The only trouble is I personally remember being fed that scare in high school during the early-to-mid 1970's.

you were gullible and had no clue what was being explained to you, and that's your own fault...your faulty perception doesn't reflect the reality...

your hypothesis has more than a few holes in it....CO2 can follow temp or it can drive temp, go talk to any chemist (just not RNG)...

there has been no significant increase in solar activity for some time about 30 years, but still the temp and CO2 goes up...in a typical planetary warming an increase in CO2 comes after an initial warming but there is on average an 800 year delay...unlike today where CO2 is rising before temps...

I'm guessing you finished high school in 1950-55?

The fact that the sun has been relatively quiet for 30 years supports the real numbers that reveal a slight cooling not warming over the past 10 years.

Last winter was one of the coldest on record in many areas. They had record lows this summer in California and Hawaii as examples. Many northern regions have experienced snow storms as early as September when they normally start in November.

It has been admitted that the hockey stick was fabricated. The scenes of glaciers pouring into the ocean from Gore's movie were stolen from the movie "The Day After". The special effects people who created the scene recognized their work.

Some scientists that helped fabricate the entire hysteria have now admitted that the evidence does not favour global warming.

The biggest contributor to greenhouse gasses is water vapour. Maybe they should tax us for boiling water to make pasta. Man made CO2 has increased by less than 1%. CO2 is not a poisonous gas. Why did the planet not go into self destruct mode when it was densely populated by dinosaurs? The C02 and methane and other gases they emitted during the decomposition process was far superior to man's contribution today.

Scientist cannot be trusted; they are human. They can be persuaded to show evidence to support a hidden agenda. Many will pretend to support a theory just to get research grants. We need to believe in the scientific method and not the individual scientists.

Insults are not necessary. I joined this forum because I thought its participants were civilized.

sometimes it's just not worth the effort...

how clued out are you? CO2 isn't a poisonous gas??? put your head in a bag of CO2 for two minutes, have a family member stand buy ready to call 911...

In that respect I guess water is a poisonous liquid. Fill your sink with water and put you head in it for a few minutes.

Would you call helium a poison? I'm not sure if 2 min of CO2 would be enough to kill you, at 100%. Equally well you don't down a Costco sized bottle of aspirin when you have a headache. A couple work great, a big bottle will kill you. But equally well, put your head in a bag of 100% helium for 5 min and you will be dead or darn close. That's oxygen deprivation. The whole CO2 is poisonous, at ppm levels is just silly.

The government can't give anything to anyone without having first taken it from someone else.

Then oxygen is poisonous to plants. Even to fish.

The number of papers on climate change today is entirely a result of governments who made it clear that they wished to fund that kind of research. A choice that was made because there were political agendas that would benefit from a belief that climate change was happening and it was caused by man. Nobody figured they could benefit politically from the cooling theory so there was no incentive to fund the research hence fewer papers.

This is akin to a conspiracy theory. If the consensus were that wrong, then a single scientist could make a great name for him/herself by publishing the truth. These theories are published and debated in the open, period.

Arguably the biggest GW skeptic scientist is Richard Lindzen and he has said that there is warming, and that 30% of warming is man made.

I would love to have a debate about our response to global warming, but it seems that if there are even one or two posters who dispute that, then that's what we debate.

Maybe we do that because the answer is clearer, from the leftist side...

I'll start a new thread.

Put it somewhere other than the Federal Politics section. Otherwise it just because a political pissing match between con and lib views.

“Safeguarding the rights of others is the most noble and beautiful end of a human being.” Kahlil Gibran

Hundreds of papers published since the 1990s ?

So how do the papers make us warm? They can barely help me to start fire in the woodstove. We have to cut more wood than 10 years ago.

Last winter 80% my King of the North grape vines froze, and that is a specie developed by University of Minnesota to survive -40C (supposedly)

The thing with wyly is that he is very hypocritical. He tells us that humans are causing climate change, yet he spends hours on the computer debriefing us on his vacation that nobody really cares about.

I like how he uses the word "denier" to try to put down those who don't believe in this AGW garbage. Thousands of scientists who once believed humans were causing global warming have reversed their positions. Wyly preaches science, yet scientists who disagree with him are now "deniers", or loony uneducated scientists.

It is a fact that governments have given BILLIONS of dollars to scientists to say humans are causing climate change. As a scientist, you either find what the government wants you to find, or you get your funding cut. It's an evil business.

I challenge everyone to research how Maurice Strong has pushed hard for AGW. Realize why he wants us to believe humans are causing climate change.

Thank goodness we have scientists (deniers I guess) who aren't controlled by the mighty dollar who are able to poke holes in AL the inaccuracies that Dave Suzuki and Al Gore want us to blindly follow.

And finally, wyly, I asked you this earlier but you didn't answer. On a personal level, what are you doing to combat the climate change that you so strongly believe is caused by humans? Hopping on a jet for Europe can't be one of them. I'll give you a chance to read today's Toronto Star so that you will be equipped to give an answer.

There will always be individual periods of cold, even in a general warming trend. There was still winter during the middle ages warming period...

So where is the warming trend?

Not here, not in central Europe and not in Thailand.

the point being he said CO2 is not a poison when in fact it is, everything is when it's not in it's correct proportions, he's using incorrect information to make a point...it's always about PPM, even when we think of what we traditionally consider poisons it comes down to PPM, arsenic will not kill you until it reaches a critical level of PPM...probably less than 2 minutes of CO2 will cause you to blackout and die, once your lungs fill up with CO2 asphyxiation begins...and surprisingly to most people even pure oxygen is fatal...and CO2 is part of sick building syndrome which causes illness at low levels which makes it a toxin... Averaged, and factored over several points ? Do you challenge that ?

Yes, why always pointing to places no one lives? Who cares what the weather is like there?

Besides, some polar bears are moving South.

where was the insult?..asking you when you completed high school?...if that was it, it's a relevant question because your reasoning indicates to me "old school" education...your argument consists of factual errors, myths and conspiracies, if your older then your point of view is understandable as a product of past education, if you're young person than you're inexcusably stupid...
