I recently learned that when Deng first visited the US in 1979, Deng insisted that Nixon be in the White House.

Trump, Nixon understands these guys.

Nxon meeting Mao was a revelation, and an upheaval in the geopolitical roadmap.

It's hard to say what Trump understands.  I just listened to an interview between Ezra Klein and Kayla Scanlon.

She submits that Trump is a human algorithm, trying many tactics at once and with his own feedback loops: stock market, FOX, Truth Social...

Klein points out that Trump is unable to focus.  "Listen to how he talks", ie. He can't keep a constant line of thinking beyond a few sentences.

It's long and not conclusive, but the current Zeitgeist is barely fathomable.  So there's only so much to be understood, even by bright young people.

I believe that earth-shifting pervasive change is happening and it will take a generation, plus the death of the boomer generation to balance out.

That’s a lot of attention. My only comment here is that there aren’t that many Gen Z. They will live in the shadows of Boomers and Millennials as did their parents the Gen X.

Perhaps for America.

Our PM Trudeau Snr met Mao before Kissinger did, or even Nixon.

Heck, he travelled to Red China in the 1950s.

Trudeau Snr was born in 1919. Trump in 1946.

Both were privileged guys. Both did deals. Both married outside their language.
