Ham fisted decision  - typical hack move.

It astounds me that after about 100 years, it now has to be eliminated.

Reasons vary and what is interesting to me is the sleep and body clock and stress caused by changing the clocks twice a year is having on society.

Why would changing the clock twice a year be such a stressful thing?

We travel and travel all over the globe and over one, two or 5 time zones and are OK with that yet changing clocks twice a year is such a health issue? :)

Won't help electricity use.

And think of people who work out side year-round. Won't it be be dark til 8:30 am in winter? So they don't gain any daylight after work.

And now parents will have to get their kids up in the dark to get to school.

Unless I've got my forward/backward mixed up...

Me - I don't care either way. Just wondering about the advantages/disadvantages.

There are none.

Seems to me. Someone just succumbed to social rhetoric and pressure. LOL

You're pretty easy to astound

It was brought in for a reason, that reason isn't applicable any more,  it makes more sense given our current situation to do it this way, it's overdue

Things change, this is one of them. Try to keep up

There are actually plenty.  But of course you never let the fact you know nothing hold you back from having an opinion

Changing times has been associated with higher crash rates higher pedestrian accidents, higher fatigue and a host of other problems

changing times in fall associated with accidents - Google Search

While there are some pro's and cons to sticking with standard or daylight, there's NO doubt that there's HUGE benefit to picking one and sticking with it.

And these studies are everywhere, they're easy to find. Why do you insist on being so stupid?

Which has exactly WHAT to do with DST? Like the radio caller I heard trying to say this incredibly simple, popular and routine legislation is a distraction?

The only downside is if Washington, Oregon, California and Alaska continue to drag their asses past next fall.

What?

It's akin to moving the deck chairs around on the Titanic - gives people something to focus on.

Every time you want to try and make a point now you claim the information comes from a radio caller.

I suspect that those radio waves are in your head

It's no such thing.

This discussion goes back way before the NDP took power in British Columbia and has been promised many times by many different governments and every time it's put forward the vast majority of people pulled think it's a great idea but for one reason or another it's never happened.

I think David Evie is (the worst thing ever) X (cancer)  But this was the right thing to do. And has many benefits. If it happens to distract then oh well but this was still the right time to do it. It should have happened under his predecessor and it didn't

.............. def trivial ........ one way or the other really isn't going  to make a wit of difference to people's lives - but it was a move intended to garner attention - put the Government in  the news - trigger debate.

Trump could be so lucky to be only dealing with such seemingly mundane decisions (strategy)

You have to be 17 different flavors of stupid to think that. People literally die, this what the reports and studies say.

Estimated number of deaths due to Daylight Savings Time Changes British Columbia - Google Search

Key Findings on Health and Safety Impacts:
  • Cardiac Events: Studies show a spike in heart attacks and strokes in the days immediately following the spring change due to sleep disruption and circadian rhythm misalignment.
  • Fatal Accidents: A 30% increase in fatal car accidents was found on the Monday following the spring change.
  • Workplace Injuries: Research indicates a 5.7% increase in workplace injuries and a 67.6% increase in work days lost to injuries on the Monday after the spring change.
  • Pedestrian Fatalities: Evidence suggests that switching back to standard time in the fall (i.e., having it darker earlier) dramatically increases pedestrian fatalities, notes the

If you're going to try and sell the idea that dozens of deaths is trivial that would make you a horrible person.

I don't know why you decided to admit that you were a complete scumbag who doesn't care if people die but here we are.

whoo kaayy so that's enough drinking for you tonight i think. Sure it's the weekend but it's like 1 pm when you wrote that.

In any case, nobody runs around pretending they heard anything on the internet, they can provide links to things they've seen and it can be reviewed and fact checked,  but YOU have these imaginary callers who none of us can see or hear and they were always conveniently on the radio 'Just today' to say something that supports your claim.

We call that lying here in the real world. It's painfully obvious it's not true.  You want to quote someone like "on Thursday's vassey kapelos show in the last segment they said...." that's fine. At least people can go listen to that. And others may have heard it

But your make believe shit is nothing more than the voices in your head.

Studies also showed a corresponding dip in the numbers of cardiac emergencies in the fall.

In any case AI tells me the Mayo clinic studied some 36 million patients and concluded there's next to nothing to be concerned about.

It seems to me the remaining issues people might have are economic in nature. That said I doubt DST ever had greater effect on my circadian rhythm than fishing or logging, but especially fishing. Way back in the day if you lived on the South coast and wanted to maximize your daylight hours you ran up to Alaska where you really couldn't tell the difference between dawn and dusk.

Even then I still recall more than a few 24 - 36 hr stints on deck where dusk is hours behind you as far as dawn is ahead.

It takes a moment or so to remember what circadian means after about 28 hours. Everything's measured by...'here comes the next snap or trap'.

Not really, but at that time you get more pedestrian deaths and other accidents.  and no dip there in the spring either

Sorry kid once again  you can't post facts so you just make shit up

but you already screwed up everything you've said so far so it's probably not worth bothering with what you think.  You called dozens of people dying due to a lack of emerg rooms in bc a 'Mere handful" so.....

The fact is we're safer without the change, people don't want the change, and the province is better without the change.  And you're still a liar with no grasp of the facts and that never seems to change.

Sad truth i'm afraid,  basically those deaths in bc were of no meaning to you.  A 'handful."

ANd that's in keeping with your general position on things. The israeli children who died on oct 7 had it coming, the palestinians were "exercising their human right to fight back against "oppression" and kill innocents".    But the Palestinian children who died because hamas hid behind them,... well that's a REAL loss and all israels fault.

Now it's like "so what if a bunch of people die due to time changes?"  Yeash.

Still just don't give a crap about the actual deaths do you.  well nice of you to prove my point i suppose.
