It's the ultimate in ethnocentrism to think that we'd recognize inteligent aliens when they arrived.

Really, all evolution supporters should believe in some form of extraterrestial life, there are likely trazillions of planets out there like Earthish. Are they visiting us? I don't think we'd ever know.

It's not hard to believe there is simple life out there, such as bacteria. Intelligent life that can, and has visited earth? naaaaah

Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. We need to keep September 11 in perspective, especially because the ten thousand daily deaths are preventable.

Tesla Death Ray?

Hmm.

The logic was that a bulet goes 1500 miles/hour, and these things go faster. In 1947, the only thing that would have been fast enough would have been light. This fellow being interviewed on C2C interviewed the fellow who reversed engineered, and a doctor who treated the pilot of the plane who claimed to have shot down the saucer. He (the fellow being interviewed on C2C) speculated the Tesla Death Ray idea.

Even if there was life on other planets they would not resemble us in the least. Everything would be different about us and them. We probably would not be compatible in any way.

For instance we would or could probably be minus our skeleton frame if it was not for the crushing pressures of our earthly atmospheric pressure.

What would we look like?

A blob of organs in some sort of casing propelled in a unknown or unfamiliar manner.

For all practical purposes or reasons ....WE ARE ALONE in this universe.

Humiliating?

Do you not think for one moment if the Roswell UFO incident had any legitimacy, that the U.S. military would be first to capitalize on a new form of energy if one existed?

So far I have not heard of any compelling evidence and the U.S military is still using that same old expensive rocket technology.

Mr. Hellyer is a outright fool for making such an absurd statement, with no proof or evidence whatsoever.

Maybe you'd like to comment on Area 51, where there are still signs saying trespassers could be shot. The cold war is over and this area still isn't even on US maps. Why?

I've went to Area 51 about 7-8 years ago. Stayed at the Little A'Le'Inn for 5 days. There's a dirt road that leads past a farm and right up to the signs that tell you you cannot cross the line. Serious stuff.

I knew I'd find you on this thread. Hiya!

What gets me about this thread is everyone's absolute conviction that their notion is correct. I mean of course Polly will adopt the grand plot notion, but how in God's name does anyone else "know" about UFOs. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if aliens showed up tomorrow and said hi, and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if we found basic bacterial life on Mars. It wouldn't particularly surprise me if tomorrow we awakened to incontrovertable evidence that we are alone in the universe. I simply don't know. If I had to pick a favorite possibility, I'd say to my mind it's probable that alien life exists, it's possible that advanced ET civilizations exist, and it's conceivable that we have been visited. But then again I believe in God, too.

On the other hand, I have no time for bearded quacks who make a living of distorting evidence so they can keep sucking up speaker's fees for groups of treckie basement dwellers. The most dishonest thing I've yet seen is someone producing an official airforce document with the words "UFO" typed into the text, and claiming that this proves ET visited. They must know, if they're emersed in this subject, that "UFO" is a military term that simply denotes an 'unidentified flying object', and in no way connotes an ET. It's a latterday term for "bogey"...something that hasn't cleared airspace and identified itself. Crap like that is every bit as dishonest and screwed up as 911 conspiracy theory.

Of course. If there's alien talk, I'm there.

Very interesting way of looking at it. I definitely believe there would be other life out there, but like you, I don't think we'd recognize it as such.

We would have no comprehension of what it is, their customs (if such a concept exists outside of Earth) or what not.

Yes, that is probably true. Then again, I don't think anyone can say for certain.
