And the people with worn and faded blue hats warned you about this, they recognize the pattern... remember? Was there a component of empowering local women and girls to your peacekeeping? That might explain what you saw. This has definitely caused friction where men are used to being on top. In their article “The Growing Gender Gap Among Young People" Brookings researchers track how young women have integrated "anti-patriarchal" values over the past decade. Conversely, young men increasingly feel isolated or discriminated against by modern cultural shifts. It sounds like you saw a pattern of feminism and a backlash to it in warm places you said but if you're saying you saw woman becoming lefties and men becoming righties which one were you were warning against and why exactly? Was it an unprecedented phenomenon or threat in your view? From who or what. A terrible backlash of some sort apparently. I wonder what Army Guy would think? He talks a lot about trying to do things to help girls and women in Afghanistan but he never mentioned any concern about it causing them to become lefties. As I've been given to understand it men went around later cutting out the tongues of girls who'd been taught to read. What I'm talking about is more how modern political polarization and historical racial animosity parallel each other. 1 hour ago, Venandi said: We warned you about that too. Sure...And I've been listening to you people whine about the left all my life as well. 1 hour ago, Venandi said: The divisions are now so entrenched on so many fronts that the political see-saw will soon become one of extremes. Trump is just the beginning of things you aren't going to like IMO. What always used to surprise me was the glee and eagerness though, it's as sad as it is predictable. Part of the human condition I think, and no amount of education or sophistication seems to deter it once it becomes self sustaining. Democracy is largely based on compromise and when identity politics becomes a tool for political gain, the spirit of compromise becomes... well, compromised. Then, in the fullness of time, when people come to embrace (and even enjoy) the conflict that always accompanies it, things can go off the rails pretty quickly once the tipping point is reached. You're suggesting after 65 years or more that the right has finally reached its breaking point - it's about time don't you think? Except...what if it's the women causing all the problems? And every thing they did was backed and supported by the NDP who kept them in power. From where you're sitting sure. In any case you're probably happy knowing a growing percentage of Liberals are balking at Carney's clear nod to a pipeline and stand likely to jump. I can't wait to see you cheering the floor crossing when it starts. The Conservatives need a strong left wing in Canada too if they hope to gain power - just as well they never know what to do with it when they do and invariably lose again. The left in Canada need to be stopped. They're too weak and naive about pretty much everything. I was never a Harper cheerleader but he looks like FDR at this point. PP is no Harper unfortunately. There's too many dumb moronic conservatives out there too. We need reasonable moderates with some balls and ethics. People who aren't afraid to offend people in speaking the truth, but not being ignorant either. Only dumbass conservatives think Liberals are the left. And don't get me started on Democrats. Lefties....LMAO! Our country has been on this road all my life. I'm talking about leftwing policies. Trudeau had many of them. Parties like the NDP and Greens would have taken them even further if in power. I have no issue with some reasonable left-of-center economic or environmental policies, but socially the left are out to lunch and Trudeau and his gang were card-carrying members. Thankfully Carney is a bit more moderate there and isn't busy trying to divide everyone. Hopefully he doesn't bankrupt the country.
