Catchme
Good job! The Conservative government has scrapped one of the last remnants of official discrimination against same-sex couples, a move hailed by the NDP's immigration critic as "an important victory" for equality. Same-sex couples married outside Canada will now be fully recognized as spouses for immigration purposes, after a controversial temporary policy was annulled last week. The policy was introduced in June 2004, after Quebec became the third province to legalize gay marriage. When same-sex marriage was made legal throughout Canada in 2005, the bar on foreign gay marriages remained in place. Equality at last

jbg
Oh yes, jbg, aggitating against Muslims and the illegal and unrighteous bombing of Iran is so much more important! Learning English (or Canadian) grammar and spelling should be an even higher personal priority. But my point is that the rights of the few gays that even try to marry has occupied a disproportionate amount of time of judges and politicians on both sides of 49. It is purely an "elite" concern, not a concern of the common man.

It is purely an "elite" concern, not a concern of the common man. All the better that this issue be decided and filed away. Of course, I can't help but point out that this would have been old news if it wasn't for the continued bleatings of the right-wing nuts. Now we can move on to more significant issues: like leagalizing dope, maaaaaan. Me, I welcome our new homosexual overlords. It would be nice to see a "gay drain" from the States to Canada, what with their higher than average incomes and educations.

It is purely an "elite" concern, not a concern of the common man. Please define "common man" and please explain, what you think should concern the "common man'? Means people struggling to pay their bills and operate businesses, i.e. have more things to worry about than the right of a handful of gays to solemnize their relationships. And, if they think the latter is important, what rules do they have in mind for gay divorces. The enactment of equitable distribution laws aimed in favor of females wouldn't benefit them. Welcome abroad Guyser, you are thinking right now. I agree move out the homeless and the panhandlers. As for the Gays, money isn't everything, and I would prefer to lose the tax dollars that the Gay lobby might have, because it is going to be off set by caring for the rising HIV/AIDS rates from among the Sodomites. As a Toronto resident, I don't welcome Gays. I don't want them in my neighbourhood, and I wouldn't object to people petitioning them out. OUT UNCLEAR SODOMITE! PROUD TO BE A REFORMER, BUY A GUN AND PO A LIBERAL!

In my belief system, GAYS are SODOMITES, and are therefore EVIL. In the neighbourhood I live in, there are a lot of children. Normal people would not want an openly Gay couple moving into their neighbourhood. The SODOMITE couple would be forced out one way or the other (if I know my neighbours correctly). As for tax dollars, the all mightby dollar is not worth your SOUL Guyser. Don't sell your soul for a few lousy dollars. You would be heading down a long slippery slope. My question to you is "would you also want other perverts like child molestors to come to Toronto, because they pay taxes too, or Child pornographers?" Please say is ain't so? Please Guyser, don't show your liberal colours on this issue..... Gays = HIV Gays = lose morals Gays = corruption of children's belief system Gays = EVIL PROUD TO BE A REFORMER, BUY A GUN AND PO A LIBERAL!

You are smart enough to know what buttons to push to get the response you seem to need or want , but apparently not smart enough to realize that your "thoughts" are purely those of an uneducated man . Gays are not sodomites in any way shape or form that you are. Either we all are or none of us are.Take your pick . Do I care one iota if there are children in your neighbourhood? Why should I, just because there may be gays in that same neighbourhood means nothing.Oh please , get off your soapbox. No, "normal people" do not have any bias against a gay couple moving into the neighbourhood. Only small minded, ignorant , and/or extremely stupid, misogynist , bigotted and wholly uneducated people do. So whatever you want to quantify yourself as is fine, just know that others view your ignorance in another light. There has NEVER been a study lending homosexuals as a leading indicator nor practitioner of pedophilia. Most pedophiles come from the straight scene. Here is an example of your simpleton mind. Oh and you can try to justify it as "your belief" or on some equal plane, but to ask me whether "would you also want other perverts like child molestors to come to Toronto, because they pay taxes too, or Child pornographers? " is pretty dumb Laughable really, you equate Gays with child molestors and child pornographers. Here is a little lesson for you. Two of those are punishable by law , one is not. Can you answer the question? HIV, loose morals, corruption of childrens beliefs and evil are NOT the domain of gays. No study, no thesis, no anything you can show me makes what you wrote true. You can never honestly defend your argument because you have nothing to back it up. Just your trolling ways. So, are you Ernst or Fred Phelps? jbg
Gays = lose morals Not even English. Are you a Francophone? All kidding aside, you know by now that I am not politically correct at all. That post is a needlessly insensitive and bigoted post. I hold no flag for gay marriage, or promotion of gay rights over the rights of others. I have a real problem with not given them equal rights, and letting them give to and take from society in accordance with what they have to contribute. Bigotry is the most counter-productive and anti-individual rights set of beliefs and practices I can imagine. A true conservative wants everyone to be able to contribute, and offer what they have, since a rising tide lifts all boats. Suppression and persecution impoverish us all.
