blackbird Posted July 16, 2024 Report Posted July 16, 2024 (edited) " Over the last eight years the Trudeau government has expanded the size of the federal public service to ensure it plays a more active role in the Canadian economy. However, there’s little evidence that this bigger government has made Canadians better off. According to the Public Service Commission of Canada, the size of the federal public service reached 274,219 employees in 2022/23—an increase of 40.4 per cent since 2014/15. And according to data from the Parliamentary Budget Officer, total compensation for federal bureaucrats (adjusted for inflation) increased by nearly 37 per cent between 2015/16 and 2021/22. This is occurring even as government workers in Canada already enjoy a substantial wage and benefit premium compared to comparable workers in the private sector. According to a recent study published by the Fraser Institute, in 2021 (the latest year of comparable data) government workers at all levels (federal, provincial and local) received wages that were 8.5 per cent higher, on average, than Canadians employed in the private sector. (The study controls for factors such as gender, age, education, tenure and industry to provide an “apples to apples” comparison among workers.) But higher compensation and an increasing size of the federal public service have not provided better access to government programs and services or translated into tangible economic results for Canadians." Bloated gov't is a closed money loop that hurts the economy: Taxpayer $$ -------> pays gov't workers --------> who pay most of it back to the gov't as taxes. With our high taxes, most of every gov't employee's paycheque goes right back to the gov't. I believe Trudeau did this on purpose. 1 Quote "There are two different types of people in the world - those who want to know and those who want to believe." ~~ Friedrich Nietzsche ~~

CdnFox Posted July 16, 2024 Report Posted July 16, 2024 And farts are smelly. Seriously, this really isn't even news, everyone everywhere knows this. The libs spending has been absolutely devastating and will now create a drag on the economy which will lower the quality of life for decades. This hand in hand with immigration is why we have been having over target inflation. It's never been worse than it is right now - and business investment is fleeing the country for the first time ever, it's bad. Our productivity is in the hole as a result. this is the way it is now and not much we can do to even start to fix it for another 15 months Quote There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data

With our high taxes, most of every gov't employee's paycheque goes right back to the gov't. I believe Trudeau did this on purpose. That's actually not true. If it were it would be less of a problem. While it's true that almost half the money people make goes to one level of gov't or another in the form of taxes, it doesn't all go to the feds, and that doesnt' take into account things like retirement pension incomes for fed employees and some other benefits as well which aren't taxed. The rest of the money, the majority of it, gets dumped back into the economy. Explaining this for the simple people who may be reading along with us (eyeball..... staaaaaare...) the way our economy works is that for a dollar to be introduced into our system something worth a dollar has to be exchanged. Labour, good, service, something so that if i get paid a dollar i've created something of value in equivilance. But gov't doesn't really create anything for the most part. A person who's recording your taxes isn't actually producing anything of actual value, even tho what they do may be necessary for the gov't to function. So all that money going into the economy is essentially "Unearned" dollars, meaning that the person was paid without producing a corresponding market value. Again - that doesn't mean they did nothing or that what they do isn't important, but it doesn't create wealth or value. That drives up inflation and creates a false economy which is very detrimental. It also falsely inflates our GDP and makes it look like we're doing better than we are - gov't wages count to gdp. And because they borrow to do it the effect is even worse, there's 'imaginary' unearned dollars flowing into the markets in an unnatural fashion that create weakness and inflation. Not to mention it creates a drag on the economy as the interest comes due. SO in the end it means a weaker actual economy by far. It becomes a fiscal black hole 1 Quote There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data
