  1. Any reputable Islamic scholar will confirm that these garments are not a requirement of Islam. So who requires them? It is the ideology of Islamic extremists. It is the extremists that believe women should not be allowed out of the house without being completely shrouded and in total submission. It's a frightening ideology from a woman's perspective. I'm not really sure that men understand fully what it means to be a woman and see these hideous blobs that this ideology reduces women to. As Dia has pointed out, women's rights in Western society are a fairly recent thing. I for one, would not like to see our society go backwards just to make those who still cling to these barbaric beliefs feel more comfortable with having them.

  2. Clearly adding 100,000 seniors is more costly than their basic numbers suggest. Seniors make up the majority of the high cost users, which means billions of dollars in extra health costs per year - for no benefit. So it makes no sense to bring in seniors. If people want to import their parents or grandparents they need to take out private health insurance for them first. Then they could be admitted as permanent residents (not immigrants) as long as their sponsor maintains that private health insurance.

  3. So right off the bat let's get one thing out of the way Veterans benefits have always been for the serving member, not family members. After watching this I'm wondering if the Liberals have now widened the scope of benefits? Previously the only way a family member would receive anything resembling benefits would be through the base counselling office. Things like marriage or family counselling. That's it. So have they expanded the scope? Or is this just another bizarre idea they've had. Either way, I still don't think a convicted cop killer should receive treatment paid for by veterans affairs when he never served a single day of his life and claims that killing the cop (a young woman) gave him PTSD that needs to be treated now.

  4. Well, there you go. The "stated goal" of a niqab ban is not to help women escape oppressive relationships. The goal is to keep Islamic extremism OUT of Canada. If some women are helped by the ban, that is a bonus. If it doesn't help other women, perhaps the problem is not with us, perhaps the problem is that they are Islamic extremists.

  5. Regardless of present trade levels, President Trump is right to challenge Canada (and Mexico) for existing tariffs, non-tariff barriers, transshipments, dumping, and IP theft. Even under existing NAFTA trade, Canada has continued to lose more share of North America auto production because of previous internal and external factors having absolutely nothing to do with Donald Trump.

  6. I heard a person being interviewed on TV (an expert of something).....that the Supreme Court will support this latest ruling that's been presided by three judges. The latest ruling had the judges criticizing the first one! Judge Belobaba erred in his decision and they explained how. He got slapped down. https://globalnews.ca/news/4464728/appeal-court-stay-toronto-city-council/ It's a done deal.

  8. Immigration has for the most part, been handled well over the years - if only because immigrants plan their lives around coming here, are self-supporting, follow the process and are prepared to join our Canadian family. Asylum claimants on the other hand - for the most part - show up in Canada and require the full support of government to acquire the skills they need to live, work and even to survive in Canada. It's a tremendous responsibility for both the refugee and Canada. That is where Trudeau has been such a dismal failure. It takes a lot of planning to develop what should be a 5 year plan for refugees. The Federal government's current responsibility ends after one year - then they become the Provinces' responsibility. Trudeau's reckless open-border policy has been devoid of any such responsible plan - no consultation with the Provinces prior to his "irregular crossing" ignorance. Putting aside those many thousands that are simply economic migrants who should be immediately shooed back to the US - those that genuinely require our help are getting none from Trudeau - no plan - no funding - no support. Meanwhile, real refugees who are trying to escape persecution are left to linger even longer in squalid camps. There is no virtue in Trudeau's actions. He's hurting the people Canada should be helping. He and his backroom idealogues care only about votes. Their grasping of this issue is an attempt to paint Conservatives as heartless and uncaring. If handled properly, it will be the Liberals will be proven heartless. Trouble is, the CBC and The Star will be on the Trudeau bandwagon. Maybe hang some garlic to ward them off?
