No, I don't recall being given a licence or pass that said I was free to be as indifferent as I wanted - not to mention I'd just been diagnosed with cancer and my wife was facing surgery. Throwing caution to the wind certainly wasn't part of the program our doctors said we should follow. 3 minutes ago, Goddess said: Selective memory or purposely trying to rewrite history because you fell for the lies? No, it's because I take these sorts of official pronouncements with a big grain of salt. I know you need to believe otherwise but that's because you're a anti-vax media-phobic conspiracy-prone right-wing dingbat on a mission. I don't recall a single public official ever using the word PROMISE when talking about the expected results of an official measure. You treat every single word and utterance like it's a binding legal contract. There were no end of public officials who exaggerated, downplayed, emphasized, demonized, hyperbolized and otherwise treated the issue with less than perfect knowledge and certainty. You seem to imagine this was a sacred right of yours and act a baby whose had a lollipop snatched away. Grow up already. On the other side there were plenty of public officials who took obvious pleasure in demonstrating their scorn and derision for adoring supporters who were similarly fed up with measures. These did way more to harm and kill people than any who tried to reassure them. Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding. impartialobserver
Back to the topic, The kids of today are exposed to such a greater volume of information than those of gen x or earlier. I know that some will say that it is due to inferior morals and other arbitrary nonsense. The internet, technology, and more comfortable lives in the West has made for different outcomes. We can sit on the sideline and say that they are just immoral, stupid, and blah, blah, blah but that is beyond simplistic.
