....... I see, so are you suggesting that more Canadians attempt suicide, but fail, because they are using rope/pills? Does Iraq and Somalia have state sponsored gun control laws? Also, did you not suggest that gun control only works in wealthy countries? Mexico, after all, is within the top 20 of world economies, surpassing the majority of European nations in terms of national wealth (only several spots back from Canada).......... Outside of the BATF? Clearly smuggled in from the World's largest firearms producers, the United States, Russia China, Israel and Belgium........An international gun expo: Right, as made evident by the gun violence in Mexico, which has gun control laws far stricter than Canada and most of Europe.......but 4-5 times the gun violence as the United States.
-
So criminals are able to get guns, well both paying off and intimidating Mexican police (with guns), via the sole gun store in Mexico run by the Army, despite Mexican gun control laws? It would seem then that the Mexican Government could simply close said store and as a result cases of gun violence would decrease.......call me crazy, but I doubt that would work........ Inversely...........it would seem that there might be a better way to control gun violence, both in Mexico and the United States (and to a lesser extent Canada): Odd that once the reason for much of the violence has been diminished, ever so slightly I might add, the results are substantial.........and the Mexican Government didn't even need to close its sole gun store, nor further restrict Mexicans access to legal gun ownership..........what a notion. Furthermore, I might suggest, and I could be wrong, if the current level of resources used to combat drug related crime were freed-up by the legalization of recreational drugs, then there would be vastly more resources to publicly treat mental illness and poverty that has a direct tie to criminal activity........I know it must sound crazy, actually pointing to workable solutions that might resolve a goodly amount of the causes of gun violence, but there you go..... As to why social justice warriors and poverty pimps still go after the legal ownership of firearms, a fight that they are getting their asses handed to them I might add, as opposed to tackling the actual causes of violent crime, is beyond me.........my only thoughts as to why this might be is do to (lack of) intelligence, a haphazard emotional response, or in some cases, an ulterior motive rooted in the control of the populace through social(ist) engineering, of which, an armed populace is a major hurdle....
-
You don't believe the NRA once supported background checks? https://youtu.be/zI6FnSytSYg And today: Of course, why would we want criminals on the streets..........guilty as charged. Like who? I've yet to see anyone refute his claim that "mass shootings" namely occur in "gun free zones". Do you have a source that other methods fail more often? Canadians commit suicide at nearly the same rate as Americans, with Canadians males preferring to do themselves in by the noose, and women with pills......One could argue that Canadians have better access to mental healthcare providers, to explain the slightly lower rate.......but Canadians wishing to kill themselves just use a different method........ Right.........so what have the social justice warriors and poverty pimps been doing? Pitter-patter than..... Right, but I never said that. Ahh but it is cherry picked, as you qualify using "high-income countries"................Would you consider the blacks shooting each other in the United States to be of high income? Inversely, are the Mexican drug cartels poor? It would seem the underlining issue is present despite the overall wealth of a given nation, or in the case of Mexico, its stringent gun laws.........criminals will get guns and shoot each other. But have you? Canada doesn't have anywhere near the instances of poverty, criminal activity nor untreated mental illness as the United States. Inversely, for the minute instances of gun violence we do have, the majority of cases are committed with guns obtained despite our regulations and controls.

And Alaska etc...........Gun rights are not going anywhere.......but like gun rights, political hang-ups of the Right (Gay marriage, drugs etc) are also diminishing through the natural course.........its almost like its harder to take away and withhold natural rights of the individual than it is to "allow" the populace such things........ Hence gun rights, abortion, gay marriage, legal drugs etc all have eventual endgames, and opposition to such things is a wasted effort in the long-run.
-
Are they though? DELETED: Unnecessary overly large images. The opposition to drugs is namely one rooted in politics, much like the left's views on gun rights in the States..........yet guns are being produced in record numbers and pot is legal in four states and decriminalised in countless other States and growing......

Those are current production fields.......not know resources -
It is, like I said, odd that Mexico has stringent gun control measures, yet 4-5 times greater rates of gun violence than the United States.......
-
That would make sense no? As this author points out, banning guns within the United States is unrealistic, instead focus should put towards the failed war on drugs: Imagine that, a realistic solution that could help curb gun violence dramatically in the United States......
-
Oh, like in Mexico........
-
Right, and I've read somewhere (I'll try and find it) that 60-70% of all gun homicides in the United States are drug related...... edit: Drug related gun crime
-
Can you refute his decades long study? Yeah, but if the majority of those other 10000+ people killed themselves with rope or sleeping pills, I doubt you'd be calling for the banning of rope or medication....... Why? I get great pleasure in the fact that the advent of uncontrollable 3D guns will put your mantra of gun control forever out of reach........and your ilk will be forced to actually address the underlying issues. Every other civilized country has lesser rates of poverty, which in turn results in lesser violent crime and established healthcare systems that are able to cope with the mentally ill.........Not to mention, most of these "civilized countries" don't border one of the larger producers and transport hubs of recreational drugs. As stated countless times, your meme of gun control=less crime is absurd..........as used as an example countless times, Mexico has far more stringent gun control than even Canada, yet 4-5 times the rate of gun crime. Inversely, New Zealand or the Czech Republic have far laxer gun laws then most US States, but far less rates of gun crime....... Perhaps not to you, but you've clearly failed on one, and to the best of my knowledge have done little for the later....
-
"Gun strokers" once supported universal background checks, but "social justice warriors" fought against the inclusion of mental health records and nationwide arrest records within the FBI's NICS program......clearly one doesn't want to trample their privacy rights!!!! My question, what do you think gun control will do for poverty and mental health?
-
Says who? Conservatives don't like crime.......

NDP Make Big Move in Latest EKOS Poll

Nor did I suggest that the sole reason for an increased downturn in Alberta, but tax/royalty policy is/will be a major stumbling block in the way of a rebound: Clearly the Alberta NDP Government factor little into the worldwide pricing of oil & gas, but their political priorities will impact the industry in a negative fashion within Alberta.......As I said already, what incentive does a current company have to invest in Alberta, when their investment will see a greater return in Saskatchewan by nature of both Government's policies? Already Saskatchewan is the second largest oil producing Province in Canada, with larger holdings of tar sands than Alberta, with much of the development in Southern Saskatchewan (as opposed to Northern Alberta), which equates to the product having the advantage of being closer to market. For investors, the potential of Saskatchewan has been a known quantity for years, with the one major hurdle being battling already established Alberta, both in terms of existing O&G infrastructure and skilled workforce......... But now the Alberta NDP government has given Saskatchewan the incentive for growth.....The Alberta Advantage is no more.....And this will be further compounded by the increase in personal taxes, as what reason would a six-figure a year O&G worker in Alberta have to stay? If their job has moved to Saskatchewan, why would one stay in Alberta to pay higher taxes? The Alberta NDP Government, already increasing the Province's deficit by another $600+ million dollars, will truly devastate the Albertan economy far longer then the single term they will be in office....... -

The only fantasy world is the one where people think oil companies will stay in Alberta, when Saskatchewan offers a discounted 10% corporate tax rate to processors of bitumen, in addition tax credits to said companies that relocate research and head offices to the Province......not to mention royalties on O&G........ Regina will be the new Calgary, and Estevan the new Fort Mac........Already companies are expanding both storage and pipelines in the Province, namely in the Southern Region (in and around Estevan), which by happenstance is sitting on far more resources and is hundreds of miles closer to market.......Companies are already leaving Alberta....... -
Yes, because the Tories were polling in the low 30s in the months preceding the 2011 election, but now with the additional seats and Tory voter efficiency, the path to a Majority for the CPC is about ~35%.......and no, in the latest polls the NDP is declining, largely to the Bloc in Quebec (who are now 4 points behind the NDP) and to the Tories in Ontario...... And what do you think will happen to NDP numbers once the Tories/Liberals/Bloc/Media/Economists start questioning the NDP's socialists dreams?
-
Exactly, likewise his failed narrative that guns don't prevent crimes, as the gun grabbers only point to statistics that include justifiable homicides, leaving out the thousands of crime prevented each year by citizens with guns.....as most example include citizens not shooting criminals, but more often criminals fleeing or surrendering until the police arrive..... In all languages spoken across the globe, the sound of a racking shotgun is clearly understood.
-
Exactly, the real question, is why do gun grabbers persist in a losing battle.......are they just stupid or is it something else? Think of what all the wasted money that goes to gun control groups and what it could do for poor minorities living in crime ridden ghettos...
-
What polls? The polls are showing the Liberals in the toilet, the NDP dropping and the Bloc gaining ground on the NDP in Quebec.......with the Tories remaining in the same position, ~+/- 2-3% as they've been in for the last several years........Face it, your NDP tide is receding, as it stands today, the NDP is exactly where they were the day after the last election: and the Tories have regained the lead in Ontario, where the election will be decided.........Sorry Buddy, but I expect the NDP to continue to ebb as people examine their socialist policies and in Quebec, as it comes to light that the NDP do little to further Quebec's interests Hello, socialism is passe.....
-
I disagree, I doubt at any one point in his political history did a majority of people "like" Harper........and have you polling numbers to confirm that? Last I heard he was in the high 30s.......... Its a moot point though, as today's polling numbers are largely fluff, with most Canadians not paying attention until after the writ is dropped.......

In many ways yes, the question you should ask yourself though, is to why business would remain when business friendly Saskatchewan also has oil?
