no uniform fielded by the Germans

could ever match the iconic supremacy of the British Household Infantry Scarlet Doublet and Bearskin Bonnet

dating back to the Battle of Waterloo, 18 June 1815

They may be on their way out.

At over £2,000 and with pressure from the likes of PETA the future may be faux fur.

Centennial Royal Visit

Canada Day, 1 July 1967

HM arriving at Parliament Hill directly from Expo 67' in Montreal

arguably the greatest Canadian Household Infantry Parade of all time

Just as iconic, and arguably even more impressive

the Scarlet Doublet, Ostrich Feather Bonnet, Kilt & Horse Hair Sporran, Diced Hose & Spats

of the Royal Highlanders

The Thin Red Line

dating back to the 93rd Regiment of Foot, ( Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders )

at Balaklava. 25 October 1854

A Jeep!

If HM is to be driven around in a car other than a Daimler, Bentley or a Rolls it should at least be British.

Ps the bearskin review goes back to Tory rule.

nonsense

it was entirely apropos

quite sure she wouldn't have it any other way at the head of her troops

considering that HM was a soldier's soldier

veteran of the Second World War

Subaltern in the Auxiliary Territorial Service

as an utility vehicle driver / mechanic

Well, I'm 100% certain HM never owned a Jeep.

She did, however, own many Land Rovers.

it was a custom made Jeep,

with chrome & brass handles, red carpet for HM to stand upon

Wasn't in the Royal colour though as this custom Land Rover is.

Oi, that Land Rover is nowhere near as fancy as the custom built Centennial 1967 Canadian Jeep

the 1967 Canadian Jeep is in Olive Green, for the military Commander-in-Chief at the head of her troops

Jeep is still going

as Stellantis ; Chrysler - FIAT

I meant that actual Jeep.

HM's purple Landy is still in the royal collection.

but Canada doesn't pay for that sort of thing

in Canada, HM is technically operational in the field, expeditionary to British North America

like Major-General Wolfe upon the Plains of Abraham

like Major-General Brock upon the Heights of Queenston

in the face of the American revolution at the gates

I have a different theory.

The Scarlet uniform is like the Blue Line - police brotherhood. Kill me, you kill my brothers.
