There can be more than one motivation for military action here as well as overlapping positve results. 

Can you explain how the Constitution is not being followed? Since the country's founding, presidents have engaged in military actions as the head of the Executive branch and have the power to command the armed forces.

Everything plays a factor.

It was 100% for sure that Trump was going to accomplish his main goal, despite whatever left4rds wanna say about that:

• Iran's nuclear program was going back to the stone age one way or another. Period. There's no way that a religious nutjob who had dedicated his life to committing genocide was going to be allowed to have a nuclear/ICBM arsenal. 

How they were going to go about that was the next challenge. The most human-friendly way was the option that he chose:

1. eliminate Iran's flight, anti-aircraft and missile interception capabilities
2. loiter, and eliminate everything that says IRGC on it with accurate, clinical strikes 

The fact that Iran's anti-air capabilities are so diminished means the US can take their time and use cheaper bombs to hit their targets. They don't need over-the-horizon weapons to hit targets that they could fly biplanes over if they still had them. Cheaper bombs can now be used.

The warthogs are even in Iran now, and have been for about a week.  

 

To answer your question: the fact that Persians wanted to rise up and claim their nation back presented Trump with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so he's trying to take advantage of that. He's using extremely accurate, smaller bombs trying to squeeze the IRGC zits, instead of using "close enough" bombs that take off half the head. Hopefully by degrading the IRGC enough, that will give the Persian civilization the opportunity to come back and restore humanity.

That's more of a cherry on top of the cake though.

If the whole population of Iran was down with jihadi lunacy then a bunch of smoking holes would have been the final answer.
