User Posted February 6 Report Posted February 6 Why wouldn't you be investing for your own retirement instead of hoping your kids or the government will take care of you? Quote
herbie Posted February 9 Report Posted February 9 Have like 8 to 10 kids to ensure at least one will be a financial success and can take care of you. Like, if you really think we're Third World, start acting like those that live in one. Quote

Oh yeah, I left out that there are actually transportation companies that exist to help older people get to their medical appointments. If you live in a care home, most of them have vans/busses to transport the old people living there to medical appointments. I am just a person who is knowledgeable enough to not come to a dead end at thinking the only resource available to someone is having a kid. Quote

I think that you are on the cusp of understanding an important epiphany: children matter. Quote

For people below this, there is the federal GAINS, Guaranted Income. Old people in Canada (over 65) receive at least Cdn $2000 per month. In addition, each province has a health system. In Canada, individuals do not pay for health care - but you may have to wait. Quote

Of course children matter. That wasn’t the issue. Its your absurd notion that you can’t possibly go to an MRI without them… Quote
