Awwww Jb, are your feelings hurt?

I said America sucks -- how does that have anything to do with them being our neighbour? Lots of other places suck too -- America USED TO NOT suck. Sucks now. Sucks to be you.

sorry.... couldn't resist LOL

I don't give a rat's patooey if America's "feelings" are hurt.

Maybe, just friggin' maybe the American people will finally turn off American Idol and do something.

I doubt it though.

Delusional claptrap . Nice insult to 300M people.

Thanks for the support. I needn't respond to a delusional post.

Here in Buffalo, as I said, we almost never get into negative numbers on the F scale. We would be in the negative numbers almost all winter in the C scale.

Indeed - you'd be below freezing - as you ARE. And, I guess to be fair to those living in Norway, we should change it to yet another scale, as they are in negative numbers more than 8 months of the year. Again it's not about "being in negative numbers" - it's about water freezing.

The use of the decimal in the C scale is hardly useful. Who can feel a half of a degree of anything.

I'll send a memo to the US Military and the US Weather Service. It their stupidity, I guess they should have talked to you first about this.

Crappy Windors? I have seen Linux and was not impressed. It lacks drivers and software other than a word processor and a spreadsheet. Dos was better. The only thing it might be good for is internet surfing.

Wow - I see how little you know about computers, or how little you have used Unix.

No worries - keep your Windows and keep playing games. I'll keep using StarOffice on my Solaris (Sparc 20) system.

That's showing great standards - murder, and sadism on top of that. do your friemds know you're sadistic?

Its the policies of the American Government that worry me, that and the fact that things like New Orleans can happen in what is reported to be the richest country in the world.

How can Canadians hate three quarters of their relatives, hard to imagine. If you follow your genealogy at all you will find lots of cousins there.

Legislation passed at the behest of Southerner, the "Posse Comitatus" legislation, prevented the use of the National Guard without Governor Blanco's consent, which was not immediately forthcoming. Disaster relief is, in general, a state function. The Feds supply some funding and some coordination.

In my area, near NYC, we just had a devastating nor'easter. The main reason we didn't have a headline-making breakdown of civil order is that we have functioning state and local governments. The Feds do not have the right to insist on the election of non-imbeciles to the governorships and key mayoral positions.

And they would probably reject the right if it ever came before any governing body because the present situation helps to make them look good and because if it ever caught on it just might reach their level.

I was following the jbg post which had for a last line,

The feds do not have the right to insist on the election of non-imbeciles to the governorships and key mayoral positions.

So it seemed to follow, for me at least, that the they, refers to the feds,,,, the present situration as you put it, refers to the present when the feds don't have the right,,,, the them, is once again the feds,,,, the it, would be the right to insist on the election of non-imbeciles,,,, and the their, refers to the level at which the feds currently find themselves.

I hope that clears it up.

That is a VERY funny "fact". Are you a stand-up Comic??

OK, here's the history:

Americans AND Canadians came from the same strands - Natives being overthrown by English. So, YES, our cousins can be found all over North America, as well as Europe. If you believe in Adam & Eve, we are ALL from the same family: Adam & Eve; then Noah (IMAGINE the incest!). If you are an Evolutionist, you know that we are all from tribes** - procreating from within their tribes, and being completely incestual up until the last 2,000 years. (but we ALL know there's still LOTS of incest.)

As far as your comment on "how can Canadians hate...", I think you can ask a deeper question:

How can AMERICANS hate their own - they murder 1% of their own every year, and they SUE each other if they *dare* offend each other. Yeah, THAT'S "United" and "love". Yep.

** There are only THREE original races of people: Mongoloid, Caucazoid & Negroid.

Funny how Americans (in all their conceit) have no problem insulting the rest of the world (6 B people), yet they have such a "thin skin" when anyone says even a discouraging word about them. Sort of like when a Military person goes to another Country and fights for them - they are called a TRAITOR to the Americans (and Americans want to KILL them). Yet someone from another Country can join the American forces, and THAT'S ok (and honorable!).

Yeah, THAT is logical.

Also, funny how 90% of Americans tout religion - you know "Turn the other cheek"; "Vengance is MINE..."; "Love thine enemy as thine self", yet they go to war non-stop. Is my brain fried from too much organic health-food, or is this EXTREMELY hypocritical??

Somebody EXPLAIN this to me. Ha!!

No, they are not. There is a trace of logic to everything Bush has done. You might not agree with this or that, ...

That is true. but if you are going to stand on the "logic" soapbox, I will kindly remind everyone that there was LOGIC to what Hitler did, and LOGIC to what Saddam Hussein did. You might not *agree* with it, but it WAS logical to the leaders *and* to the general population at that time.

So, NOW does that make [bush] right? Something to ponder, I'll say.

Why bother securing the country. Who cares if it is secure. Iraqis should be, but the US? And more troops? They are only more targets. More troops, more targets....Forget it. Less and less troops. You just need a foothold, token force.....

Good point, but remember 2 things:

1) You cannot simultaneously prepare for peace and war. (Albert Einstein - but what did HE know? :-)

2) There are pros & cons with anything and everything in life. (P. Chapman)

Remember, The USA drove the Soviet Union to bankruptcy by the Cold War, so there is a "pro" to your premise. The CON is ... the Soviet Union - with VERY decent people - developed "starvation" because the government went under. Yes, this is "over simplified", I realize. Hard to condense 4 years of College and 2 years of living there in 2 sentences. :-)

I've heard it said, when discussing history, "if only they just played a game of chess, or just got along..."

Well?? Why don't we??? Or is there always more to it?

<pondering>

The Soviet Union went bankrupt because communism Soviet style was a failed system. It could only operate in isolation. Iron curtain, rigid travel and currency controls etc. It was killed by its own paranoia. An even more extreme example of that paranoia and its effect is North Korea. The same cannot be said for many other Eastern block countries after the Soviet boot was removed from their neck. Many have prospered. The great majority of people are decent, whatever system they live under.

New Orleans was a city below sea level, with a disfunctional local government. No evaculation plan, and a mayor who thinks of his city as a chocolate city, which was out right racist. And guess what, they reelect him. The governor of Lousiana was not much better. She at least did not refer to chocolate.

And when things went wrong, they both lay blame on Bush.

The logic of some people is scary.

And a local government that diverted money intended for shoring up the dikes to other projects that were more politically sexy or more lucrative for theim and their friends. This is not a "color" thing; anyone who has read or watched "All the Kings Men" knows this has gone on for decades in New Orleans.

Sounds like the sum total of your knowledge is based on four years of college indoctrination.

I think your college sucks. It is probably some diploma mill producing mindless....knee jerk American bashers. And btw, the metric system sucks also. MC Squared=1210000, which is roman numberal 1100 times itself, which again is stupid and meaningless to all but a number junky. And lunix sucks also, along with your school. Windows is software rich, and lunix is software poor. What does it matter how great it is if it only acts as a server for windows.

Yeah, THAT is logical.

When did we insult the rest of the world? Maybe the politicians in tin-pot dictatorships that purport to represent most African, Asian, South American, and Islamic countries who shovel it all in for themselves, then shake their tin cup at the US deserve to be insulted. Good on them!!!

I just got off the black list and no way am I going back on it --- I LOVE AMERICA - I do - I do....so what's more worthy of loving...the one that feeds and protects you or that hot harlett around the corner who says she loves you as she goes though your pockets? - names of nations will remain un-named. Look around at all of the nations - and tell me who you think is better? All have their goodness and none are without sin. Americas existance has done more good in the world than if she did not exist --- kind of like a Jimmy Stewart rant. It is a wonderful life...and America is wonderful...she just needs some sweet talking once in a while to keep her calm and a goooodd ----- I take that back.
