Deleting millions of emails (and making Nixon's 20 minutes of missing tape seem quaint), purging the Justice department of all non-toadies, losing track of billions and billions of war-related dollars: this is clearly the most cynical, corrupt, and downright evil government in history. But they seem to not even bother to want to hide it or answer to it. It's scary how cynical they've become and how much contempt they have for the American people, its institutions and traditions.

I suspect he doesn't. He likely thinks he's brilliantly refuted not just the initial point, but ALL ideas left of Mussolini forever. Look for a tantrum when that particular bubble of self-regard pops.

The surprising thing about many Bushites is the ideological pretzel-shapes they can take on to defend the regime for things it does that are contrary to traditional rightwing desires -- e.g. foreign interventionism, growth of government, intrusion in to individual lives, and MASSIVE deficit spending. I used to think there was at least a hard core of (albeit erroneous) principles on the Right, but it's clear now that expedience and cynicism are their true hallmarks.

Bush et al can look forward to even worse exposure than they currently have. They don't care about anything at this point but covering their arses from political and legal trouble -- they are not just in jeopardy of losing their base but many of them have to start preparing to defend themselves from criminal charges which may put them in Leavenworth

Well, I suppose the Bush haters need a thread to get together on. Weird how that Bush guy has managed to stay unarrested although he's sooooo dumb, when shmart guy Clinton couldn't keep one step ahead of his enemies. Weird.

Sorry all, I just can't take this kind of hysterical hyperbole any more seriously than I take Polly's rants about swastika shaped buildings and deathrays from the imperial councils. BuSH iS BeELzeBUb!1!!1!!!! Indeed.

It's hysterical to say point out what they've been doing, and how they don't even make excuses for it? Your weak arguments are getting weaker. I can see why.

The lovely thing that this thread demonstrates in technicolor is the sheer vapidity of rightwing apologists.

Here is a regime that has lied to the American people at the costs of hundreds of billions of dollars and multiple thousands of lives and still the apologists leap to its defence, but all they can muster is emptyheaded scolding. Not even sorry excuses anymore.

I'd like to take this moment to point out that my comments earlier were in no way defending Bush. Apparently he doesn't need any. However, I believe very little of what is said about Bush in the left wing media since they hate him so much.

At any rate, the reason I'm not taking this thread too seriously and labelled it a Bush hater thread was no one even bothered to provide a link or some kind of proof of this latest transgression. And all of the local Bush haters just chimed right in, without needing any link. Hows that for emptyheadedness Figgy?

backpeddle a little faster and maybe you can go back in time and fix your post before you submit it

Get real. The deleted emails has been covered in every media outlet on the planet. I could provide 50 links, but you still would stick your head up your ass and not believe it.

no need for a 'media outlet' --- it's even on the White House web pages --- only the truly demented are holding on to any denial at this point

Stay tuned for the sound of crickets from the apologists.

No, the cost in lives and dollars has been plain to see all along. The American people voted for more in 2004!

True enough. One would have hoped they did at one point have high ideals. I guess you're right. They never cared.

The American people were still under the mistaken impression that they weren't being run by a bunch of criminals. The vast majority are no longer under that impression.

Pointing out reality is obviously just Bush hating. At least to deluded ideologues.

Oh they cared allright, but it was about much more than just navel gazing. Anyone who thinks they have Bush cornered because of deleted e-mails is very desperate indeed. Compared to prior administrations, President Bush's has been relatively scandal free, and he didn't get "turfed" for Adscamming (snicker, snicker).

Deliberately moving government communications to a partisan email account and then deliberately deleting 5 million messages is a serious federal crime. They are eliminating any opportunity for any accountability for their other illegal actions. Even the honest Republicans that remain are appalled. I wouldn't call that desperate. Trying to label it as desperate, however, reeks of desperation.

Way to try and change the subject by bringing up adscam, though, as irrelevant as that is to American politics.

Thank you...and for an encore I will now laugh at your warm embrace of "honest" Republicans. Forensics can recover the e-mails if necessary unless they were "erased" to DoD standards. But first there would have to be an indictment for violating the Presidential Records Act.

Less than two years to go.....they will have to try much harder than this!

I believe they still exist, despite your cynicism.

No indictment is necessary. All they need is a subpoena.

and, though they are rare, there ARE 'honest Republicans' and even some few 'smart Republicans'

if you wish to find these rare creatures, you must go where Republicans caucus to pursue environmental issues and crimes committed by the administration

Then why did you post this just a few days ago?

"As much as the GOP has tried to play the blame game and say the previous administration dropped the ball on Arab terrorism, once again, all the evidence points to the fact that the Republicans are totally incompetent when it comes to national security. I guess when you don't believe government can be effective, it's a self-fullfilling prophesy once you're in power."
