I didn't realise how much we are being influence by the TV folks, and it not just the regular commands:

- don't touch that dial

- stick around

- we will be right back

- don't go anywhere

I mean if everyone were to organised their activities according to their wishes, there would be no TV viewing audience now, would it? This is a reason the TV manipulators are giving an explanation why you should not leave the security of your living room.

Its freaky, the other night a friend invited me to hang-out at their gym 30km from my house, I am a fitness fanatic, so I am majorly tempted - checked in the weather channel - they advised don't go anywhere if it is not necessary, call for snow, black ice on the road, stay indoor etc. I am gullible, this time of course, I followed their advise.

The TV don't shit you -- its a freaking conspiracy for you to stay indoors and continue watching their TV because you probably don't have much to do... anyway so I watched TV.

No kidding now

The synopsis of the news, TV watching:

- Here is a death, it is bad

- Here is us, we bring you the news, unfolded right before your eyes

- Here feel good about yourself, get some shampoo

- Here have something to eat

- Here take it easy

- Here look good

- Here, a solution, get a dog

- Here blab, garb

- Here stay tuned, we have more of this

I mean in the 1/2 hour newscast, only about 9 minutes was news, taking me from gruesome sadness and death in Iraq, implanting the same visual images over and over (CNN), to my favorite cover girl lipstick for me to look good, to my favorite topping on my pizza, to ironic joking about the weather, to sports on the latest fad of pole dancing exercise, and a final breather of relaxing dog show. The imagery is so corrupted, confusing and distorted, with no logic, is chaotic that one cannot analyse the news rationally without staying tune, and being persuaded by the TV opinion

Where have you been?

Well, I mostly read the papers, I have very long days, so didn't have much time for TV, wasn't until recently I took an active interest in TV

Dear RB,

I avoid that accursed box as much as I can. Real life is so much more interesting. I watch the news on occasion, perhaps once or twice a year, unless there is something of note happening. Really, though, I prefer 'data' to hype and spin, so the vast majority of my info comes from books or online.

Otherwise, I prefer to play hockey rather than watch it, I prefer playing poker with my friends (and lots of beer) that watching it, rather have sex than watch it....reality is way better than reality TV. Life is what you make of it.

Would the Special Olympics Committee disqualify kids born with flippers from the swimming events?

Took the last one out of the house about 5 years ago - best thing I ever did.

I knew it was working when my youngest came home from a visit with some friends.

"How'd the visit go Hon?"

"Boring Dad. All they wanted to do was watch some stupid television program."

Toss it and read - you will be further ahead.

Movies? Rent a DVD and play it on the computer screen.

personally i can no longer stand tv. all it is is programing, this is good, this is bad, this is good, etc. worst of all is the commercials, don't the tv companies make enough money selling cable, let alone air time for commercials. and i can see the difference already, kids who have been brought up on tv don't think for themselves. they get there oppinions, not just the news, but all nearly all of their oppinions from tv. kids and most people now a days feel no need to seek information themselves. the worst thing about it is how it brainwashes children to be consumer who*es from the day they were born. tv is a way to brainwash people. they can control how often on average someone will see an image, what there oppinions will be, what they want, etc, etc. the one thing that pisses me off the most is the constant "iran is bad" on CNN. it is never a major story, just some random bs that ignorants take to be news. theyve been telling us iran is bad for atleast the last 3 years on CNN, how long until the invasion? just by mentioning iran is bad before iran ever acts affects the viewers oppinions. if any of you are interested i have several US military documents entailing the use of mass media as a force multiplier.

I ditched the cable TV link 3 years ago. I still have the TV, (now it is a dedicated PS2/mame 'monitor') I read the paper, read the news sites and the other news sites. And I read this place. I watch my news clips online with my PC, MSM and the fringe.

TV offers you nothing of importance anymore.

BUT STAY TUNED ! MORE TO COME ON THIS IMPORTANT BREAKING STORY....

I watch The Simpsons and Family Guy.

I also usually keep the news on in the background while I'm making/eating dinner etc.

That's about all I watch.

Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. We need to keep September 11 in perspective, especially because the ten thousand daily deaths are preventable.

It's more than that. Everybody knows that TV programs the youth of the country, and to a lesser extent, the adults, but TV is where most of the population of the western world gets their information about the events of the world around them. Okay, this alone is a dangerous situation, but when you look at how many people control the flow of information, it becomes terrifying. A select echelon of people control what the majority of people in the western world know about what's going on around them.
