I do not believe in permanent e-enemies. The fact is I am to both BC's and Remiel's left on many issues.

Oh, don't worry, I completely agree that ft.niagara is the problem character.

Anyway, I did say, " at times " ... What it really comes down to is not that I think you dislike as a rule, but that you have an unrealistic idea of some of that groups responsibility for rogue elements of their society. Of course we'd all like for the Middle East to settle down to something resembling healthy discontent instead of racist hatred, but the blame game will not make ordinary Palestinians cooperate, it will make them defensive, which is counterproductive (the same could be said for Israelis too, I guess, the more people blame them for hardline elements of their society, the more defensive they will get, which isn't helping either, so it goes both ways, and that is the important thought, that it goes both ways). I mean, do all Canadians feel personally responsible for the crimes of Robert Pickton? He's probably killed more people than most suicide bombers, and yet that bastard is still alive.

Some values are, or should be, universal. Great societies such as the US and Canada should think long an dhard before ditching standards that have made our greatness possible.

No one's seriously talking about us ditching our beliefs. What I'm talking about is the simple reality that there is no such thing as a universal values-set. I recognize our way is superior and that the world would be a better place if more people we like us. But I'm pragmatic enough to know that the liklihood of western values being adopted everywhere is small, even smaller still when they are foisted upon an unwilling population.

Strange bedfellows indeed. An antiRomanCatholic, antiPope, incoherent intellectual wannabe. A Jewish Israel apologist who would send unknown number of goys, I mean boys to death in Iran, and who dislikes grammar mistakes together with a fellow to whom English is a second language.

I think we need to consider the possibility that Ft. Niagara may be the problematic character. :o

Consider the possibility that he may not be the problematic character. Consider the possibility that an author of a antiChristian, antiPope, antiRomanCatholic bating thread is no differnet than an antisemite Mr. JBG.

In a way though it's sad at the same time it is funny, to see how the mighty fall.

The only thread I've ever authored on any Pope is one on John Paul II after he died, on a bunch of boards. I was a great admirer of his.

Why don't you stick to facts?

Your bedfellow BCChick is the author of this thread, which is the moral equivalent of an antisemetic rant. Where was the moral outrage? Is it only reserved for the antiJewish, antisemetic moniker. And finally Mr. Reimel who might be a frankophone given his usage of the English language, your other new bedfellow. Strange bedfellows all especially considering your sensitivities.

Where have I staryed from the facts?

You strayed from facts when you accused me of authoring this thread. I am not so bigoted that I can't, on occasion, agree with a liberal or a Francophone. The opening post is not anti-Semitic; there is nothing in common between Judaism and moral relativism that I am aware of.

I did not accuse you of authoring this thread. I was only referencing your selective moral outrage and hypocracy with regard to the content of this thread, and its author. You are quick to use the Anti word towards me, but not toward the BCC. AntiChristian is a moral equivalent to AntiJewish. This is a fact.

There have been issues that you and I are side-by-side on. I have a good marriage, but my wife voted for Kerry, I voted for Bush. Please don't assume that friends agree on everything, or the conversations would get very boring.

Even if I were a francophone, the fact is that I spell a hell of a lot better than you do, Mr. " Superior English " . Do you have something against francophones?

I know you are not a francophone, but that would be a good excuse for your often horrible English grammar, and spelling skills. If you read some more political books, your skills will probably improve though.

What is the point of that apparently pointless remark?

No point really. You seemed to be trying to be conciliatory. Politicians are conciliatory. Lawyers involved in elections are either district attorneys and judges. I see you more as a district attorney type.

Hardly. In the course of my legal dealings, I'm more or less the "troubleshooter". It is generally not my function to be the "voice of reason". In the game of "good cop-bad cop" I'm definitely the latter. On boards, on the other hand, many issues are discussed, and we may disagree on some, agree on some.

What JBG says here is true. I am friends with people who I don't agree with on every issue. In fact I don't think anyone ever agrees 100 percent with anyone on everything. It would be pretty hard to keep families together and have relationships if we had to be in total agreement with them on every issue.

While I agree that disagreement, especially over politics can be intellectually stimulating, I do not think that disagreement is all that healthy for family relationships. Even disagreement over politics in family situations can be damaging. Usually, those are just areas you just don't go there if there are known disagreements. Disagreements over child raising, and especially finances can be very damaging.
