Stick to reporting

He affixed a bumper sticker to my car, reading: "I made a fortune in oil, but I spent it all on gas."
More troubling to me than the vandalism was that this sticker -- obviously designed to be used in this guerrilla tactic -- was proudly sponsored by the CBC. They had their logo right on it -- CBC 1010, the government agency's Calgary branch plant.
It's one thing for a group of private environmental activists to sponsor a vandalism campaign like this.
Why is the CBC, which extracts close to a billion dollars from taxpayers, engaging in a political campaign? And why are they producing bumper stickers clearly meant to be stuck on other people's vehicles without their permission? There are so many things wrong with this, it's no surprise the CBC did it.

The CBC once again proves they have no business being in any media business, all the while claiming to be an unbiased national news network.

Where does he get the idea that CBC produced these bumper stickers in order to stick them on other people's vehicules? I think I should head on down to Canadian Tire, buy myself some spray paint, and spray paint those words onto his vehicule. Then I can watch innocently as he blames Canadian Tire for their "anti-Alberta bigotry".

Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. We need to keep September 11 in perspective, especially because the ten thousand daily deaths are preventable.

I hope your ability to spray paint, printing quality lettering is real good. <_<

I just love the paranoia.

And why are they producing bumper stickers clearly meant to be stuck on other people's vehicles without their permission?

Ofcourse it would never be intended for some people who have a sense of humour.

the sticker is anti-Alberta, just like the CBC is.

The whole country is Anti-Alberta.....apparently.

It demonizes the oilpatch,
,

Demonizes the oilpatch? Where? Only in the authors mind I think.

implying oil companies make too much money
Oil Companies? Where did the sticker say anything about oil companies?

and they charge too much at the pumps
. Could it be the sticker is referring to a gas guzzling vehicle?
That's the kind of rhetoric one hears mainly in Toronto and Montreal.

Ah the twin centers of all that is evil.

an outpost of Eastern thinking. They want to re-educate us.

That's right, off to brainwashing camp for you all.

They are morally better than us, they're smarter than us and they need to save us from ourselves. But they'll take our money.

Hahaha, that is hilarious.

And they're all out to get you too.

If my truck had been vandalized by kids, that would be disappointing, but not surprising. That it was vandalized on the encouragement of a distant and partisan propaganda arm is revolting

LMAO Somebody get this guy some prozac.

That the CBC would pick on the oilpatch and SUVs -- while sucking on the tax teat of those two industries -- is hypocritical.
The poor defenseless Oilpatch and SUV's. What ever will they do now that they have been violated?
That the CBC's definition of humour is anti-Alberta bigotry is a disappointing reminder the CBC has ceased to be useful to anyone, except to leftist activists.

NO, I would say that as long as the CBC can fuel this kind of hilarious article every once in a while it still has a use.

I didn't make a fortune in oil, but I paid a fortune in taxes to the Alberta-haters at the CBC

So you missed the oil boat. That's why you're so pissed at the sticker. C'mon be honest.

That's more outrageous than vandalism.

But not quite as outrageous as this article.

Harper differed with his party on some key policy issues; in 1995, for example, he was one of only two Reform MPs to vote in favour of federal legislation requiring owners to register their guns.

Write to Stephen Harper. He holds the purse strings now. He can end the CBC. And if he doesn't, you can accuse him of an anti-Alberta bigotry and start a new western based party.

So it's okay by you for the CBC to have this kind of bumper stickers?

I'm not even sure they belong to the CBC. It would help if the columnist had asked them. I've never seen a CBC bumper sticker before. And if he did ask them, find out what it means.

This is a serious issue. I think an inquiry needs to be called and those responsible dismissed.

Sounds like this one's for Regina (i.e. the Crown, not the Saskatchewan capital) to handle.

That is absolutely horrible.

We need to stop the funding to the CBC. Our tax dollars shouldn't be paying for a political agenda driven party. The CBC is not respected world wide as being a credible news organization.

They should stick wtih reporting news at a much, much, lower scale than they do now. It should be more like a PBS or CPAC. A very small portion of our media market.

Also I was reading through the Calgary sun.

"The Calgary Health Region is now seriously considering forcing all city restaurants to remove artificial trans fat from their meals"

What the hell is going on over there?

Good ol' Ezra Levant, Canada's Rush Limbaugh... What an absolute fool.

How is a bumper sticker commenting on the price of gas political or partisan? Was it CBC employees that stuck the sticker to his Hummer or did some environmentalists like the phrase and take a bunch of free stickers to assault gas guzzlers? As usual Ezra is light on facts and heavy on paranoia. I think Ezra should drive his Hummer downtown, south of the Auclair market, pay for a hummer and chill.

Hey Ezra just like most of the world doesn’t think about Canada very often, most of Canada doesn’t give a shit about Alberta…especially in Toronto and Montreal. The east isn’t anti-Alberta, stop inflating your own importance.

Are you being sarcastic? An inquiry into the creation of a bumper sticker that says gas is expensive? Do you think we have tax money coming out of our ears to spend on inquiries? How anyone can politicize the fact that gas costs more money than it used to is beyond me.

Boy are you guys gullible. You believe what comes out of a known anti-CBC's, anti-anything-but-Conservative and take it as god abiding truth? Bwahahahahahaha.

You two see the worst and believe the worst because you want to. Talk about being brainwashed. Didn't anyone ever tell you that if you look for something you find it, even if it isn't there. Man you guys are funny.

Me, I'd like to see some evidence of such bumper stickers before I actually pass judgment on it. The CBC shop doesn't seem to sell them. And frankly, Ezra Levant's word ain't good enough. Even if CBC Calgary makes them, Ezzie is way off.

More troubling to me than the vandalism was that this sticker -- obviously designed to be used in this guerrilla tactic -- was proudly sponsored by the CBC.

I hope next week he goes after other nefarious lefty anti-capitalist messages such as "I owe, I owe, so off to work I go" or "I'd rather be golfing."

And if Ezra needs something to cover the offending message, I suggest a sticker reading: "Proud owner of an extra chromosome."

Well I read the article. Quite an over reaction on your part. Much Ado about nothing. I do feel bad he got his Hummer tagged with a bumper sticker, like any other act of vandalism.

The rest of what you say, and his comments are pure phony fake hype.

His to sell newspapers.

Yeah our gov't is funding stickers to be put on SUV's.

Nice one.

Then there's the black book of sex for girz that the gov't funded:

"The Little Black Book for Girlz: A Book on Healthy Sexuality". Parents were outraged when they learned of the book which gives detailed instruction for teens to engage in lesbian sex acts.

The manual was further condemned for using obscene and derogatory language. Examples include a section entitled "My First Time F***ing a Girl" and the statement "If you need someone to represent God The Holiness, then for me, it's a fat black dyke."

And what do you know, it's a recommended read by the CBC!

Yeah. By the people who own them. That is, of course, assuming the stickers actually exist and are in fact funded by the CBC.

Ok so let me get this straight. Let me understand left wing agenda mentality. So that sticker is made for people to put on their own SUV to make an environmental statement. So people who feel very strongly about the environment.. people that feel so strong they will put a sticker on their vehicle own gas guzzling SUV's? Lol!

I plan on Getting an SUV for my next vehics. I couldn't care less about my emisssions. It's not Canada's problem.

I had no idea that anyone who appears on CBC automatically represents the CBC.

Well the CBC has to take responsiblity for all it's guests and website content. They recommended this book for Childrens content. It was also funded by our gov't and so is the CBC.

We need to get rid of them both.

And then let them burn in hell.

Actually, it was created by young adults for young adults. How come social conservatives never bitched when CBC broadcast that gawd-awful, downright offensive Hymn Sing every week? If they recommended some jesus-loves-you book, you wouldn't have a problem with it.

For some reason, you feel incapable of debating the real issue, which is that you don't agree with public broadcasting, so instead you keep bringing up lame little content-related anecdotes to try and drum up support through the back door.

They aren't publishing books; they're inviting private individuals to recommend books. Why bring this topic up if you don't even know what they're doing? If you agree that the content is irrelevant and that it is just the point that they are subsidized by taxpayers' money, then why bring up the content at all?
