In another forum I am on there is currently a thread devoted to the Trade Centre(Sept 11th) and on that forum are several Middle Eastern people. A lady of that forum, Fatin by name, has given me permission to share her comments on why she fears America. I thought they were interesting, coming as they are from the "other side":

Do I think them immoral. Oh yes! They are a drug infested, self-abosrobed society that allows their children to run wild in the streets, their children to carry guns and their girls to dress like porn stars,. Marriage doe snot exist in America, single women shamelessly sleeping around and having babies out of wedlock. Like animals they seek only their base pleasure and nothing more.

Brenda writes that there is nothing they can do, but I say you can behave like adults and take charge of your children.

I worry all the time that my children will be killed by them. In truth, I am deeply, deeply afraid of America at all times. It is a wicked immoral society that influences the world away from morals and values.

Homosexuals are on their programmes and in their news, they celebrate this!

Criminals make money from books and tv appearances, and become heroes. they celebrate the evil instead of feeling the shame they should be feeling.

What have they given to the world but grief and war? Yes, I am afraid of america, to my very soul.

Fatin does have many valid concerns relating to the degeneration of the U.S. and including Canada.

There is no one to blame for this unfortunate occurrence other than Americans and Canadians themselves, who have ALLOWED and SUPPORTED the Liberalization of both countries.

Until citizens of both countries, come to their senses and stop supporting Liberal initiatives, conditions will only worsen.

I found that interesting, too. How terrible that we are tolerant of homosexuals! As for the rest of her opinions, I'm glad to see that Leafless includes Canada in her discription of the U.S. because there is really not much difference between our nations/cultures. But as Fortunata said, this person should get out more. Americans have done so much good throughout the world, and in most third world countries I've visited, it's been the citizens themselves who have pointed it out to me.

Agreed...what she is really afraid of is the liberal west in general, and the strongest example in the hegemon that is the USA. Ironically, it is women who suffer the most oppression under her present patriarchal belief system.

I am impressed by how free from rape Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia et. al. are. These are clearly model societies based on morality.

Oh yes, Afghanistan is quite free from homosexuality (link). remember, the term "sodomy" came from a village people by the Arabs' forebears.

I've a mom in my daycare who left her husband for another man.

Then, the cuckolded husband started dating another mom in my daycare as well. The only problem is, this other mom is still very much married. Not only is this a merry-go-round in adulterous affair.....but they're dragging their kids with them whenever they have a trysts! This mom is teaching her son to lie as well...to become an accomplice in the betrayal of her husband!

How do I know? How can you hide anything from a 9 year old??? Yep...they know that I know....and nobody's even ashamed of it!

Particularly many threads have touched on the reason why "they hate us".

The reasons I have put forth many times is so obvious, but many left wingers find it unbelievable.

They hate us because they think we are scum and they are superior.

I agree. However, my point is that our morals are not going down the drain...our morals have been down the drain for many many many years. The only difference is that these days people can actually talk openly about it without being censored.

Actually your morals are just fine. So are mine. So when I say "our" morals I really mean "some other peoples morals", regarding sexual behaviour anyways. But morals don't only apply to sex. Morals apply to many things. Fantin and yourself have claimed that Western Society's morals have gone down the drain.

Bingo. What some like to celebrate as "diversity" and "progressiveness" has elements of pure nihilism masquerading as liberalism. We are so imbued in relativist thought that we are unable to take a stand on anything, including morality, anymore. We have put ourselves at a distinct disadvantage against the enemy, because we will find it increasingly hard to hold the walls against the moral certainty of the other side. We made the mistake about thirty years ago of taking the discovery that there is more than one side to an argument and more than one view of morality, and extrapolating from that discovery the idea that all sides are equally valid. We have, in many ways, become a latterday Sodom and Gomorrah, and unless we voluntarly lose the hedonism, we will simply have it taken away from us one way or another.

Sure, affairs are nothing new. But it's the way adulterous affairs are being regarded now that's the difference! How many would've openly indulge in it in the past I wonder? And to involving children too....which is being done quite openly in the situation I have now with my clients.

Somebody says it was the no-fault divorce that's opened the door to this. Adultery became acceptable.

It's undeniable....the liberalism and relative moralism....and the tenacity of radical groups to assert their will and change society. Various areas of society are simultaneously targetted: traditional religion, education, media and entertainment, government-funded programs (propagandas).

It is a well-concerted effort.

Is "liberalism" synonymous with "the left" or the Democratic party and the equivilent parties in Canada? If so, I'd say some are straying from the original "fears" that this woman has expressed. Surely the gun laws and the war are not the result of "liberalism."

Not to speak for someone else, but I believe he's talking about the moral collapse of society, driven by what have become known in the postwar lexicon as "liberal values." In our society this snowballing trend has resulted in a worldview that proposes "diversity" and "acceptance" as 'good' in and of themselves, with no attention to the object in question.
