Case in point...

LOL yes it is :)

How is that different than any other industry, especially lumber. Yet we do not see the BC Premier on their knees trying to appease a dictator.

They're not threatening to block lumber exports to the states. They HAVE mentioned energy, such as oil.  I'm sure if they did say they were going to block lumber sales to the states the bc premier would pipe up.

Seriously that should have been obvious.

I don't see Canada cutting off energy supplies to the US. I do see the possibility of applying an export tax to make it more expensive for them. If Trump applies the  tariffs to energy then it doesn't matter. Either way, American consumers will pay.

A "zone" in Florida? She's not in touch with reality.

Yes, free trade zones are a thing and not that uncommon.  For heaven's sake, read a book

So Danielle Smith flew to Mar-a-lago, on the taxpayers dime, and her mission was a complete failure. The tariffs have not been removed, and as an added bonus, Trump now will walk all over her. Even the most hardcore Conservative Albertans have started to distance herself from Smith, as she is such an off-putting and shameless Premier.

In what what way was it a failure? She went to establish relations and communications and did so.

In fact those who were there reported that trump received her warmly and they had several conversations together about energy and canada's importance to the US.

Your comment is kind of childish.  Diplomacy isn't where you walk in and 5 minutes later you've got everything you want.

She also met with a number of his advisors and that's important as well.

Hey - it's not like trudeau or the libs are stepping up and getting anything done.

There's two schools of thought on how to deal with trump and his tarrif threat right now. One is negotiate and develop relations (and we all know trump likes his ego stroked and is nice to those he considers 'friendly') and the other school is immediately go to war and see which of us caves first.  Sometiems thats the best way to deal with a bully but make no mistake, that means instant recession for canada and a million jobs lost, and we'll feel the economic blow of that for years. And trump's not the kind to back down first very easily so that would likely drag on.

Danielle wants to see this end as painlessly and positively as possible, doug ford wants to send a message that if you mess with us we won't back down. Both are valid, both have their strong merits and both are worth considering.

If we had a real gov't, they'd be the ones making the decision and moving forward but trudeau has decided to screw us so we've got this going on.

It doesn't matter what Smith says, trade and foreign policy are federal jurisdictions.

Yeah, if only we had a federal gov't right now.

The sad thing about Danielle Smith not only failing to do anything to help Alberta out, by visiting Trump, but the fact that Trump told her that he was not going to exempt oil and gas. This was to have been expected. Now Trump can use her to his advantage, knowing she will side with him over Canada, and create division from within. Now Mexico is going to get wind of this, and not trust us.

All and all a complete disaster. However, the MAGA hyenas, will go on, and champion her for being such a "great" leaders, since.....ya know.....Trudeau bad, Orange Man good!

Edit: Apologise for the convoluted sentence. My auto-correct is being funky today.

You're sounding more desperate (and less coherent) with every post on this  :)

It must pi*ss you off to no end to see someone actually take a leadership role while the liberals hide.

Danielle Smith, is probably the worst Premier in the history of Alberta.

She's doing great. She addressed fair compensaiton and resources for those who serve the public, she opened lines of communication with a potentially hostile group and was positively recieved, and one loser on the left mocked her for doing her job.

And the left is losing it's shite over it.  :)  which is just a bonus :)

They discussed nothing. Trump took a photo with her, and that buffoon O'Leary. Sources say that she pretty much got rebuffed by Trump, which is the least surprising thing ever. She is an embarrassment, who hopefully is driven by pitch forks out of Alberta.

They discussed a great deal according to eyewitnesses and reporters who were there. In fact they had more than one private conversation with just him and her discussing oil and the shared energy resources between the two countries.

On top of that she met with and talked and discussed the issues with some of his key advisors. Those are relationships that will last for the entire term and are very important.

Meanwhile Justin hid in a cave and the left wing governments did nothing. Jag me came out and threatened trump and insulted him which as everyone who knows trump can tell you is a great idea because he responds very well to being threatened and insulted 🙄

It is a damn shame we have the left in power this critical time. It could have been avoided if we had decent governments in and now in the absence of a federal government willing to do something the premiers have to step in and get the job done. Never vote woke

Smith accomplished nothing. The tariffs remain. Her mission failed.

Danielle Smith has no business being in Florida right now. When is the last time a provincial Premier bypassed the PM, on foreign policy?

We don't have a PM now. Trump laughs at Trudeau and other world leaders ignore him except when he's handing out my tax dollars and glad-handing every low level  politician that happens to wander his way by mistake.  Trudeau's a wanker, a disgusting wanker.

Danielle Smith was a always like this. I still remember when as Wildrose Party leader in 2014, she crossed the floor, and joined the Alberta PC party, in exchange for a high ranking position in the Government. She was one of the main reasons the PC party is no longer in existence, since the merger was a disaster, and constituents felt betrayed that half the Wildrose crossed the floor.

This also lead to the first time the PC party was defeated in 44 years, to Rachel Notley and the NDP. I thought for sure her career was ended, considering he was tossed out, due to the backlash. That is when she became a conspiracy nut, and eventually joined the UCP. I still cannot believe she was named leader of the party.

Danielle Smith has made it obvious that she does not care about Canada or Alberta. She only care about Danielle Smith. She is willing to join the USA, rather than work with Ottawa, against what over 75% of her constituents want.

If Smith wants to be independent, hold a referendum and let Albertans decide, until then, they are still part of Canada so act like it.

If Trudeau wants to Call an election and let Canadians decide, until then if you won't do his job others are going to

Competent? Effective? Caring about the alberta and people she represents? Not afraid to get things done? Smarter than you?

Probably.

She was right back when she crossed the floor of course.  She said if they didn't come together as one party the ndp would win.  Well they didn't and the ndp did.

Smart girl.
