Elon is a volunteer (aka special government employee). He's not taking a salary so he's not an employee. That doesn't mean he's not in charge. The President has assigned Elon with the power to make decisions and Elon has been granted security clearances based, in part, on his responsibilities and authorities at DOGE.

Is Elon Musk Getting Paid for DOGE?

Musk helped spark the creation of DOGE, a cost-cutting initiative signed into action by President Donald Trump. However, as previously reported by Newsweek, Musk is not receiving a salary for his role, according to White House filings. Musk has been classified as a "special government employee," a designation that allows individuals to work for the government on a temporary basis.

Even if he doesn't get paid, the impact he has is huge.

That's true whether it gets paid or not. I don't think anyone's disputing that he had an impact. They seem to be suggesting that because he isn't paid his impact is invalid but I don't think that would actually be the case

Let’s look at the record:

When Trump first announced the enterprise in November, he said Musk …  will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (‘DOGE’).

Dec. 22 – Trump said, “And we will create the new Department of Government Efficiency, headed by Elon Musk.”

Jan. 19 - Trump said, “We will create the new Department of Government Efficiency, headed by a gentleman named Elon Musk.”

Feb. 4 - Musk referred to DOGE as “we.”

Feb. 9 – Trump said Musk has “been terrific” and suggested that he has been hiring people: “He comes in with a hundred very smart people.”

At a Feb. 11 news conference, Trump asked Musk to mention things that “your team” has discovered.

According to Trump’s Executive Order forming DOGE -

Quote

There shall be a USDS Administrator established in the Executive Office of the President who shall report to the White House Chief of Staff.

The U.S. DOGE Service … shall be headed by the USDS Administrator and shall be dedicated to advancing the President’s 18-month DOGE agenda.

Yet - Joshua Fisher, director of the White House’s Office of Administration, now says - “Mr. Musk is not the U.S. DOGE Service administrator.”

Well, if it is not Musk, who the hell is it?

He is a special advisor to the President. There's nothing crooked about it.

The left is trying to fearmonger here, throw everything they can at the wall in lawsuits, and they are losing. Too bad, so sad.

Yeah. At the end of the day for better or for worse this is pretty much what trump ran on. He was going to cut government waste and cut government spending as much as possible and this is how he's doing it. It's not like he doesn't have a mandate for this

No, they have not.

As I have repeatedly pointed out, most everything so far has been a TRO... until more formal injunctions can be rendered for or against Trump, to which Trump can then appeal.

And they are not winning all the TRO's either. Just like this one here.

However, he still has a chance to turn things around.
