A woman dying from a liver disease in B.C.'s failing health care system not treated fairly

She is literally dying on the waiting list for a liver transplant.  The health care system apparently has something called the MELD score that determines where one stands on the waiting list.  I gather from this short video clip, this woman with a family has a liver disease, not of her own making, while some other people on the transplant waiting list are given equal priority even though they have failing livers caused by alcoholism or other self-destructive behaviors.  She has an MLA who is fighting for her, but why does a person have to fight a political battle to save their own life in this health care system?  By the sound of it, the health care system is not going to change anything.  This is how many people have died on the waiting lists for specialized care.

So what, they should hunt down someone you don't like with a compatible liver and take it like some Monty Python sketch?

She's on a transplant waiting list how is that a failure of the system?

Maybe if organ donation was made an opt-OUT choice that would help, but you'd be totally against that, right?

No you're absolutely right, it makes more sense to just let people die rather than improve the system.
