A social security card does though. Or a birth certificate. Everyone has a birth certificate...no?

BC can be confusing - esp with married women - maiden names?

SSN tracks earnings -  not citizenship?

A passport would be the gold standard - no question.

Looking at one's appearance can help too. For example: Does the person have black hair, brown eyes, brown skin and speaks with a thick accent or no habla ingles? If yes, then you definitely have a red flag. You'd have to require a passport at that point, and a call into ICE wouldn't hurt either.

A social security card does not prove citizenship - a birth certificate is a confusing document re: maiden names, etc.

Ya know...its pretty revealing that Libbies are putting up such a fight over something as obvious as presenting ID when voting.

Except in 2026 it's more big sister - the girls have been trying to take over everything since 2000. ;)

Oh give it a rest. Even Canada has ID laws when voting. Your grasping at straws now.

Since when  was (valid) I.D. and proof of citizenship the same thing?

There are none so blind as those that won't see, eh, comrade.

This act has very little to do with legitimate voters ............ it is more a manner of tracking and disenfranchising.

As mentioned previously, the Courts will increasingly decide future elections.

Own the court, rule the land.

Johnny...you won't succeed at confusing the issue with me. The bottom line is, valid proof of citizenship is necessary to vote in federal elections. It is not an act to spite or disenfranchise any citizens and the courts will not be deciding elections. Its plain old common sense.

Have a nice morning coffee and give the chickenshit a rest.

It ain'-a gonna work.

Call ICE?

No  need, they'd be at the polling station............ probably helping pull the lever.

Real ID requires proof of citizenship. So, if your Driver's License has a star on it, you are a citizen. If you have a passport, you are a citizen. If you have a SSN, a quick search in the federal database shows citizen or legal resident.

None of this is hard. None of it is preventing legal citizens from getting registered to vote. None of it prevents legal citizens from voting. None of it adds a significant financial burden. In fact, 36 states have proof of citizenship and voter ID laws with no significant issues.

There is no poll tax. There is no Jim Crowe 2.0 (we aren't democrats in the south). There is no suppression of married women (who tend to vote republican).

Don't you think that if I were wrong that I would know it?

Only 6 states issue IDs that comply with the bill's requirements?

Good. We can ill afford to not have enough immigration enforcement at the voting booths.

A U.S. Passport (depending) costs around $130

$130 to vote?

Lets call it a 'poll tax'.

Better to fingerprint all the non-citizens - it's cheap, and we can verify quickly.

The idea of a quick eye test and accent/ no English test is still the best way to verify, though. ;)

Every...single...state:

As of 2026, all U.S. states are compliant with the REAL ID Act...

The digital ID is not valid in most states. The Real ID is 100% implemented.

States IDs are free and all states are issuing Real ID  compliant IDs.

Yes. More hoops to jump through. But still less than to go to the doctor. Also, yes, we are trying to suppress votes. We are trying to suppress ILLEGAL votes. Is that so horrible?

........... ur being pissed on and they're telling u it's rainfall.

The fact is that in the U.S. illegal voting  is extremely rare and doesn't  affect federal election outcomes.

Ur not a conspiracist are ya?

If 'Save America' has anything at all to do with illegal voting then it is only a coincidence.

First u create the 'crisis' and then u ride in and solve the 'crisis'.

fk'n brilliant. ........ but throughout history rinsed and repeated many times.

u should be aware of that.
