Come on! There's a big difference between a man covering his hair and a Human being covering their face in public. I again ask this question. Have you ever seen a man hide his face in public?

Yes and those women also choose to not side with Canadian women's rights.

Honestly, I can provide many reports/analysis refuting this. Do you think I have no understanding of this issue?

It's not outrageous and I will provide a link to a study recently done with 100 niqab wearing women in Canada and what their thoughts are on women's rights in Canada. I can't post it on my iPhone.

You keep saying it's about the courts decision. I get that and I've moved on from that. Im speaking from the pov of moving away from Canadian women's rights and moving backwards.

So here's the thing. It's not a symbol of religion. If it were I'd be on board. It's a symbol of repression of women. The women who voluntarily choose to wear this garment are very conservative and are against many women's rights for equality. Canada does not want to take a step backwards for women's rights.

[quote name="Big Guy" post="1103597" timestamp=" I do find it ironic that many of those who argue that it is wrong for Muslims to be able to hide behind their niqab are the same folks who hide behind their chosen anonymity. Everyone on this forum hides behind their anonymity. Why are you singling out folks who disagree with you? Even you hide behind your anonymity.

What is arrogant are those men who seek to marginalize women in their cultures.

When a culture implements policies that marginalizes women, and those women feel inferior, that is a definition of an inferior culture.

When a culture marries off their children to pedophiles I'd say that's inferior and criminal. When a culture forces women to wear Burqas, can't go to school, can't be seen in public without a man, that's inferior.

That doesn't mean members should be called bigots, morons and mis-informed. Everyone has an opinion on the matter. That doesn't make them wrong.

I didn't say anything about being an expert. Here are a couple of articles you could review if you are not up on documentaries. They are written by Conrad Black, who would have an inside view of a Canadian in the American prison system. As much as many of us loathe Conrad Black for his arrogance, he does write with some experience of the American Justice system. http://news.nationalpost.com/full-comment/conrad-black-americas-correctional-system-is-utterly-disgraceful-and-ours-seems-to-be-heading-in-that-direction http://www.nationalreview.com/article/370815/prison-industrial-complex-conrad-black

Oh come on CC. Do we really need to label dissenting voices on the niqabs as bigots and morons or misinformed. We all have an opinion on the niqab for different reasons. It really doesn't matter who the woman is or when she is identified to some of us. But, please don't label us with those derogatory terms. It's insulting to us and to the integrity of this site. Let's be civil and let everyone express an opinion even if it may not agree with you.

I would suggest you watch the HBO documentary 'Vice'. It looks at the high rate of incarceration of minorities and follows obamas visit to a prison. First president to ever visit a prison. One of his priorities is fixing the prison system in his last months in office. In fact it has just been announced that thousands of non violent prisoners will be released because the sentence doesn't fit the crime. It's a very good documentary. I highly recommend it.

And under estimated for his quick witted intellect.

So why not let that speak for itself? Why the need to bait Harper supporters?
